Outright plays (1pt):

Angel Cabrera to win 20/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler
Good price for a player who has played in Europe four times this season, finishing 4th, 2nd, mc and 2nd. His record at the K Club is equally impressive with five top-10 finishes in the last six years. That was on the Palmer course and this event in being played on the Smurfit course for the first time, but he clearly has a liking for the venue and this is a course that has very fast and demanding greens. Apart from being a very long hitter, he has a very good short game - he ranked in the top-10 in 'total putting' on the European Tour - and has coped well on very fast greens in the United States. He should cope well this week.

Nick O'Hern to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
Retaining two of last week's players as see little reason to drop them. O'Hern finished 2nd last week, which meant he has had six top-5 finishes in his last ten starts and he is currently on a run of finishing 4th, 3rd and 2nd. Ranked 3rd in total putting as well as 4th in scoring average on the European Tour, he should do well on the new course. Will gladly take the same odds as last week.

Anders Hansen to win 50/1 e.w. available generally
Hansen's odds have almost doubled over last week, which represents excellent value for a player who still ranks 2nd in scoring average on the European Tour as well as 2nd in the 'overall' category, both times behind Els. With nine top-15 finishes in his last twelve starts, he has shown consistency at this level and can certainly compete with the best in Europe who are available at much lower odds.

72-hole matchup plays (1pt unless stated):

Angel Cabrera to beat Ian Poulter -125 @ Five Dimes
Both capable of winning, but Poulter is certainly opposable in match bets. For example, whereas Cabrera has finished in the top-10 in seven of his last ten events in Ireland, making the cut every time, Poulter has made the weekend in three three of nine starts in Ireland. In terms of current form, Cabrera has finished ahead of Poulter in each of the last five common events, so should be a strong favourite to do so again.

Retief Goosen to beat Justin Rose -200 @ NordicBet [2pts]
These odds are as low as I'll go for a matchup, but will gladly take the chance to oppose Rose. On Monday he declared "There's no point going if you've got no chance to win - and I'm hitting it terrible" though at least he has changed his mind. Even if he were at the top of his game, he would struggle to beat the U.S. Open champion over 72 holes.

Nick O'Hern to beat Justin Rose -114 @ Expekt [2pts]
And will oppose him with one of the outright selections. O'Hern has a 9-2-0 h2h record against Rose across all events in the past year and with Rose really struggling at the moment and O'Hern in his best form for years, this should be an easy win.
(also available at BlueSq)

Nick O'Hern to beat Graeme McDowell -110 @ SkyBet
Will take on McDowell as well with O'Hern. Both have been in great form over the last two events, but McDowell has finished ahead of O'Hern only three times in ten common events in 2004. There is also an increased emphasis on putting ability this week, particularly on fast surfaces, and this should heavily favour O'Hern. McDowell has ranked 108th, 110th and 70th in 'total putting' in his three years on the European Tour.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts

Cabrera 8th
O'Hern 10th
Hansen mc

Two players in the top-10, but no return. The writing was on the wall as soon as O'Hern finished the first day in joint 1st place. He struggles from that position on the back nine on Sunday, so he was unlikely to stay there for three days.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 4-0-0; +6.00pts

Cabrera/Poulter WON by 6
Goosen/Rose WON by 11
O'Hern/Rose WON by 1
O'Hern/McDowell WON by 16

Nice sweep to bring the event into profit. Nothing from the outrights with Cabrera and O'Hern and passed over Goosen in that market, but at least they delivered here.
