Has anyone ever wondered... what would UCapper be like without moderators banning everyone left and right? What if it were like Yahoo, where everyone can post whatever they want without "interference" from those bastard mods?
Well, here is the thing. I typically do a little stock and option trading in the 4th quarter of years where the economy is good (you have even seen some of my "stock plays" on the little used stock forum on this board). I recently bought a GOOG 500 December call (if you ever want to know what one of those are, let me know, I would be happy to educate). Doing so, of course, brought me to the Yahoo stock message boards.
Good f-ing gawd. Visit one some day. Heck, heres a link (http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Technology/Computer_Services/forumview?bn=25263) . What do you see there? Tons of posts from people who claim to have short positions in a stock, after the stock has gone down 15 points in a day. Similar cases where people claim to have positions in a stock for months, just when it has hit it's all time high. It is the stupidest thing in the world. You can't trust any of the information there, because it is nothing but a bunch of bashers and counter-bashers mouthing off trying to get people to panic.
After spending the week there, coming to UC is like coming back to the gated community after spending the week in the worst part of the ghetto. And the reason that is - frankly - is because we have moderators here who tolerate no BS. Even if they occasionally make a controversial decision, in the long run, it creates a community of people who... usually...:
a.) put in their plays BEFORE the game
b.) write in a respectful tone
c.) use reason when making an argument
It isn't always perfect, but if you have spent any time in forums from other places, it becomes obvious why ucapper is so successful.
Thank you, moderators, for making this a great site. Keep up the good work!
