With the season fast approaching I thought it would be great to have some established handicappers chime in with some of the things/tools/info they look at when handicapping. Here are a few things that I use.
http://tbeck.freeshell.org/fb/predncaa.html - This is a good site for power rating info.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt04.htm - More power rating stuff.
Statfox matchups - I subscribe to their service but there are places that you can get free matchup info. I like to compare average yds per rush and look for the better rushing team on offense and defense. This is especially good if you find a better rushing team that is a dog!
Phil Steele's College Football preview - Great source for historical info.
Sound money management - I prescribe to the flat betting style of play.
Let us know what you find helpful/useful!
jerbeek....i too am constantly looking at the sagarin....i use the wagerline.com website on a daily basis tracking where the money is going.....more than anything though and exclusively for CFB i do an intense amount of preseason prep work for about 60 college teams....as old school as i am i have manilla folders for each team and update all the preseason prep work i do weekly on each team.....i sit at the desk in my office and pull two folders out at a time for the weekly matchups....i am a lover of system play and allow that to influence my capping as well....the system must make sense though....i detest facts regarding a teams ATS this and that....i think its a bunch of bullshit....especially CFB....
I use a lot of information on Jim Feist's website. I especially look at Rushing Yards, Rushing Yards Allowed, Passing Yards, and Passing Yards Allowed. That gives me a basis and then I go from there.

Hey guys. I don't know how "established" I am on this site but I will chime in with my 2 cents anyway.
I do a lot of prep work also. Before the season starts I will have read up on all 117 teams as seen by a couple different websites.
For the early games I like to look at how many players a team has lost. Also, I like to know if a team is playing their 2nd game against a team playing their first.
Then after the first several weeks I sort of play it by feel. Of course I look rushing/passing offense and defense. But I also go by what I have seen in past weeks (I watch as much CFB as possible).
Anyway, I am looking forward to a great season with the help of this site. Last regular season was quite profitable. Unfortunately the bowls was another story.

Thanks Jerry, did not relize Jeff had put his power ratings up for this year. Power ratings can be profit in the pocket. There not 100 percent but are very useful.

Unfortunatly, I do not have the luxery of working at a desk all day, so all of my preseason info comes from the stacks of preseason mags I read on the floor all day while I'm supposed to be working, LOL. It is a lot of facts and figures to take in.... then I come here to figure out how it all fits together each week. Hopefully the combination of all of us throwing out our picks, stratigies and why, can make us all a lot of money again this year!!!
