By far after battling through injuries, on and off the court distractions, and countless other woes of the Lakers season today will be their biggest test and tell if the Purple and Gold have a chance at taking out the Spurs. In Game 1 today how the Lakers perform against the defending champion Spurs will set the tone for the entire series. If the Purple and Gold can't get a win today or Wednesday day in San Antonio before going to LA for Game 3, put a fork in them! It's no secret the Lakers showed their vulnerability through out the entire season mainly due to injuries, and if vulenerability rears it's head in this best-of-seven series against the Spurs, Spurs roll!
The Spurs after sweeping the Grizzlies in Round 1, enter today's game and series well rested and prepped. The Lakers excerted a lot of energy in Round 1 against the Rockets getting beat once 102-91 in Game 3, and struggled to take Game 1 in the ugliest game of the postseason played thus far getting the win by the score of 72-71 to take their series in 5 games. When on the road this year the Lakers have been horrid in taking the cash with a dismal 14-28-1 ATS away mark, and this feat now will become even harder to accomplish with the playoff intensity that will be displayed by the Spurs. After having time off as the Round 1 series ended for the Lakers will not bode well with their investors as they are 1-5 ATS when coming off 3 days rest or more. The ability for the Lakers to cash just hasn't been there! Overall in their last 22 contest they are 6-16 ATS much to the delight of the books as the Lakers get more play than most other clubs simply because they're the Lakers!
The Spurs on the other hand have been making their investors very happy! At home this season the Spurs are a strong 28-14-1 ATS, and even more impressive in their last 18 games overall they own a very profitable ATS record of 14-4. Today Duncan will shut Shaq down making him a non-factor in the Lakers attempt to steal Game 1. Take the Spurs as they'll get a double-digit win.
