Going out on a limb here, but I am going to make a bold statement and say that my Tigers could very well be BCS Bowl contenders this year. Losing Hamilton and Youngblood is going to hurt at WR, not having big physical guys, but Currie moving to wideout with his 4.3 speed will be able to stretch the field vertically and then Gaddis will probably be moved to slot from backup QB, He has 4.4 speed so the ability to have slants is there after Whitehurst checks off. Big Ben Hall is only going to be better this year, I can't remember the last time we had a TE that could be used for anything but run blocking. I could go on and on, but my point is that the TIgers should move into the top 10 this year. Welcome any comments.:yeah:

Payday.... honestly bro.... I think it's a big stretch to say Clemson is in contention to get a BCS berth when they play in a conference with Fla. St, Miami, VaTech, UVA, NC St, Maryland....

the only ones on the list there that I am worried about would be FSU and Miami, one good thing is that we do not even play VT this year. Miami needs a QB and FSU can be beat, 26-10. I know it is a stretch but I bleed orange and this is the year, of course we have been saying the same since 81'. THis year I can see it being a reality, not a championship but maybe top 8 or 9. We have a complete offense as long as Bowden is not afraid to open it up and when he began to run his offense last year starting with FSU, that is what he did. ON D, we are strong in the secondary with guys that can give run support. I hope our line plays like they did in the peach bowl. hey buddy, I know I am on a limb right now, but dont trim the tree yet, I am gonna have my fun until the fall. No matter what, we will still beat S. carolina.

I think that Clemson will have a great year and although that may seem like a stretch, it is a possibility. Now i believe that the Acc is gonna be a lot better competitively. I hate FSU so with Miami, VT, Maryland, NCSU, and Clemson all looking good at the beginning really gives me hope that we can get rid of FSU from being at the top.
Just out of curiosity-- when does Boston College officially become in the ACC. Is it this year or next year, or do i have this all screwed up and they arent even gonna be in the acc?

BC leaves next year. This year they Play in the Big East. I dont know how long the Big East will be around for. WVU/VT game is still on for the next 10 years.

Yeah the big east has to do something. They have lost 2 and soon to be 3 football powerhouses. They seem to be getting better in Basketball and worse in football. The Acc and the big east seemed to have flip-flopped. Although the acc is still great at bball.

With all due respect, I think you should be very worried about ALL of them... they all have more talent, and better coaching... doesn't mean Clemson can't beat them... but to beat most or all of them, and get a BCS berth, is a bit like thinking the Orioles got a shot at winning the AL East.... i.e. not friggn likely...

Any road game in the Acc is tough. At Miami, At FSU, At Virginia. I am sure there are others which are possible. Doesnt Clemson play Georgia and South Carolina out of confernce this year. Right there are 5 teams that were very good last year that could give a few problems to Clemson. NOt to mention Maryland and NCSu. THe acc may be so good that no team dominates and no team from the acc will be a national championship contender. All are good enough to be considered but they could concel eachother out. HTe team that wins the Acc this year could have 2 losses and have no chance at the National title. It could be like that for awhile.

Your telling me about it being only may. Hell when the super bowl ended i went stupid. HOw the hell can i go from February until late august for football. I am aching to see football again. there is nothing better than football. And as quickly as the season comes, it leaves just as soon. That part of my year goes by in a heartbeat.

I checked and Clemson does not play Georgia but they do go on the road to Texas A&M. Which starts a 3 game away streak where they go to Texas A&M, at FSU, and then at Virginia. There is a week off before the Virginia game.

Virginia and NC State are tough, but I would not venture to say better talent, I might give you better coaching. Come on, Virginia is on its way, because old Al's system is starting to establish, however, with the awesome young talent they have at linebacker, they are still going to get creamed if they do not come out of the 3-4. Al should have left that in the NFL.
State will not be able to replace Rivers's knowledge for a long time.
DWD14
out of conference this year will be s. carolina, utah state (both at home) and away at A & M. usc blows donkey cock, a & m does too, but it is tough to go there and play. USU, do not know much, but that game is homecoming so the tigers should be pumped.
Basically, it is like this, Clemson will be atop the ACC as long as Bowden doesn't swallow his balls again and go conservative. Last year, he let Brad Scott call his plays and he was way to conservative. After the Wake game, his job was as good as gone and he pretty much came out to FSU with the f&&8it mindset and opened it up. He did that the rest of the season, called his game and used his recruit's abilities. The abilities that he went for to begin with. Strong armed quarterback, speed on the outside, tight-end with hands, etc.
I still like Miami, I follow them almost as close as Clemson, but they are in trouble this year if they do not settle the QB situation with a viable player.
Regardless, this is why I cannot wait till football. I love to talk about it and give my opinions, but now I have to wait till august.
As long as we are all on the same side when saturdays come and that is against the man.

the opener between USC and V-TECH at FED-EX FIELD should be a good one
see my post here in college....i am buried on the same page with you.....and to those who know me....rooster booster.....i was learned at USC.....the USC in Columbia, SC.....tigers have the gamecocks at home this year and even with the big rivalry the cocks will be limp in this game.....listen to me talking like it is December.....trying not to put a foot in my mouth too soon.....I am sure there will plenty of time for that once the season starts.....but I am already goose bumpy about laying on Clemson heavy this year.....I really think 9-2 or 10-1 is within reason here.....they will handle both Maryland and NCST at home this year.....miami and FLAST on the road will be tough but I can see this team winning one of those....if they can handle the Cav's on the road on a thursday night espn game 10/7 look out for the rest of the year......I will be capping every Clemson game hard this season.....
Damn...this thread has me STOKED!!!! I don't even have my Missouri season tickets in my hand yet and you all go me fired up. Mizzou (ranked #19 in poll above) schedule for 2004:
Home - Arkansas State
At Troy State
Home - Ball State
Home - Colorado
At Baylor
At Texas
Home - Oklahoma State
At Nebraska
Home - Kansas State
Home - Kansas
At Iowa State
Looking like a 9-2 or 8-3 season in store for my Tigers!!!! IF...and its a BIG IF they can win EITHER the Nebraska road game OR the Kansas State Home Game they got a shot at winning the North Division which would give them a Big 12 Title game Vs. the winner of the South (probably either Oklahoma or Texas) and Mizzou would have an outside shot at a BCS game.
Sure is fun to dream at this point!!!

Well not going to work, I dont think anybody posted his bail over in Ohio in a store robbery, and shooting.
We had one of the top Girl's Basketball recuits in the nation and she still may go to Tenn but who knows. Idiot was caught shop lifting at the Walmart. What did she steal. LMAO Beach towel, Suntan lotion and a pair of sunglasses. What is wrong with this kids.

Hey Thor you got to love it around here. LOL
MITCH VINGLE(Sports Writer from Charleston WV) THE CRUEL jokes surfaced almost immediately. South Charleston basketball star Alexis Hornbuckle, is sure to lead Tennessee in steals next season.
Rich Rodriguez certainly isn't ready to embrace Raymond Williams. In fact, Wednesday afternoon the West Virginia football coach said he intends to withdraw his scholarship offer...
Rich Rodriguez says the Mountaineers will look for another running back to replace recruit Raymond Williams, who is charged in Ohio with murder and aggravated robbery. Earlier this week, WVU withdrew its scholarship...

PS..Why did they have to Rank WVU so High..??
the game in Lincoln is probably gonna be a ballbuster for your tigers.....it appears no one or their mother is giving the huskers any respect at all this year so far and that scares me.....and you know as well as me how tough it is even when the huskers are on a down year to go into Lincoln and win.....i personally would love to see the tigers have to face the sooners in the Big XII title game.....as well as beat Nebraska....dont have the numbers in front of me but I think the tigers are about 2-28 in the last 30 years vs. the huskers....

Yep Thor it was Hornbuckle. She sign a letter of intent. UT said she can still come play because she was not an enrolled student. So as it stands now she will go to UT. UCONN wanted her bad too. She can play, if she dont screw up anymore one day we may see her in the WNBA.
Hey one year Beano Cook ranked WVU number 1 and they was Number 2 that year. Yep got shit on by Notre Dame. LOL If they can get by Maryland (ACC TEAM)we got it made in the rankings. They should be the Big East Champs this year. So looking for them to go to a BCS bowl and choke again. LOL Guess we will know in December.

Hey Dead,
I've been coming to this site for two years.......this year I'll start posting. My main focus is capping the Big XII, where I will bet on all intraleague games and many out of conference game. I've used your info, so anytime you want my opinion just give a yell. Lets get this thing started.

I agree with Iowa in the top 10, and no, I'm not a "homer" if thats what you are thinking. Granted we will be opening the season with a brand new QB in Drew Tate, but the defense--which was top notch last season, may be even better this year. Our first road Big-10 game with our new QB is on Sept 25th at Michigan, who is ranked ahead of us in the Pre-Season polls. If we could somehow get past Michigan at the Big House and Ohio State in Iowa City on Oct 16th, the Big 10 can be ours for the taking. You guys and Queen, too...lol.. may find this crazy, but I believe the Iowa program is at the point where a National Championship is within our grasps in the next few years.
JB--
Why are your puzzy baby Tiggers backing out of the home and home we were supposed to begin in '05? You can't very well be talking about how good of a program you are if you are going to duck out of your comittments to play a real team or two before the conference season begins.... 25,000 is all you gave us to get out of the first two years of a 4 year home and home series....you guys are a bunch of chickens...Bawk!! Bawk!! .....
dont make us ask for your opinion....just give it to us....that is what this is all about....information gathering and sharing....nice to know we have another Big XII capper.....spill your guts!!

Yeah....Clempson will destroy NC State.....just look what happened last time they went to death valley....LMAO!!!
With all due respect, know what you are talking about before you chalk up wins against Maryland and NC State. NC State is loaded with talent at every position. If we have a QB who doesn't make mistakes, watch out. With that being said, I'm not claiming any wins yet. And yes, Maryland loses a lot....but Ralph has proven he is the best coach in the ACC.
Clempson is in a very similar situation we were last year. Big time QB coming back, but weak in the trenches. I would wait to see your D-line before booking BCS accomodations.

I have to believe my LSU Tigers will have another great season, Saban will finally have all of his own recruits playing for him. Saban is a great recruiter, I remember his 1st year at Michigan State he had those boys competing in the BIG 10. I would love to see LSU vs So. Cal for the championship this year, but, thats a long way off and a lot of things would have to happen between now and then!!!!

Ok, all this talk about the ACC, the big east, etc. You must not forget about the toughest conference of all ........the SEC!
As much as hate to admidt it being a Vol fan and all is the the bulldogs look tough this year. I dont want to believe all the hype because believe me being from around here I have heard it already. Thank God no one I know (at least I hope) reads this message board but the dogs do have a shot this year. I mean they wont beat UT and all but I will never say that, but you watch another SEC team will be in the hunt.
Rivers4heisman

Czar-
The SEC has dominated the South in football for many, many years but that will not be the case anymore. Yes, I will still give the SEC the nod over the ACC until proven otherwise, but there is not much seperating the confernces anymore....except academic standards:wink:
Do you follow recruiting? UT got one from us at the last minute on signing day.....Brent Schaffer.....QB from S. Florida. Could be a good one for you guys.
Best of luck this year.

Mizzou will not come to Lincoln and win period. Nebraska will struggle early in the year, but they will be read to roll by the time the tiggers roll into town. It will be a low-scoring affair, but nebraksa prevails.
