Make a list of the best NFL books to have before the start of the season. I just went and bought 3 magazines and I am going to start going thru them team by team. I hope that some of you can tell me the name of the book that is referred to as the betting bible.
Doc's sports journal is a book I keep all my stats in for the whole season. To me it is a must have as you can go back and look what happened last season. I make notes on games and how coaches did against the opposing team. Any help on must have books for the NFL season would be greatly appreciated. I find myself pulling over on the side of the road just to read for a while. Have to waste a few minutes of the day every day. Besides that my help hates having me around watching their every move. Hope some of you can help and I was going to get into baseball gambling but their is to much fighting going on over there. Sad to see to be honest with you. GL

Which 2 books did I get. I bought 7 magazines and one book about NFL capping. I buy these same magazines every year and read them front to back. I found a couple of new books out on the market about NFL capping so I bought those also. I heard about book that is referred to as the betting bible but I am unsure of the name of it. I also am looking in stores for a Doc's Sports Journal as I keep all my stats in it for the season. I looked in barnes and noble the other day but I did not find it. Let me know of any books you guy's know of as I am a reading fool about now. It beats watchign all the fighting in the baseball forum. Hope some of you can offer some suggestions on books, the more the better. By the way, the Lions should be much improved. But then I have only read 2 of the magazines. GL

No I have never bought that one. I just went out and got the Goldsheets College and Pro Football Annual and it has some very good info on pre-season and it has good numbers on the teams. It also has college but I ripped that section out and threw it away.
Just got done with Lindy's American League football authority and it had a lot on who was where and the draft and rating each team. You can get an idea who all these so called experts are looking at. I am now going to start Street an Smith's Pro Football. For the most part these magazines are similiar but they all break down different parts of the game. Its nice to read how certain players are adapting to their new homes. Some will make immediate impacts and others will be a while coming. Same with the Draft class. Some are ready to step in and others going to sit a season and be a practice dummy. The handicapping angles in the Gold Sheet magazine are very good and I am making notes as I go. For the most part I have my own system and I use this for the info on the actually players and how they are fitting together. Last year is last year and with the free agent market things can change rather fast. Its important to see how everyone is coming along even though most camps have not opened up yet. Players that are unhappy are also important. They usually sit out and then come in and don't last long. They always tend to get hurt because they didn't get themselves ready for the up and coming season. If you can't tell I can hardly wait for this to get rolling. GL

I will look for your insight. I am kind of excited to see who knows what in the NFL. I am very, very, very solid every year in college (i absolutely love college football...usually make 2-3 roadies a year to some big games/places) and end up way ahead, but i am very average to sometimes crappy in the pros. It would be nice to string a winning season together in the NFL. Was just up in Sacratomato this past weekend. Got invited to the trials up in some suite (i guess peja and vlade were there on SUN) but i passed. Played a bunch of golf and went to the Raven instead...lol. GL, talk to you around.

The Sporting News preview has good, solid information and almost no adds. Just information from cover to cover. Hope this helps.

There's only one stats book out there worth getting every year - Al O'Donnells Pointspread Playbook.
Al is a class act and his book is a good deal.

Does anyone know whether anywhere will ship any of these internationally? I always have great trouble getting hold of capping material here in the UK.
