What do you guys think is the % of underdogs who win the first set (but not the match) as compared to the second set. I am talking about a three set match for mens or womens. I feel a high percentage of potential "live dogs" can come away with the first set but winning the whole match is a different story. I think money can be made employing the strategy of picking a first set winner as opposed to a big upset. Just curious what you guys think??

I've been thinking about the same thing lately. Too often you spot a live underdog, make the bet, and then watch them win the first set...only to have the favorite wake up and take the next 2 sets.

The odds are much worse if you're betting on just the first set only so I think it probably evens out in the end. For me, it's easier to just bet on the match rather than get cute and start betting on sets and shit. But once in a while I really have a feeling then I'll do it. It worked when I bet on Jankovic to win the first set from Henin at the USO last year.

So I guess if you pick your spots you could make it work...
