Va Tech vs USC

Finishing the Yr..VT Lost last 3 games and were 0-5 ATS Last 5 Games..USC won last 9 and were 9-0 ATS..USC will not have 2 Top WR from last Yr(Colbert in NFL and Williams still up in the air) But they will have Guys step up that can do the Job..USC will use RB Reggie Bush in Mismatches vs VT Dbacks..USC is Deep at RB with Dennis, White and Bush(368 Att/1936 yds 5.3 ave) all back from last Yr..QB Matt Leinart was 255/402 (63.4%) 3556 yds 38TDs 9Int and Put up Numbers like Carson Palmer the Yr before..Why..Leinart is a Great QB but Norn Chow is a Great O coach..the Top or at the Top in College running the O..USC is just as Strong on the D side..Last Yr 1st game vs Auburn (some had #1 Pre-Season) USC won 23-0 Total D Dominance Only allowed 164 Total Yds (36/42 yds rushing 1.2 ave..12/26 121 yds passing and 6 Sacks)..USC only allowed 60.2 yds Rushing per game last Yr Ranked 1st in Country..VT is coming in replacing RBs and WRs and Lost backup QB Marcus Vick (which would have played like he did last yr)..RB K. Jones 1647 yds with 5.9 ave 21 TDs is in NFL..Next leading rusher was QB Randall with 404 yds..next RB was Humes at 380 yds..Also VT Big play WR Wilford (NFL 55rec 886 yds) is gone..Next in line is Johnson with 13rec..Only returning O threat is QB Randall and he must stay Healthy..Also lost Main man in Middle Grove(center in NFL) which was the Man on the O line..Only 5 Starters back on D..VT lost both DEs and DeAngelio Hall CB and Punt returner(NFL)..VT is usually Great on Special Teams ( Beamer Ball..Beamer coaches) but last 2 yrs they have not been as Good..Bowl game vs CAL..Gave up 536 total yds (394 yds in Air) and 52 pts..Wow..VT watch out for USC..Another Stat USC is 8-0-1 next season after winning a National Championship..VT is coming in needing to find itself but USC knows who they are..So..

Even with RB Dennis being suspended and QB Leinart with a sore elbow..USC is still solid..Have alot of Great RBs and QB Josh David Booty is another Great QB just waiting for his Chance..On the VT side..I live about 40 minutes from VT and my 2 Sister-in -Laws work there..Last Yr the Team was at Odds with each other..Who to Follow..Randall or Vick?..Pointing Fingers...Vick is out of Picture but Feelings are not..Every Radio show has all the Coaches talk about is how this team has Great chemistry..Practice better then ever..Team is working Together..Best they have ever Seen..Never about the Plans for USC or the Yr..Kinda like when ya Over talk something to make People Think everything is Alright..??..IMO I just believe there is some Damage control there..??..Just don't think this will be the VT team of late 90's and past few yrs..Also just 1 hit away from Lossing their only O Threat from Last Yr (QB Randall)..Good Luck on Whatever side ya take...Hammer em..

This is not the Va Tech team of the 90's anymore...This is not the team you hop on every week because you know Mike Vick himself would cover the spread against any team in the nation. We've seen it the last 2 seasons especially at the end of the year when the big games are played. Va Tech just isn't what they used to be. Now USC on the other hand is again loaded with talent and with Norm Chow lleading this offense I see no reason why the Trojs won't be able to put up some big numbers against the Va Tech D...and as far as the Va Tech offense goes...Im just not seeing them click.

This is just what I see in the Game tonite..I Know 17pts is alot and it is the 1st game and vs a Good team in the past..But here is what I see..I am looking at Football systems and how they run..Yes USC lost some Key guys and Williams will hurt them by not being there..But USC practiced Knowing that he would not be in the Game Plan..VT has to Come up with New WRs New RB (Humes is still banged up and will be more by end of game) New Center (Grove gone) New DEs and Corner (Hall gone)..QB Randall is Good but There are not O Threats with him like USC can put on the Field..Systems..USC can plug in some Great Athletes at Skilled Postions while VT just doesn't have the Quality or Quantity...Norm Chow O Mind is way above Anyone at VT..I'm not just Looking at Players..Looking at Systems also..Should be a Great game because...College Football is Here...:thumbs:

Thor, I agree with you 100%. This is not the VT teams of 4-5 years ago. Randall is there only offensive threat. They are not even ranked for the first time in years. I have seen them picked to finish anywhere from 5 to 8 in the ACC which is not one of the strongest conferences around. While USC probably won't put up 40 points, like they will be doing a lot later in the year I think they will cover. I don't see VT scoring more than 10 points against USC's defense. Good luck:beer2:

Thor, BOL Bro I think you are on the right track!!! VT has 4 returning guys on the offense and 5 on defense. I love the under also!!! USC's QB is nursing a bad elbow and I don't look for a whole bunch of scoring tonight and VT will be lucky to put up 7 to 10 points. BOL!!!!
