early looks I like Syracuse -4.5 @ St. John's, VT -5 at home vs. Maryland, and Manhattan -2 vs. Siena.

I play it for a day and it goes 1-4 and you come back and it goes 6-1, what gives here man!?!?!? :bang:
I like:
UNO +11.5 at W. Kent....UNO should be able to keep this one close with Bo McCaleb and WKU has fallen on hard times, 1-5 SU in their last 6.
Mizz State -5 at Evansville....E-Ville off a win against SIU and in a let down spot against a veteran Mizz State squad.

After a lame yesterday (if I ever play Kansas on the road again, I shall kick myself in the nuts). I am not sure I have any insight into Va Tech.It has been a weird year for that team, a team that has a lot of talent but unfortunately, that same talent seems to lack consistent desire.
They all said after the Florida State game that they had "come out flat" and in fact had had two horrible days in practice leading up to it. (One might expect one flat practice after two great wins over Duke and Carolina, but not two). Even as poorly as they have occasionally played on the road, they have usually lost by close margins...
Greenberg's voice the entire year has had an edge of exasperation to it, as he knows this is the year, with three very good, experienced seniors, that they have their best chance to not only get into the NCAAs but to advance. And yet that core of seniors is led by an enigma, Coleman Collins, and Greenberg has spent most of his time trying not to get too frustratated with him, given that the kid lost his Dad last year to lung cancer.
So you have the problem:best player (arguably Dowdell is, not Collins) being treated gently, with consideration, but causing great grief due to sporadic effort. Greenberg defends him on every radio show he does, but you can tell, he would have unleashed a lot on a guy without Collins' personal history. (Perhaps he should hold a practice like Roy Williams did after Carolina's loss in Blacksburg, one that no one will ever forget).
All that being said, they play well at home, very well indeed when kids are on campus. They are capable of beating anyone in the league, as they have proven. They are also capable of gross mental lapses, poor effort, and generally mystifying lapses of concentration. They are well aware that they blew a real opportunity to get another road win at Florida State.
I think they regroup and play well at home, and they will need to, as Maryland is increasingly desperate for a win after their debacle in Charlottesville.
I think the Hokies get it back together; I know that Greenberg will get them to play hard from tipoff on, and will have a quick hook if he sees lack of effort on anyone's part. There is no excuse, really, for not playing hard, no matter who you are.
One disturbing stat is the following:
" The Hokies have historically struggled against the Terrapins since the teams first met in 1926. Maryland leads the all-time series 25-5 and has won two of three matchups since Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004. The Hokies -- who are 9-0 at Cassell Coliseum this season -- are just 3-10 at home against the Terrapins."
Lastly, the problem esssentially is this:Va Tech shoots poorly at the line, and tends to let people hang around. I think this game is going to be close, real close, so the number is pretty much spot on, or so I think.I do not see Va Tech blowing a desperate and well coached team out of the building.

LaTech -2 1/2 wins 73-72 no cover
IdahoSt -4 1/2 loses outright 58-57
Troy -2 over ULL loses outright 69-62
TennSt -1 over EILL wins 61-58 and covers
Marist -5 over Canisius loses outright 84-74
UNCG -5 over Citadel wins 47-44 no cover
UtahSt -5 over SJSU wins 57-56 no cover
SALA -7 over DEN wins 70-64 no cover (borderline play)
that's 1-7 actuall, if you count SALA which was really a boderline play due to the line
nittany- its not something you can play one night. it is based on a whole season of plays in conference. like anything, some nights are going to go the other way. but in the long run if you played this religiously, you would come outway ahead. you have to either play it every night or not play it at all. and you keep omitting the sun belt which went 0-2 yesterday. not sure why because they are the biggest offender.

I am liking St Johns +5. What has Syracuse done to earn the right to be a road fave? Especially one this high?
VA Tech -5 is another one I feel is worth a look and that I may play....although there are things that do concern me about that play.
Actually, there are things that concern me about every play I make though....if there weren't and winners were always obvious and easy, we wouldn't be discussing this, lol

Just to add:
"Tonight's game takes on added importance for the Hokies because their next two games, and five of their next seven, are on the road. While it remains difficult to win at any ACC road venue, ACC home teams have lost 10 of 27 games this season.
The Terps have won only four of their past 18 ACC road games, two road triumphs in each of the past two seasons. That makes the current stretch, which includes four of five ACC games on the road, that much more daunting. Among the 12 ACC teams, only Miami also has such a stretch on its schedule this season."

I think St Johns might struggle to score in this one. They can't shoot at all. Not one player of consequence for the Johnnies shoots over 33% from deep, and the only one averaging more than 1 3ball per game is Avery Patterson, and that is because he chucks up 7+ a game.
Boeheim has been playing alot more man to man this year, but I think they zone up the Johnnies today and make them make perimeter shots.

Syracuse has been playing very well lately, home and away. Besides almost blowing the big lead to Cincy they went to Marquette and Rutgers and won in impressive fashion. They also beat a tough Nova team at home.
I like the Cuse in this one and may make a play on it...St Johns just got beat by a bad Uconn team on their own court. I think Syracuse is better than Uconn right now, no doubt about it...
