So the magic begins - the "this is who we are/aren't drafting" game has begun - and the Dolphins started contract talks with Jake Long, which probably means they won't pick him, right? Or maybe they thought we'd think that they were just smoke screening us, in which case, the started contract talks with him first to fool us into thinking they were screening, and actually he's there guy...

They aren't talking to the quarterback anymore, so maybe they're going with him.

They won't be trading down, that I'm sure of, who wants to sign a guy to a contract that big? Especially a guy that isn't proven yet.

Which brings me to my point - the NFL contracts are screwed. It makes it so young kids get way too much money and they also all get to come late to camp- for nothing. It's dumb.

Will the Falcons take a great defensive prospect or sign a quarterback to a huge deal, and never really know if he's going to be good. McFadden? No way - they just signed Turner to a big deal. Dorsey? Injuries.

The Draft is going to be crazy, and I can't wait - even shortened though it is, I'm sure it will surpass 6 hours for just Round 1 - that's what I'm talking about. 6 hours of Boomer talking about college kids - can't wait for those obscure rock and roll references.

Here's my super sleeper comment of the week - Brian Brohm will be better than Matt Ryan. THere it is. I said it because, well, I think it.

As it turns out, it was a screen-screen/not a screen at all, and now Jake will be a Dolphin. Not only that, but there will be no stupid hold out because the contract is already signed. Thank God! That is the dumbest shit in sports - NFL rookie contract holdouts destroy 1st season upside and the chance that hundreds of people won't hate you from the beginning.

Kudos to the Dolphins.

I think picking Long was a good move, but the tackle class is pretty large, and with the first pick in Round 2, i think they could have plucked a pretty good option. Needless to say, there won't be many great defensive ends by then. Who knows, maybe this guy is Tony Beselli without all the problems.

What is the stupidest thing about this? Long is now the highest paid Tackle in football....

That's dumb as shit!

I'm sick of people saying that the Patriots are going to pick a corner back at #7 - I've read a few mock drafts, and only a small sample of them make note of the fact that the Patriots didn't want to pay 50 million bucks to a pro-bowl corner, so why in the hell would they pay $50 million bucks to a rookie? D-line, O-line - it's not like this team is needy. They'll find a corner in the 2nd, 3rd, or 2nd day that will produce better than most of the early picks, because their defense doesn't need a super-hero at the position.

Also, I'm wondering if Chris Long or Dorsey would go #2 then #3 - that's how I have it, Long than Dorsey, and I bet a little money on it, but I think Dorsey will be tough for the Rams to pass up.
