View Full Version : My QUEST to turn $50 into $1,000 in 5 games/5 days

Well this is it guys. I have decided to leave sports betting. Perhaps not for good, but I think I need a LONG break from it... not for financial reasons, but rather for other reasons.
I thought though, that I might leave the game with one last 'Hurrah.' :beer2:
Now here is my challenge to myself!
I received $50 from one of my books, and I will try to turn it into $1,000 in 5 days/5 games. I will wager only on games with -140 juice or less, and put it all on each game. I already started today with a nice Win, and I'm @ $97.62, so tommorrow I will put all of that on the game I choose.
I will spend no more than 25 minutes to make each of my selections. I already have determined I will go with Pittsburgh, Fogg vs Hendrikson @ -125. Will the ride end tommorrow? We'll see!

This might be something fun that I might try as well. Try a new book open with $50 and see how far I go.

I'm from Pittsburgh and that is a pretty good play. The under on that game might be a little better Under 9, the brewers simply cannot hit the ball and buccos are very streaky. The Brewers have lost like 11-12 straight but even I know the pirates are not a great team. They are the type of team that you can break your losing streak on! Fogg is probably 4th best pitcher in our rotation and has his bad games here and there. But...
The game has gone under the total every time in Fogg’s last three starts. Davis is 0-1 with a 1.71 ERA in his last three starts.
While Fogg has an ERA for the season around 4 this info is quite convincing. Also the Bucs don't score alot of runs, no power hitters (none who are consistant threats anyways). The UNDER looks great tonight! GL!!!!
Pittsburgh/Milwaukee UNDER 9
MAKE THE MAN PAY!

I agree the under is a solid play

Davis is not starting it is Hendrickson who is 0-5 with a 9.00 ERA
Pitts has won 4-6 at mil this year:thumbs:
I look for the pirates to get the win today:thumbs:

MC quick question for you. I got the same promo the other day in the mail and they funded my account already. My question is how do you bet every game with only 50 dollars to spare?
It looks like it went 3-1 for you on Sunday! Nice job! Did you lay 12.50 on each game? Looks like there is 5 games today (Monday) that meets you system plays. I'm just confused cause if you put 12.50 on each game and layed the juice you should have won about 20 bucks.
Now today since there are 5 games and you BR is 97 dollars are you putting 19.50 on each game.
Thanks for the heads up and Best of luck on your Goal!

Oh ok thanks.
This is what confused me
I will wager only on games with -140 juice or less, and put it all on each game.
Put it all on Dallas tonight. lol

Hey,
Sorry for the confusion, I layed $50 on -105 juice for a $47.62 return. I was going to post my writeup for today's game but I forgot. If I knew Davis was pitching I would probably lay off this play, as it wouldn't be as solid, however, Ben Hendrikson will be pitching today. I have my bets as listed just in case!
Hendrikson as we know, has done very poorly in the major's thus so far, and I expect the same of him tonight! Fogg on the other hand has been excellent of late, and additionally, he has done well against Milwaukee so far this year (2-0 2.19 ERA). I expect him to get Pittsburgh out of the slump!

2 down, 3 more to go!
Taking a look at tommorrows scorecard and prices, it doesn't look good for games under -140. My overnight lines don't include RL's or totals, so I'll probably wait till tommorrow to pick, or I may break my -140 rule, as long as I think I can still pull of the feat in 5 days/5 games!

Man, tonight is going to be tough. I like the following teams, but the juice is too high:
San Francisco over Colorado
Oakland over White Sox
May take RL on one of them, but very little value at my book, -110, and -125 respectively
Thinking of SF Colorado over 9.5
and possibly Milwaukee -135 over Pitt. I know I know, Milwaukee is horrible, but they have a good pitcher on the mound against a rookie... they have to win at SOME point!
May need some help on my decision tonight, could use some feedback on this one!

GL mad...i agree tonite will be a tough nite with the juice...personally im playin atl -103 and also am on the dodgers (weaver vs ariz(johnson), yea johnson is solid on the mound but ariz gets very little to no run support and against an LA team at the top of the division i like LA...BOL
lets take down the man today and kick back and enjoy :gulp:

Was going to originally go with Oakland Runline, but couldn't get on quick enough before the game started as I was locked out of the house!
My choices came down between SF over 9.5 (even), SF RL (-110), and Jeff Weaver over 6 balls & strikes, and I went with SF RL... although I admit I'm more confident about the Weaver bet, I just simply went with the less juice of the 2!

Wow, it's amazing I would have been 8-0 yesterday if I bet all my picks as I normally do. I told myself I'm only going to do this challenge, and limit myself to 1 game a day, and not put any of my money on these games. Yesterday I was sooo close to loading my old Pinnacle account to dump on the Cubs aside from my Pitt bet.
I listed my picks today as:
Milwaukee ML
San Franscisco ML & RL
San Franscisco over 9.5
Oakland ML & RL
Weaver over 6 balls and strikes
Additionally I wanted Zona LA no run in the first inning -145, but as the juice was too high, I did not list it as a possible play.
Of course when you leave sports betting, your picks all turn out to be right! It's okay though, no matter what it was a fun ride!

Looks like I'm taking Atlanta tommorrow. @ -110, it's too great a value to pass up on a great, hot team. Padilla is good, but so is Wright, should be a good game... I know there are safer bets, but I do believe this is the best VALUE on the board right now, let's hope Atlanta pulls through again!

Are you around 330 in the bankroll?
this gives you ATL (-110) 330/300?
If so, GLTU!:gulp:
madcowz
09-01-2004, 11:15 PM
Right now the balance is $640, so I have 1 more to go!
I left myself enough room to go with -175 juice or less to hit my goal, so that leaves me with a lot of options tommorrow! I'll be back with my pick!

I also have the same promotion and my account sits at 320 starting with 50. Tonight I put the 320 on the Dodgers at -250 to win 128. If this hits I will have to go "all in" two more times. What I have decided to do is to use my other sportsbook to hedge the bet and put some on Arizona and will continue to do so until it reaches 1000. This way I win something no matter what, but the 1000 is the main goal.

Alright guys well I put it all on no run in the first inning Texas/Minn -115. It's been a very hectic day, and I'm real busy, so I just wanted to get it over with. I've been running into a lot of bad luck today too, which is a bad sign. For example I tried to put it all on Milwaukee RL +115 today, and even though I confirmed the bet 2 minutes before start time, they locked me out. And then, when I placed my bet for no score in the first inning for this game, it was -105, and when I confirmed the bet they told me the price changed to -115 in that span of 5-10 seconds... lets hope this bad luck isn't a trend that will continue!

stiff....it actually is listed above. top row 5th from the left...I do not want to listed it in case its against any rules....
From further looks it is real similar to another sports book (that is not listed). and when logging into the new book it locked up the site i regularly use. don't know if its a coincidence that I got the dough, but the way to bet, page set up, and every thing else looks the same.
I have accounts at 3 books, and none of them have the same similar look as the site I use...
MODS if any of this message is a violation, I apologize, and feel free to edit it.. if everyone here got a free 50 from them, that'd be cool....IMO
