To answer rjp's question on weighting....

I get all my data from USA today baseball matchup data...

I enter games played, IP, overall era, AF, AA, last 3 era, AF, AA . BP era & last 3 era......

All of this is computed & generates a run expectation...

I've since (today) added a differential of overall era & last 3 era, plus overall BP era & last 3 BP era....

This figure is added to my original run expectation to make the final score more in tune to the last 3 performance, hopefully...

The score generated for T.B. game is... TB -5....Sea. - 3 .....((2-1) actual score...)....

Lets see how the new stuff works.....

I don't like to use overall numbers because I think it can dillute what you're after--something other than what the book shows (i.e. public perception). Nothing wrong with going after a recent teams performance trend, as that's a good idea. However, you may want to try something using home/away numbers for the teams and track it to see how it does. :thumbs:

Yeah rjp that's what I've been seeing , that the overall data gets to be swamped with IP's of 140 +.....

That dilutes the recent performance too much when it's all computed together....

I only use home & away to make a final wagering decision & do not compute it in any fashion.....May look into a way to process that......

As it is it takes me a couple of hours to amass all the data , enter it & then process it mentally.......

I enter the data for all the games but a lot of the results are too close to make a determination, so I only play the games that show a definite result...

Anyways I'll see what this round of stuff does....

That being said take this stuff with a grain of salt.......

Caveat Emptor.......Is that the right phrase?????
