Yesterday: 3-2-0 (+1.40 units)
YTD: 9-4-0 (+5.93 units)
Today I have a play on both the side and total.
Denver -2.5 (-118)
Denver/Buffalo U35 (-104)
You'll hear touts boast about how just because Denver's already played one pre-season game this is a sure win for them. While I don't believe anything is for sure, I believe this is a good spot for their "boasting" to actually matchup with the real situation.
Denver played in the HOF game against Washington earlier this week and almost came out on top. As mentioned before by others, under Shanahan, Denver has a pretty good pre-season ATS record. This matchup will pit Denver against a Buffalo team that's got a new coach at the helm for his first ever game with the team.
Denver's QB rotation will consist of Plummer, Kanell, and Mauck. Kanell and Mauck are both expected to see more time, and I suspect you'll see Kanell play some with the 1st string offense. While Shanahan didn't specifically say that, it is what I've been able to infer since Kanell is, in essence, fighting for the backup QB spot with Mauck. This gives a tremendous advantage for Denver to score more points than Buffalo early.
Buffalo's QB rotation will consist of Bledsoe, Travis Brown, J.P. Losman, and Greg Zolman. I am unsure as to how long most of these guys will play, but with this being the first pre-season game I would imagine Bledsoe, at most, plays one quarter, with the remaining guys getting a quarter or so each. Brown has 5 years of experience, but Losman and Zolman are both young guys without much experience.
I feel that the key points here are Denver's 2nd pre-season game (starters will play a little longer) and Buffalo's brand new coaching staff that will help lead to a Denver victory. I also expect Buffalo to have trouble scoring here, and I don't expect Denver to go point crazy, either, so I believe there is a good chance the point score will stay UNDER the posted total.
