Can't even show up for practice and uses Mothers day as an excuse. The athletes today could not hold a candle to the athelets of years gone by. Once again MONEY is ruining sports and most of these losers couldn't hold down a job if their life depended on it. His use of the English language tells me that he has maybe a 4th grade education yet he demands more money. His play was next to nothing in the last two seasons and I think the team is doing the right thing by moving on with out him. Someone needs to change his diapers and give him a baby blanket. Just another loser in the sports world. Imagine that.. Maybe he can go hang out with Webber for a while. Then he can get his loser instincts down to an art. He can thank God I am not the coach. He would be riding the pine for the entire season. I hope he shows his true colors and doesn't even show up. We will see....

Never liked the guy. Always seemed a little off to me and always seemed a little soft for being such a big reciever. He has potential, but has to keep his head into it. LIke you said, we will see.

He has -always- rubbed me the wrong way. Always referred to him as "Plexico A&%hole."

He is made of plastic, he is always holding something together. Would not surprise me to see the dumb ass sit out the season. It would be blessing to the team. No one person is bigger then a whole team. He may be big but he doesn't have what it takes to ask for more money. This is a fine reason why these guys should play for their pay. Most of them would be living like the rest of us.

I cant remember who said it but i always liked it when someone regered to him as Plexiglass. The ironic thing is that i think a baltimore Raven told the media that a few yeares ago. Then when the steelers played baltimore in b-more on monday night the steelers came out and had a great game, and Burress really played well also. He has a lot of potential, putting all of that together will be hard. He will have the help of Big Ben late this season i believe and with his mobility he will help all of the recievers on this team. ALso, as the running game improves so will the passing game. At some point i believe that the steelers will put this thing together. I just dont know when that will be.

If you've heard him interview he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I really think this is a classic example of a player following the bad advice of his greedy agent.
As a Steeler fan, he's no big loss. Hines Ward was and is the man. We got a back up named Mays that can replace Burress in a heart beat.

Plexico is a worthless fuck....he has one good year and now thinks he is the shit after 2 shitty years..fuck him that bitch.
At least he won't use Father's Day as an excuse because 10/1 says him and his momma have no clue who pops is

The best part is that the team is moving on with out him. I don't think they are pushing the issue. I hope he sits out because he is not worth the head ache he brings to the team. GL
no doubt this asshole is getting bad advice.....either from his agent or his lame brain.....regardless....we need him to catch 75+ passes this year....we know he can do it....he needs to get his head out of his ass or his nose out of the candy.....head out of the ganj cloud.....whatever.....we need him to reestabish himself as a deep threat.....i am staying as positive as i can and hope he gets his act together and gets into being a team player....maybe with Maddox signing there will be a little trickle down effect....again....just me being positive.....where is Louis Lipps when you need him??

LMAO, he is on permanent vacation. lol Glad you can stay positive but I can't stand athletes that think they are bigger then the game. People like this can bring down a whole team. I am glad that they are moving on with out him. He can and will be replaced and that is the way it is supposed to be. I appreciate your input but I see this guy as a cancer and the sooner he is gone the better. GL
I know where you are coming from but I am being a stupid, selfish Steeler fan.....we dont have anyone on the roster who can play like plexiglass when plexiglass wants to play.....if we had our hands around another player that could produce I would off him in a minute....without that player we need this spoiled mfckng cckskr to get his ass in gear and for just this season learn how to spell the word T_E_A_M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK guys I found the real story on what happened on Plexico:
Madden: Burress shouldn't catch flak for standing his ground

By Mark Madden
Some say Plaxico Burress could have showed the Steelers' younger players something about dedication by showing up at minicamp, by not joining his brothers on Mother's Day to grieve the death of their mother, and by catching a few footballs.
I say Burress showed the Steelers' younger players something far more important. Burress showed them that family comes first.
"Family over football" is the motto of most NFL teams -- as long as family never interferes with football, that is. For example, you could tell by the grimace etched in Bill Cowher's jaw as he discussed Burress' absence that he is more comfortable preaching that philosophy than he is living it.
Burress' mother died two years ago. Burress felt it was important to be with his younger brothers on Mother's Day, so he skipped minicamp. Burress' agent informed the Steelers. An angry Cowher termed Burress' absence "unexcused."
I don't think Burress' absence was a ploy to get a new contract. I don't think he would lie in the name of his late mother. Burress has worked out and watched film at the Steelers' South Side complex this offseason. It's not as if Burress has disappeared.
Burress missed minicamp. Big deal. It's meaningless. When was the last time somebody won a Super Bowl, hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy and said, "We knew this was possible when we had a great minicamp back in May"? Never.
The rookies learn a little at minicamp. Everyone else is just punching the clock. Minicamp is just another way to make sure the players know they're on a leash, so they jump the required height whenever the team tells them to.
Don't believe all that nonsense about building camaraderie. Former Steelers linebacker Jack Ham won four Super Bowls, and he says that camaraderie is the most overrated thing in pro sports.
The "voluntary" workouts and coaching sessions are also just another way to get the players to roll over and bark. All the Steelers attended the "voluntary" workouts last offseason. And they still stunk. They still went 6-10. Gee, what a waste of all that camaraderie.
The NFL bullies its players. The NFL Players' Association is a lame union. Can you imagine the players' union in baseball turning a blind eye to "voluntary" offseason workouts that aren't really voluntary?
People who play pro football aren't lucky. They may be fortunate to get paid what they do, but football is the most dangerous pro sport. You don't get killed with a single collision like in NASCAR, but your body gets broken down. You leave a little bit of yourself on that field every play.
Many football players have severe health problems after retiring. They usually aren't the aftermath of one big injury. They're the result of the down-by-down beating. If any athletes deserve a true offseason, it's football players. But his down time is cluttered with minicamps and "voluntary" workouts.
Your mother died two years ago, Plax? Your younger brothers are having a hard time dealing with that as Mother's Day approaches, Plax?
Worry about that next week. Right now, we need you to run around aimlessly in shorts and a T-shirt.
Why? Pretty much just to prove we can make you do it.
Burress was right when he said the Steelers were inconsiderate by scheduling minicamp on Mother's Day weekend. I bet Dan Rooney didn't work on Mother's Day. I bet Art Rooney II didn't, either. When the Steelers say "family first," maybe they mean Rooney family first.
Burress didn't hurt the team by missing minicamp. It's not like he missed a playoff game, a regular-season game, a preseason game, or even a day of training camp.
Give Burress credit. He had the courage to not let himself be bullied into doing something meaningless when he had a more important issue to deal with. True, maybe all the Steelers wanted to be with their families on Mother's Day. If that's the case, they should have skipped minicamp, too. Attending minicamp doesn't make them team players. It makes them sheep.
I don't even see Burress' actions as a bad PR move. If they are, it's no big deal, because he's gone after the upcoming season, anyway.
But for every beer-soaked yinzer who is mad as hell because Burress let down the Stillers n'at, 10 people who live in the real world might think it's cool that he put his family first.
If you hate Burress for no-showing minicamp, maybe your mom didn't hold you enough when you were a kid. Don't blame Burress for your own psychological issues. Don't blame him for putting his family ahead of football. Don't blame him because your priorities insanely revolve around Steeler Nation.
If you'd rather tailgate than take mom to Sunday brunch occasionally, that says a lot bad about you. What Burress did says a lot good about him.

This is nice to read and makes me feel like eating crow for starting this thread. I understand wanting to be around your brothers and sisters during such an important time but why not just come out and say that. Why all the beating around the bush about being unhappy with his contract. Glad to see he has his values in the right spot. Family comes before anything in this house... GL
steel.....is that cajun crow or chili crow.....wish I too would have seen that article.....and you have to remember I have a soft side for Plax for coming over before the last espn sunday night game in baltimore last year and talking to my son and signing his Burris jersey before the game....listen....Maddox will be on again this year....the O line will keep him from running for his life.....plax and hines will catch 200 passes between them for about 5000 yards.....fellow Gamecock Duece will run loose and the D will step up......I'm thinking 13-3 and a cakewalk to the AFC final vs. NE.....I'm sorry....my partner just pinched me and I woke up....lol

Its early so I was wondering if you were dreaming. The offensive line is going to be work in progress this season. The best thing about this season is that Bill Cowher will be GONE if he does not make it to the playoffs. I do feel that he is not what he once was and I think it is time for him to pack his bags. I know you hate hearing this but facts are facts. He can't win the big game and he has proven that on more then one occasion. By the way, thanks for putting the word "game" in front of the word "cock". LOL.. GL
i do love cowher and hope he can get the black and gold pumped again this year like he has in the past....i think if we get outta the gate this year it will be a different year.....and your welcome....lol
