Needing a new TV in the house I was sure to ask this question here. After all, the only thing I watch on TV is sports. lol Can someone tell me where is a good place to go to get TV's. I am looking into the new screens but they have a lot out there. I have also heard that some of them have had problems with certain screens. Really unsure as I am hearing a lot has to do with where you buy it and of what brand you buy. I know stores will differ because of location but any heads up on this would be greatly appreciated. NFL starts soon so this is something I would like to go get today, but then maybe my better half has different plans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks GL

If you have TWEETER in your area check them out..they used to be BRYN MAR....they will match any price u might see at Best Buy,C.City...but you have to ask, they won't tell you...JUst bought a 48" Mitsubishi HDTV from them a few months ago and it's awesome( 1,500.00)...NFL package and Hi-Def...what could be better

BP, thanks for the info. Their are so many brands out there and I have walked thru hundreds of sets. Are some brands better then others and do these flat screens really only last 2 years? I am lost trying to make a decision. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again

I have a Sony 51" widescreen, HDTV compatible, but I hanv't used the HDTV yet waiting to get the satelite box. I do not have any complaints with the TV.

Steel,

I purchased a Samsung DLP 46 inch model about a week ago. I chose this model due to a ton of research. To make a long story short, the DLP caused me to have minor headaches due to a Ghosting Effect from the projection system. I have since took it back and exchanged it for a 43" Samsung Plasma TV. Cost was about $3,000, but believe me it is worth every penny. Picture is soothing and even looks good with basic cable. If you buy a HIDEF TV you will need to upgrade to HIDef cable or go with a satellite for the best picture quality. Whatever you buy definately spend the extra for a protection plan. I purchased a 6 yr. plan that covers everything under the sun for an addditonal $600.00. Everything is covered for 6 years with in home service. I researched for about 2 months and from what I can tell Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba are earning the better grades at this point and time. Hope this help man, if you consider the Plasma, I will be glad to furnish the model number for you.

i am finishing my basement and have been shopping for a new big screen tv for a couple months....go plasma....the picture comparison to wide/big screens isnt even close and you get brilliant definition from all angles...you lose nothing veiwing from left to right....i am gettng a 42" gateway...free shipping...for 2799.00....tuner for digtal feed is addtl 249.99 which also includes recording and burning dvd's....wall bracket 299.99...consumer reports gives it thumbs up....if you have a walkin gateway store your way go check it out...also...i was looking at 42" panasonics in my local Costco....little over 3k....picture just magnificent...i was gonna go hd but there is no need the picture is so good and by the time majority of braodcasts are on hd price will probably be same as this....gl

Can't go wrong with the Sony Wega TV.....Not sure about the flat screens in that size although i have heard of problems with them lasting and apparently if you have a problem, good luck getting it fixed....Not sure if that info on flat screens is correct though....I have always bought Sony before and loved them...Only bought the Mitsubishi because the Sony bigs sold around here were grey in color and doesn't match the decor( not my saying buy whatcha gonna do)...Don't know if I'd do HD in the 30" or not. HD does require an upgrade on all your stuff( cable or Sattelite) but damn it's awesome.....hope that helps anyways
