TOR ML/PK -155..................4*............This series has had NOTHING to do with momentum. PHI couldn't hold it from games 1/2 and TOR couldn't hold the momentum they had from games 3/4. This series has had EVERYTHING to do with home ice. You can't overlook the jeckyl and hyde factor of these teams home vs. away. TOR is 5-1 at home in the playoffs (won last 5) and has allowed just 7 GOALS in 6 home games. Belfour and TOR have only allowed 3 goals in the last 5 home games after allowing 4 goals in game1 vs. OTT. PHI on the other hand is 1-3 on the road in the playoffs (0-2 vs. TOR) and has yet to look impressive at any point on the road in EITHER series. They scored just 2 goals in TOR in games 3 and 4. They are giving up 3GPG on the road, as well. TOR is a team that relies on emotion less than a system, more so than any other team in the NHL. They have fed off the home crowd all playoffs long. I don't see game6 being much different. Esch is questionable for game6 (though i think he probably plays) and Malakhov won't play for PHI. This takes a valuable 2 way forward away from PHI, as Kap will now play defense. Ken Klee is out for TOR, which is a significant loss, as well. I can't find a thing from a handicapping perspective that makes me want to play PHI. The momentum thing is a bunch of crap. It pains me to do so, but I will take TOR in game6, as PHI wins it at home in game7....Notes: Home teams 5-0 in series.
Debating:
COL ML/PK -150................3*...............This series has had EVERYTHING to do with momentum. COL has made the adjustments both defensively and offensively. I will ride the team that is playing better NOW in this series and has the HOF finishers like Sakic and Forsberg, and that is COL. SAN has been gripping the sticks in the last 2 games. COL, on the other hand, has been gaining confidence by the minute. They are playing loose and well. Abeischer has been every bit as sharp, if not better than Nabakov over the last 3 games. Karyia will play in game6. Selanne, who was MIA for the entire season, finally has shown up in the past 2 games. Tanguay and Blake are questionable and will be game time decisions. I would feel much better playing on COL with them in the lineup. That is one of the pieces of information i am waiting on for tomorrow. SAN has only scored 6 goals in 4 road playoff games this year, while COL has only allowed 5 goals in 5 home playoff games.
All the numbers point to an under here in this one. May take a shot at that one here as well.
Propbets:
COL -130 first goal
PHI/TOR OT +225
There is not tremendous value, honestly, in these 2 home team plays. I refuse to play the dogs and hope game, though. I do think these are the right sides here. All these games are getting very tight. There really is very little advantage to playing games that can be decided on a single bounce. It is getting time to keep the plays to a minimum.
Congrats, finally to CALGARY. They completely outworked a DET team that thought the other 29 teams were going to hand them a cup because they were Hull and Shanny and Hatcher and Yzerman etc..
GL to everyone!
