if he re-signs with the oil in the offseason brilliant move ( tho they could've gotten better ) but if they don't have any intention of bringing him back I would hate it if I were an oilers fan. If I knew the heart and soul of my team is gone and definately not coming back I would want more than 2 average prospects and 1 first rounder.

He will not be coming back by the looks of it. He sounded pretty upset they wanted to now talk about an extension and why would he go back he will get 5 mill plus from every other team out there except EDM. If they didnt bite now there definitley not going to after UFA's drive his price up

I think the bottom line in all this is that Smyth wants more than the Oil are willing to pay. Whether it's now, or in the off-season, this would have been his last year as an Oiler.

So you might as well get something for him...

Blame Lowe all you want...but I think he was really handcuffed on this one.

I dont blame him for having to move him, i'd blame him for the assets coming back. He had to know there was a chance Smyth would be moved, why not put the feelers out a month ago. They could've gotten better than the tkachuk deal as it stands its marginally better than the Guerin deal but Barriball could develop into a better player than the 2 prospects the oil got, making it potentially worse.

Haha...I'm not even sure it's better than the Guerin deal...

I really don't think much of O'Marra or Nilsson.

So yeah...I don't like the return at all. But we'll see how it all works out...
