Yea, I usually don't do writeups when I bet on games. I usually just fade the public, especially on Thursdays, but today I have a really good feeling about the game.

You guys all saw the Louisville/WVA game. No defense at all in that game. It was a 1-3 pt lead the entire way until Slayton got hurt, and it was over right there. Slayton had 180 yards rushing before the third quarter was even over. Once WVA lost Slayton, they lost their run game, and left their not so great QB by himself to try and carry the team. Didn't work out too well.

Rutgers has their own Heisman candidate in Raymell Rice that averages 5.4 yds per carry. Rutgers is very similar to WVA in the fact that they don't have a great QB, but they have a very good running back.

What I think this game comes down to is the defense (defense wins ball games). Rutgers has the #2 overall defense in the league.

They played Pitt a couple of weeks back who had the #1 offense in the league at Pitt. How many points did they score?

10......

I'll take Rutgers plus the touchdown as I believe this will come down to a 1 posession game. Also lookin at the under. But Rutgers is the play for the night.

P.S. Not forgetting Rutgers has got the home field advantage here?

Pittsburgh O is overrated...and they gave up 13 to uconn at home last week in what endedup being only an 11pt win....UL is the class of the big east and they will show it tonight...see them controlling the game and getting out ahead of Rutgers tonight...i also like the under alot as i dont see these teams putting up too many points on each other...

UL 27
Rutgers 17

my plays

UL -6.5 (full game) 1unit to win 1
UL pl under 57(6pt teaser) 1unit to win 1
UL -4(1st half) risking .5 units to win .5

You seem very confident in a game thats not being played on Wednesday night. In fact, Id bet you a billion dollars Louisville doesn't beat Rutgers tonight, they play tomorrow night buddy. A day ahead of yourself.

GL this week/weekend recovering77, but I have to respectfully disagree with you on a couple things you brought up. Rutgers and West Virginia are definitely not at all similar "in the fact that they don't have a great QB, but they have a very good running back." Pat White is a second RB in the backfield and the second fastest guy on the field to Slaton, while Mike Teel is a statue with no threat of the running. WVU runs the spread option where White makes a read and the defense has to worry about BOTH the QB and the RB, both amazingly explosive players who can take it the distance any time they touch the ball. Rutgers pounds the ball up the middle with Ray Rice and utilizes his talents effectively, but the defense doesn't have to account for Teel whatsoever. HUGE difference IMHO. I don't see the comparison.

Also, Pitt's offense stinks. They just got shut down by South Florida aswell. At the time, the stats were misleading because of the competition they had played.

Last thing, RU at home is suddenly a home field advantage? How so? I understand they will have 50,000 red-clad fellow New Jerseyians on hand, but RU at home is no sure thing and never has been. They lost two games by DD's at home last season (West Virginia and South Florida), and weren't exactly impressive against UConn a couple weeks back when no-name RB Donald Brown racked up 199 yards and 2 TD's on the ground against them.

Im sorry. I couldnt agree with Cuse more. He was dead on. Having two burners in the back field like White and Slayton is a completely different story. Now they have all their attention focused on Rice, I dont think he will be able to do much. I believe he only had 78 yards rushing against Uconn. IMO if it wasnt for a blocked punt, and a few Uconn turn overs, they woulda stole that game. UL is not nearly getting the respect they deserve. I look for em to roll by 14 in this game.

I think Ray Rice will get his 100+ yards because he's a good back, but I just don't see the comparison recovering77 was making.

people who cant get tickets,
there is gonna be 100's of people & friends outside the stadium rooting them on... its a big thing in N.J. they have alot of support & that may push this team to a win..

unless your boy are wearing zebra outfits, i dont see how "your friends" make it more of a rutgers play. When judging this it comes down the the most important entity, QB. Brohm proved he could outplay Pat white last week, and now Teel has terrible passing numbers. So what if rice gets 100 on the ground?? WVU got over 300 yds last week and still lost by double digits. Not even the sopranos can stop Louisville's national championship aspirations.

the ville -6

ville sos 42
rutgers sos 101

i think the best team rutgers has played all year is pitt, and pitt is not in the villes class. emotion will keep them around for a while, but rutgers def will have to do one hell of a job to keep it within 1 strike.

LOUISVILLE -6

Let's not forget that last year Louisville handed Rugters a spanking winning 56 -5 (without Mike Bush like this year)with basically the same teams as this year. Given Ray Rice is alot better, he will get his 100 yards but with Brohm having a solid game last week he is continuing to get his confindence back each game coming back form that thumb injury. Rugerts D in the long haul willl not be able to keep with the air attack of Brohm and the Cards.
Louisville 31-17

I know Rutgers has been challenged this year but has Louisville?

I think it took em a while to put away one team, but the score wasn't even close by the end.

I think most people's points are that there is not a team on the Rutgers schedule that should have challenged them if they are really that legit. USF is the best team they've played this season and they skated out of there because of a missed two point conversion. I know conference games should never be easy and no team is perfect every week, but they didn't look good against USF or UConn - and UConn was at home.

UL played a sort of tight road game against Syracuse (but not really since Cuse scored late) and Cincy played them tough at Papa John a couple weeks back too so they aren't bulletproof either.

Should be fun tonite, GL!!!

Good call! Some people see to forget that Rugers not only has one good back. They also have the 5th year senior Leonard. Who once carried this team before Rice was in the picture. Granted he doesnt get the carries he once used to but he is a great compliment to Rice ,the kid is a physical freak. ANd the pass he caught on the game winning drive was key, followed by a great run by Rice to set up the feild goal. Great win for the scarlet knights i would love to see them run the table and at least get a BCS bowl game. im not gonna bullshit myself if they win outright they still arent on the level to be in a National champioship game but they really deserve a BCS bowl game, they deserve it, NJ deserves it.
