The Big 12 Report

By Tony George www.sportsaudioshows.com

Another week has passed and another MONSTER upset in the Big 12 last week as Kansas State downed Texas in Manhattan in a shocker. It was also a week that saw many teams of stature go down, but Texas blew any chance of winning back to back titles, and set up Nebraska for a repeat in Kansas City in the Big 12 Championship with some hope in December. Iowa State proved just how bad they were again, while exiting coach Dan McCarney pains continue, getting pounded by Colorado. Lets break down this weeks action in the Big 12 with a few games of interest:

Oklahoma -20.5 @ Baylor - Soft spot for Oklahoma here, but they have an outside chance of playing Nebraska in the Big 12 title game if Texas falls to Texas AM next week. I doubt Bob Stoops lets his guard down in this one. Baylor was lit up for over 60 points week, and since the injury and departure of all world QB Shawn Bell for the Bears, it has been all downhill. OU can name the score here, and with a title shot on the line perhaps, the Sooners will bring their "A" game to this one in Waco. Baylor has allowed 50 ppg the last 3 games! OU 45 Baylor 10

Iowa State vs. Missouri -13.5- MY BIG 12 GAME OF THE WEEK

Oklahoma St. @ Texas Tech -6 - Interesting match-up here and it should be a scorefest in Lubbock. Two great QB's, 2 offenses that light up the scoreboard and 2 defense's that are like a funnel. The total is approaching 70 points in this one, but I sat take a look at the under. Both teams will try to keep the ball and I think you may see a more controlled game as both have a chance here to win it, but OSU is a different animal on the road. A small lean towards the under. I think a 28-34 ballgame.

Kansas St vs. Kansas -2 - What a letdown spot for Kansas St, but then again Kansas and Kansas St provides enough attention in the state of Kansas that the Wildcats simply will not let last week's win cloud the issue. Kansas is playing for a bowl berth here, and KSU already has one without question. All that being said, Kansas is twice the football team at home they are on the road, and have the best RB in the Big 12 in Cornish, who lit Nebraska up for 165 yards on the road. I think KU uses him to their advantage and wear down the Wildcats at home and win by 6 points in a close, high scoring game. A lean towards the home team here. Kansas State is 9-1 ATS the past 10 years in this game, trends often reverse and I think it happens this Saturday.

Nebraska has a week off to prepare for Colorado on Friday of next week, and look for the Huskers to be ready to prove a point before taking on the South Champion. A big win for Nebraska in dramatic fashion at Texas AM last week, and QB Taylor for NU continues to impress. I can assure you of plenty of scoring in the Big 12 games this week, look at those totals closely, and pick up my Big 12 weekly feature at our website, I have some key angles in the Iowa State / Missou game that will make you a few bucks on Saturday. Until next week, good luck on your wagers.
