Vina del Mar is on clay, Zagreb on indoor carpet, and Delray Beach is on hard. Both Vina del Mar and Delray Beach are doing the stupid hybrid draw which I just completely hate. The lone WTA event this week will be in Tokyo on indoor carpet. Not too many lines up at this time, but I see one or two possible plays so far but I'm waiting on the rest.

Likhovetsva has not had a great start to the year, losing in the first round of each of her first three tournaments. She finally got her first win of the year against Dulko and looked very impressive in doing so. She faced no break points and won 89% of the points on her first serve!! For the match she won 80% on her serve. She was the beneficiary of 10 double faults by Dulko. She has faced Dementieva many times before (2-4 lifetime) and I fear Dementieva may have too much to do with her blog responsibilities for WTA this week. The line is up to +300 now but I will let my +270 ride. GLTA!!! Let's get a winner!:huddle:

I am tempted to make a small (maybe half unit) wager on Sugiyama. She is the last Japanese woman left in the draw. This is a tournament she knows very well, having played sixteen times. Unfortunately she has not fared very well as of late and I think her lifetime record here is just 18-15. She did play Sharapova back in 2004 at Wimbledon and was a few points away from taking the match. As of now, no play but I may change that later. The odds are pretty ridiculous at +600 but Sharapova rarely loses before the semis so.......

Hingis puts the icing on the cake for me as she mops the floor with Dementieva, 6-3 6-4.


Sticking with the strategy I formed at the beginning of the year, I'm going to stop when I reach 5 units each week between the men and women combined. It just so happens this week I went well over that with the big underdogs winning today. Nonetheless, this is the stopping point for the week.
