Last year finished nicely but the bottom line wasnt up to what I expected. I'm hoping with the mistakes learnt that I will be able to generate a profit.

I hope everyone has a good New Year.

Here are some of the early picks.

English Premiership
4 * Liverpool v Bolton - Liverpool to win @ $1.60

English Confrence
4 * Halifax Town v Altrincham - Halifax Town to win @ $1.65

Both of these teams have good record over their opponents. I'm also looking at a few other games for later.

In particular Crystal Palace (like them at home), Luton as well. Grimsby and Swansea as well.

Good Luck.

4 * Alloa v Stirling Albion - Stirling Albion to win @ $1.75

Stirling on an 8 Game Winning Streak and playing fantastic football let it continue today with another nice win against a side who isnt in good form at home.

Scottish Premier League

2 * Hibernian v Aberdeen - Hibernian to win @ $2.00

Loving the Hibs at home. Very strong team dont have much faith in Aberdeen.

20 * Arsenal v Charlton - Adebayor, Emmanuel (Arsenal) - Will Not Score @ $1.40

Firstly I dont know how the bookie is going to go with this one - I think it could quite possibly be refunded and disregarded which I would hate cause I think for this price this is a great play. As Adebayor is injured coming into the game today.

5 * Adelaide United v Queensland Roar - Adelaide United to win @ $1.65

Kicking myself for not getting this at $1.80 earlier in the week. Also Queensland are just not playing well to be honest they should be the worst team in the A-League. Adelaide well overdue for a nice streak of wins they'll kick start it off tonight with a nice win. Look out for Burns again.

3 * Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners - Newcastle Jets to win @ $2.20

Newcastle have never lost at home to Central Coast - both teams are coming off two losses CC lost at home to Sydney and Newcastle to Melbourne. Central Coast have been struggling as of late having lost their last two games both at home to Melbourne and Queensland. I cant see the Mariners doing any damage if any to the Jets. Also this is an important game for both teams as they both seek the final four spot and after that Adelaide loss yesterday I think the added motivation that they could finish up in 3rd is there. I dont think Newcastle are going to let down another 25 thousand Novocastrians for the 2nd week in a row.

what do u think aboutthe over in this game?
an early goal could open it up as both teams cant afford a draw here
both 2 points outside the top 4 , both need a win
so both have to go for broke i guess!

im gonna play it

good luck BTG

Sorry about losing that over play Naroz - To be honest it was a line call after that 4-1 result - but the pitch isnt in the best of condition so I would've doubted the chances of a 3 goal game.

Anyway Newcastle won 1-0 WIN!

5 * Bristol Rovers v Hereford - Total Goals Under 2.5 @ $1.64

Basically we have two division 2 sides here who dont give away many goals. These two teams wont score many goals on each other could be a 2-0, 1-0 or 1-1 result I expect. Its too hard to tip a winner IMHO. Espically with it being FA-Cup risky Business.

Its FA-Cup day today and I have a few picks for todays games. Like I said yesterday FA Cup is always risky business. So hopefully some of these games will be nice winners.

English FA Cup

4 * Leicester v Fulham - Total Goal Score - Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.70

I cant see these two sides putting up a score any greater than a 1-1 draw nor can i really say a 2-0 score line is possible as well If I had to say anything I would say a 0-1 Fulham win. But I don't want to put any money on it.

3 * Portsmouth v Wigan - Portsmouth to win @ $1.70

Pompey at home hard to go past them without laying some money on them and Wigan are just plain awful at the moment cant see them getting a score on the board. As far as Over - Under goes I'll be leaning towards the under but I wouldn't dare think about putting much on it.

10 * Reading v Burnley - Reading to win @ $1.45

Reading gave a drumming to West Ham 6-0 last week confidence is high and they are a young team they wont slip up to this Burnley side who I think they can really smash again.

1 * Birmingham v Newcastle United - DRAW @ $3.20

I fill like playing this I think the score would be 1-1 or 0-0. I just dont think Birmingham will slip up so easily and I think Newcastle would be more than happy to play for a draw and win it in the replay.

Good Luck.

3 * Sheffield Wednesday v Manchester City - Manchester City to win @ $2.20

Firstly trying to look for a play today is a bit tricky, but after doing a bit more research here I believe this one is the best one to play for today. First of all Wednesday have not got past the third round since 2000-01. Manchester City on the other hand reached the quarter finals last year before being knocked out by West Ham who went on to the final. Furthermore Manchester City have hit a bit of form coming into this game with some good wins against United and West Ham away from home and as well beating Everton at home. Also Wednesday who havent been in bad form as of late but I dont think it will be enough to out play this rather strong Manchester City side.

BeyondTheGame
01-08-2007, 03:38 AM
Manchester City drew 1-1.

To be honest that was the best result City could have hoped for after playing that game they didn't deserve to win it with the way they played. Wednesday really shocked me.

English League Two

3 * MK Dons v Lincoln City - MK Dons to win @ $2.00

I think these odds are just about right for this game. Both teams are coming off losses MK Dons lost 0-4 to Swindon and Lincoln lost 2-1 away to Macclesfield. MK Dons however have been good at home this season. Before losing to Swindon however MK had a 4 game winning streak at home. Contrast this with Lincoln's away form which hasn't been too good as they have lost 3 of their past 4 games away from home. Furthermore last time these two teams played it was the Dons who won however that was earlier in the season and Lincoln were at home. I just cant see Lincoln producing anything that would have me think they are a chance of snatching this game from MK.

English Johnstone's Paint Trophy

2 * Bristol City v Brighton - Bristol City to win @ $1.65

Brighton does have a good record against Bristol City but - with the streak they are on at the moment I cant see them doing any damage to this Bristol side.

3 * Doncaster v Darlington - Doncaster to win @ $1.60

Doncaster are in fab form at home Darlington not so good away from home. Cant see Doncaster losing this one.

I usually dont play Spainish Leagues much but I do know my fair share of knowledge on them and I do like the chances here with some of the matches.

Spanish Cup

5 * Valladolid v Villarreal - Handicap with Draw - Valladolid to win +1.0 @ $1.53

I think this could be a really good chance to draw some money today Valladolid havent loss at home in the Segunda since October and are currently in first place on the Segunda. They hold a strong advantage when they play at home and always have. Villareal has been struggling to find form as of late espically away form their last 4 games have resulted in 3 losses and 1 draw. Another thing that I find that makes me want to play this game so much is the fact of the head to head record when Valladolid is @ home against Villareal 4W-1D-0L - I'm just going to use the +1 to cover my ass here.

3 * Alaves v Barcelona - Total Goal Score - Under 2.5 @ $1.85

I really think these two teams are real under teams and this can be shown by their recent results. Also when Alaves hosts Barca at home since 2001 the total goal score has always been under 2.5 - and 4 games have occured in that period of time. I like my chances with this play.

French Championnats Ligue 2

5 * Metz v Reims - Metz to win @ $1.50

Been early in the season I dont want to play big money just yet to be honest otherwise I would've put 10 units on this game at least. First of all Metz are undefeated at home this season I believe the record at home is W9-0D-0L. Contrast this with Reims who are 1W-3D-5L away from home. I think those two results there show more than anything here. Metz to win easily - If i had to say anything else about this game I would say Under for sure.

English Championship

5 * West Bromwich Albion v Luton Town - West Bromwich Albion to win @ $1.55

I will admit i was on the Luton bandwagon last week after the match against Birmingham but now I'm off and going for West Brom. Who preform best at home. Luton hasnt been in the best of form putting the Birmingham game aside they havent done much for a few weeks. West Brom is one of those teams you love to bet on when they are at home. Also West Brom are on a 5 game win streak at home. With wins against the quality sides in the championship - Preston, Derby and all the rest been teams who are on a higher position on the table than Luton. Look for West Brom to continue their charge into the top few spots of the championship.

Best of Luck Everyone - Hope Today is a good day.

Oh and By The Way - For those in America with Beckham joining LA Galaxy will you pay more attention to the MLS than in years past?

benrik

I'll be paying more attention but I would have anyways because of the new team in Toronto. I usually hate Toronto teams (except the Blue Jays) but Toronto FC seems to represent the entire country. Also, they've got several Canadian internationals there now. So, with Beckham too, and maybe Davids soon i hear, I will pay a lot more attention.

English Championship

4 * Colchester v Leicester - Colchester to win @ $1.75

First of all Colchester are the best home team going around in the Championship with a home win streak of 11 GAMES!! Leicester are pretty decent away but i cant see them doing anything against this Colchester side.

Scottish League Two

4 * Stirling Albion v Raith - Stirling Albion to win @ $1.60

Stirling Albion are like Colchester at the moment they are on a 7 game home winning streak. Raith arent that dominate away from home so I cant see them getting much from this game. For an Over/Under tip I would say Over just due to Stirling's form at home they average around 3 goals a game at home and Raith average 1 goal a game. Seems like an easy call here.

Italian Serie A

5 * Torino v Inter Milan - Inter Milan to win @ $1.60

I usually don't bother about Inter games but at this price I think it is worth it statistically wise Torino has never got the win against Inter and has lost 4 out of 4 at home against Inter. But remember the last time these two teams played was back in 2003. Furthermore Inter have won 11 games on the trot. And Torino seem to struggling against the better teams ie. Roma and Palermo.

The Tips for todays games...

English Premiership

2 * Everton v Reading - Everton to win @ $2.00

Big reason I like this match is the Australian Tim Cahill is back in action tonight and that is a big plus for this Everton side. Who has been struggling since he was out with injury. Furthermore i would look for Everton to find their form again like they did against Newcastle and get a nice home win. Also Reading havent been too good away from home this season. I'm thinking of putting some little money on Cahill to score tonight as well. But not too sure.

Italian Serie A

5 * Messina v AS Roma - AS Roma to win @ $1.53

Messina's last 4 home games have resulted in 2 draws and 2 wins. Roma's last 4 away games have resulted in 3 wins and 1 loss the loss at the hands of Lazio in a rather suprising defeat. Messina have struggled this season and their position on the table shows that clearly with them standing at 17th compare this with Roma who sit on 2nd. Over/Under - I would say another Over game but I wouldn't be putting anything on that.

4 * Palermo v Udinese - Palermo to win @ $1.77

Palermo playing very well at home this season the last 4 home games have resulted in 3 wins with the other being a loss against the top team Inter Milan. Udinese last 4 away games have ended up with 3 losses and 1 win the win coming against a rather weak Atalanta side. I like the look of the over as well for those who want to take a more of a risk at better odds.

Good Luck Everyone.

English League Two

5 * Walsall v Grimsby - Walsall to win @ $1.53

This game will hopefully show how good Walsall are this season. Compared to how bad Grimsby are this season. Grimsby out of 4 attempts @ Walsall have never come away with the 3 points only one time they came away with 1 point. Grimsby is on a 4 game losing streak. I dont think Walsall will let a game like this slip by without earning the crucial points needed for promotion. Walsall are 10W-2D-1L at home this season with the draw and the loses coming to teams who are much higher on the table than Grimsby.

3 * Luton v Queens Park Rangers - Luton to win @ $2.10

QPR are in terrible form away from home this season. Today will showcase just how bad they are. Luton have shown signs of form at home with 2 big wins in championship against Coventry and Preston. Also draws with Southend and Cardiff round out their last 4 at home. QPR are on a 5 game losing streak away from home at Championship level. Also Luton are coming off a 3-2 loss at West Brom where they pretty much had the game till the late stages. I think they will take out some confidence out of that game rather than the otherside around and look to convert on the opportunities presented in todays matchup against a team who is near them in the table and progress into the next round of the Cup.

Germany Division Two

3 * Essen v Kaiserslautern - Kaiserslautern to win @ $2.10

Football is back in Germany after the long break over Christmas and new year. These two teams finished last year on different levels Essen finished 17th and Kaiser 4th. Essen had its struggles at home with them only winning 1 of their last 5 at home and losing the other 4. Kaiserslautern havent been too bad away from home with a record of 2W-2D-0L in their last 4 away matches. However many of the draws have come against opposition that I would rate higher than Essen. Essen has struggled against teams placed in the top half of the league and it will most likely to continue today unless something sparked Essen over the break. Also Essen have never defeated Kaiserslautern

Dutch Eredivisie

5 * Den Haag v AZ Alkmaar - AZ Alkmaar to win @ $1.45

Resonable odds for a team I believe will win. Den Hagg havent been too good at home. AZ are a top Eredivisie team and will look to kick start the year in better fashion than they left last year. I cant see AZ dropping this one.

5 * Luton v Barnsley - Luton to win @ $2.00

There is value in this game and for $2.00 its a great price after doing a bit of shopping I have found the price to be around an average $1.90. Barnsley are the worst away team in the league. Luton like i said before are a team working well together and it is shown by their previous results Big Draws against top teams Cardiff and Birmingham and a Win against Preston back in December. Barnsleys last away result was back in December a draw against a rather bad opponent in Leeds. if you keep looking back you'll find the next results came at the start of the season. Luton are an inform team and they will win here today.

10 * Portsmouth v Charlton Athletic - Portsmouth to win @ $1.55

I was going to play this for 5 units but I thought why not go for a big play. First of all why Portsmouth? - Portsmouth have been terrific at home this season With a record at home of 7W-3D-1L. The Draws and losses have come to teams who are far better quality rise compared to Charlton. Furthermore Charlton have the worst away record of any team this season with 0W-1D-10L. They have 6 Losses in a row at the moment. Charlton are also coming off a 1-3 drumming at home against Boro (a win they needed) - Also one thing that is great against Pompey is they win the games they are expected to win. Furthermore Pompey is just too strong all around the pitch.

Plymouth have been quite strong at home as of late with their last 4 home games resulting in 2 draws and 2 wins and the draws came against sides that are in the top 6 of the table. Coventry isnt one of those sides. Coventry have had struggles away from home this season with the 1 draw and 3 losses in their last 4 away games. Furthermore they have never got away with the win against Plymouth @ Plymouth. The Closest they came was back in 05. Adding onto this Plymouth will be boosted by the availability of loan signings Scott Sinclair, Rory Fallon, Peter Halmosi and Kevin Gallen. Also Timar who plays in defense could be back from a throat infection. Also Coventry continue to have injury woes with Elliott Ward (hamstring), David McNamee (virus), Colin Cameron and Don Hutchison (broken ankle) and Andy Marshall (knee).

3 * Watford v Blackburn Rovers - Blackburn to win @ $2.20

Blackburn were in good form over the weekend against Man City in a 3-0 win at home. Watford continued their struggles with a 0-2 lose away against Aston Villa. In comparing these two teams they are quite different sides Watford have been weak at home in the previous 4 games at home with 3 losses and 1 draw. Blackburn have been one of the best away sides in the league with 3 wins and 1 lose the lose coming against Arsenal. The only reason stopping me from playing a lot on this game is the big injury to the Blackburn backline with Andre Ooijer out for the season after the broken leg against Man City. Emerton will step in to replace him which IMHO is a pretty good fill in to have. Furthermore for Watford Defenders James Chambers (ankle) and Clarke Carlisle (thigh) are out along with striker Marlon King (knee). And Blackburn are pretty much healthy heading into this game with Derbyshire and Gallagher both playing well looking to push for places in the starting lineup.

Best of Luck looking to add one more play later on today.

4 * Willem II v Graafschap - Total Goal Score - Over 2.5 @ $1.60

I really wanted to put my money on the head to head here but it is too hard as Graafschap is on top of the Division 2 and playing really well whereas Willem has been struggling in Eredivisie. After look at previous matche between the two sides however there seems to be alot of times where the goal score has gone over the 2.5 mark. The only time it hasnt gone over 2.5 goals when Willem are at home is back in 1999. And since then these 2 teams have played 5 games there. Also both teams recently in their respective divisions have been scoring a fair amount of goals or in Willem's case giving up a lot of goals.

Best of Luck.

French Championnats Ligue 1

5 * Sochaux v Sedan - Sochaux to win @ $1.72

I believe this is a good chance for Sochaux to win here. Sedan has never been able to beat Sochaux and nor have they ever got any point when playing at Sochaux. Furthermore Sedan have been struggling away from home lately with their last 4 away games resulting in 3 losses and 1 draw. The draw was against 19th placed Nice Sochaux sit on 4th on the table, Sedan 20th. Sochaux have preformed well at home lately with their last 4 games at home resulting in 3 wins and 1 draw. The draw came against 5th placed Lille. I cant see Sedan causing an upset today.

3 * Marseille v Auxerre - Marseille to win @ $1.73

Marseille are one of my favourite teams in the Championnats. Marseille have been strong as of late at home with 3 wins and 1 loss in their last 4 at home. The loss came against Lorient a but that was back when they were full of injuries and in a bit of a struggle since then they have found their feet and been able to put some wins on the board. Auxerre sit on 11th place on the table. last 4 away games however have resulted in 3 draws and 1 loss. One could question the strength of the competition they faced. In the end I think Marseille look good in this matchup. I'm only betting 3 units due to the draw tendency of Auxerre.

Well considering you reminded me about Football - I'll have a dig at a few games today.

.Tuesday 30th of January 2007
English Championship

4 * Hull v Leeds - Hull to win @ $1.95

Hull is pretty strong at home at the moment. And have been getting some decent victories there. Leeds on the other hand continues to struggle. As shown by their lost to West Brom over the weekend. After seeing all the transactions that took place over the period i thought they might win a few games but didnt seem to benefit them as of yet. Still dont think they will beat this Hull team. Also Leeds have never beaten Hull at Hull. The record stands at 1-0-0 when playing at Hull.

5 * Derby v Burnley - Derby to win @ $1.70

I heard a little birdy telling me just before you could get this game at a better price at betfair $1.80 like odds. Derby are the hottest team in the Championship. They have won 4 games straight the biggest one against Preston @ Preston. Burnley is struggling as they have yet to get the 3 points since November!! I would actually be willing to risk 10 on this but dont wont to shoot myself in the foot.

English Premiership

4 * Portsmouth v Middlesbrough - Portsmouth to win @ $1.90

Portsmouth didnt play too badly on the weekend in the FA Cup against a stronger Man Utd side. I think Portsmouth will be looking to get their first home win of the year and their first win of the year against Middlesbrough who have won 3 games straight. But have never been able to beat Portsmouth even when at home. At Pompey Portsmouth hold a clear advantage of 3W-1D-0L. Like the chances, But you never know in this game

I'm just mortified with this Record and this is my attempt to get it out of the -30 and into the -20's.

English Premiership

10 * Liverpool v Everton - Liverpool to win @ $1.50

Liverpool hitting good form now 2 points behind Chelsea and really playing some great football. Everton have been up and down this season and injuries to key players will hurt them today. Also Liverpool will be seeking some sort of redemption. after the last match these two played in which they lost. As they look to retake the title that they are the strongest side in Merceyside.

If this looks good at half time I'll play 2 more games. 1 Premiership and 1 Championship.

International Friendlies

5 * Australia v Denmark - Total Goal Score - Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.69

Australia have a fair few key players out today - Viduka, Neill & a few others here and there. However I dont want to lose money betting against my home team. However I feel confident that both teams cant put on the goals today. This is mainly due to it been a friendly and looking in the past the best way to bet on Friendly's are draws or the under. Should be a good game to watch looking forward to watching it in the morning.

Good Luck to Everyone

Just for everyones infomation other things I was considering but didnt pull the trigger.

Brazil v Portugal - Over 2.5
Nth Ireland v Wales - Wales to win (If you can get Wales with the +1 Handicap take it!)
Nigeria v Ghana - Ghana to win (Yet again try to get the Handicaps here if you can +1 or Draw No Bet)

Got a good feeling on this one - Thought I might go all out on this one and just hope for the best.

This is a gut feeling play I think Turkey can score a heap of goals and hopefully they do.

Was thinking I should get back into this and start betting on Football during the midweek once again considering Portsmouth was really my boggy team.

Italian Serie A

10 * Empoli v Messina - Empoli to win @ $1.68

I like this game for the fact that Empoli has won 4 home games in a row! Even one against AS Roma They have been playing very well - my only concern is the goals where are they going to come from. They dont score much (Like most Italian Teams) Messina on the other hand have lost their last 6 in a row away from home. They allow about 2 Goals per a game. Empoli is an excellent team at home and today they'll show it.

Dutch Cup

10 * NAC Breda v PSV Eindhoven - Total Goal Score Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.75

Firstly love the odds here so I'll take them. The past 5 times these two teams have met the goal score has gone over 2.5. PSV has struggled away lately but cup games are different I'll doubt that they'll struggle today I think they'll score a few goals here. I'm not sure who will win here, but NAC have been awesome at home lately and scoring a lot of goals which is good - after all it is in Holland.

French Championnats Ligue 2

10 * Amiens v Istres - Amiens to win @ $1.55

Ameins have been pretty good this season in their last 4 home games they have been able to come away with 3 wins and 1 draw. The wins have come against better opposition to what they face today. Istres on the other hand hasnt been able to get a win they have returned with 3 losses and 1 draw in their last 4. Most of the losses have come to teams who I consider not as good as Amiens. Last time these two teams played each other Ameins travelled to Istres and came away with a 3-1 away win. The last time these two have played at Ameins it was a 2-1 Victory to Ameins. These two teams are coming off slightly different weekends. Istres grabbed a home win against the weak Tours side. Ameins drew away from home against Libourne. I think the Quality of opposition Istres will face today will most likely shock them and lead to a Ameins win.
