ATP Delray Beach - Round Robin Matches

4 * Mayer, Florian v Kunitsyn, Igor - Mayer, Florian to win @ $1.62

Mayer had a good showing at the Australian Open making it to the round of 32 losing to eventual semi-finalist Tommy Haas. But the big win for me was his 1st round match against Robin Soderling where he came back from 2 sets to 1 down to win the match in 5. Really showing some Stamina in that match. Although his performances prior to the Open were nothing special I believe he could very well come out and have a good showing at the Beach. Also I always like having a player who is much taller than his opponent on a hard court. Mayer is 6ft 5 compare this to Igor who is 5ft 11. Igor did really well in Adelaide in the new Round Robin system with a big win over Hewitt but since then has struggled to find some competitive form since then losing to Santoro in the Open.

ATP Zagreb - 1st Round

5 * Bracciali, Daniele v Benneteau, Julien - Benneteau, Julien to win @ $1.60

Both players lost in the Australian Open in the first round in surprise defeats. The reason for me backing Benneteau is I feel more confident with him on the carpet surface than Bracciali.

5 * Johansson, Thomas v Tipsarevic, Janko - Johansson, Thomas to win @ $1.50

Johansson has a 1-0 head to head record against Janko with a win at Wimbledon back in 05. Janko retired in the first round of the Open with Heat Exhaustion however prior to that he had Grion compaints which forced him to retire in Adelaide against Lleyton Hewitt. Furthermore I have more confidence in Thomas on carpet as well his lost at the The Masters in Paris was a setback but prior to that he did make the final of St Petersburgh where he lost to Ancic.

ATP Vina del Mar - Round Robin

2 * Portas, Albert v Pashanski, Boris - Portas, Albert to win @ $2.00

I think these odds are a little bit off to be honest. Portas has a 2-0 record against Boris. With both wins coming off the clay surface. Basically I like the odds and I think that Portas has a good chance of winning here.

ATP - Zagreb - 1st Round

2 * Lopez, Feliciano v Koubek, Stefan - Koubek, Stefan to win @ $2.30

I like this play for a number of reasons. Firstly last year Koubek was awesome in Zagreb as he went on to the final only to lose to the home town hero Ljubicic. Lopez has struggled as of late as well with a 1st round lost in Sydney to Kevin Kim as well as an early but expected exit against Djokovic in the Australian Open. In the last 6 tournaments Lopez has played in he has been eliminated in the first round 3 times. Koubek in comparsion hasnt been too bad. His Australian Campaign wasnt the best with 1st Round exits in Sydney and Melbourne. Oddly enough both came against Australians Wayne Arthurs and Nathan Healey. Prior to those two loses in Australia he did make the Finals of Chennai where he lost to X Man - Malisse. He also played in a Challanger even the other week where he was knocked out in the Semis. The reason I do suspect the line to be where it is - is the Head to Head record is currently at 3-1 in Lopez's favor but Koubek is capable of playing quality tennis in familar grounds.

ATP Delray Beach - Round Robin

5 * Garcia-Lopez, Guillermo v Pless, Kristian - Garcia-Lopez, Guillermo to win @ $1.67

I'm confident in Garcia in this matchup for a few reasons. Although he hasnt been the best of late with a 2nd round exit at the Australian Open - I dont think its that bad - and here we have two players coming off different results in this Round Robin so far. Garcia won his match in convincing fashion where Pless had a surprise lost. This will be interesting to see how the Round Robin works here as if Garcia wins here he will progress to the elimination rounds and Pless is fighting to stay in it. Garcia-Lopez played really well at Delray Beach as he progressed to the Semi Finals to lose to the X-Man. But he showed some great form with a big win over Agassi in the Quarter Finals. Pless was here last year and he failed to get past the round of 16. His win in the first round came against Delgado. Who isnt as good as Garcia-Lopez is. Pless suffered a first round exit against David Ferrer . After which he entered a qualifer in which he failed to make an impact in only getting one win. It seems after his big upset against Nalbandian at the start of the year he has taken a massive step backwards. His low on confidence and I cant see it improving today.

ATP Vina del Mar - Round Robin

3 * Roitman, Sergio v Zabaleta, Mariano - Roitman, Sergio to win @ $1.88

Like the chances here - I believe Roitman should be the favourite here for good reason - his head to head record is 3-0 against Zabaleta with all those wins coming in the past year all on clay. Both are coming off wins in Round Robin play Roitman had to tough it out in a 3 setter Zalbaleta had an easy time with his opponent. Roitman prior to this tourney hadnt put up any good results this new year. Going out in the first round of the Australian Open. His last big win came against Zabaleta in a final which he won in 3 sets. I feel this is a good play based on the head to head statistics on the two.

ATP - Zagreb - 2nd Round

4 * Santoro, Fabrice v Gicquel, Marc - Gicquel, Marc to win @ $1.88

The odds are at a nice level here and for good reason. Santoro is coming off a rather good Australian Open where he made it to the 3rd Round of the Australian Open where he lost to Davydenko. Fabrice has never been great on Carpet his best result on Carpet was last year at Moscow where he made the Semis and lost to Davydenko. But the quality of his opponents he faced in that tournament arent as good as Gicquel. Gicquel got an excellent result against Verdasco in the last round. Also he has shown form in the past on Carpet notably in Lyon where he made it to the final and beat some big names on the way Hrbarty, Malisse and Grosjean to name a few. Gicquel's Australian Open campaign was cut short thanks to Roddick. The big telling point is these two players have faced off prior a match back in 05 which Gicquel was able to win, on Hard Court. I believe he will do the same today on the Carpet surface.

ATP Zagreb - Quarter Finals

5 * Youzhny, Mikhail v Gicquel, Marc - Youzhny, Mikhail to win @ $1.50

I've liked how Youzhny has played in the last month leading up to this event. Since returning from an injury back in October he has shown some good results. In Doha he got some good wins against Monfils and Bracciali and lost to Ljubicic in a 3 set match in a Tiebreaker. Down in Melbourne he also showed some decent form making it to the 3rd round where he was outplayed buy World No 1 Federer. but Prior to that match he had cruised through 2 opponents in straight sets. Entering this match he has played some exellent tennis compared to Gicquel who was lucky to escpae with a win against Santoro. I've become a bit of a Youzhny fan since the US Open where he beat Nadal in the Quarters. I have a lot of faith in him today to get past Gicquel.

ATP Vina del Mar - Quarter Finals

3 * Horna, Luis v Andreev, Igor - ANDREEV, Igor to win @ $2.10

Personally I would think that Igor would be the slight favourite here but that is not the case. I believe the reason why Horna comes into this match as the favourite is due to the simple fact is he has won his Round Robin matches easily. He has yet to drop a set. Igor is coming off the back of playing 4th seed Hidalgo 53rd in the word (who he beat) and a 3 setter against Hartfield (109th in the world) Hidalgo is a much better opponent than the two Horna faced by far and I believe Hartfield is slightly better in my opinion than the players he faced. Previous to this tournament Horna hadnt been playing great. He had lost in the first round in his last 6 tournaments straight. That includes the Australian Open and Auckland ATP this year and a few other tournaments from last year. Also most of those losses havent come against players I would say are top quality players. Igor on the other hand lost his first round matchup at the Australian Open to Vince Spadea - Who I believe is a rather decent player (as long as the crowd dosnt get to him like we did in his match against Hrbarty) He lost in Chennai against Bennetau in the 2nd round. and lost at the Paris Masters to Hrbarty who ended up being the runner up in that tournament. After he defeated Monfils. Just looking at the opponents his lost to in previous tournaments its easy to see he has been unlucky with the draws and ended up facing good opponents (although to be good you do need to beat those opponents)

ATP Delray Beach - Quarter Finals

3 * Spadea, Vince v Hass, Tommy - Hass, Tommy to win best out of 3 sets - 2-0 @ $1.70

Tommy Hass is comming off an excellent open where he was able to make it all the way to the Semis. Vince lost in the 2nd round of the Australian Open (a match I was lucky enought to watch). I believe Tommy comes here with basically the better weapons and the more firepower and the head to head stats show this - Tommy holds a 5-1 Record against Vincent with the last 5 matches all being wins for Hass. All of those games have been won 2-0 and I expect today will be the same.
