Getting this pick in early, as I have been waiting for the line to come out between Vancouver and Chicago.... I was guessing it would be around -200, but to my delight it opened at -155. Love it. I was assuming I might have to go with the -0.5 goals line.
Canucks -155 vs Blackhawks 4 units
Big play here. Biggest of the year (tied....lol, 1/2). Not sure why we are getting such value, but Chicago is reeling. They have lost their two best forwards and leading scorers (Handzus and Havlat) and starting goalie in Khabibulin. Losing H+H is a big hit to this team, as the Hawks were winning games by scoring lots of goals (2nd in league in goals), but without these guys, especcially Havlat, that should be a lot tougher. Also, anytime you lose your starting goalie, you are in trouble, but especcially for the Hawks as their backup is atrocious in Brian Boucher. He is 0-2 this year with a terrible .864 SP and a 4.58 GAA. He wasn't much better last year as a backup in Phoenix/Calgary with a .871 SP and a 4.15 GAA. This guy is bad.
With Luongo in net for Van (talk about mis-match!), and the Sedins flying around the ice....I see a big win for Vancouver Wednesday. This is also an OT incl play, because if Chicago is able to hang around for some reason, Van should have a big advantage in a shootout.
I see this line moving, so I got it Tuesday night. Probably more to come tomorrow.....GL

Yeah....a 4 unit play is my biggest play of the year. I usually try and make all 1 unit, but sometimes I get excited. That's the most I will play if I really like the play though, hence "biggest". $200 bucks. Hopefull this one wins!
Thanks 1/2...I edited my post to be clear....lol

Yeah Good luck JML!!!! This one defintely looks like a no brainer. But this canuck team if they get some more finish to their chances, they can go great damage. They seem to get plenty of them but can't put them away. This is not a trap team and defintely not a boring team to watch. In fact to the contrary, some people compared them to calgary, their far from it.
what makes this play even stronger is that Chicago is missing key components to their club. A big mismatch in goal, Luongo vs Boucher. If canucks get any goals this is canucks game. Thus far I love their effort and determination that their playing with. If they keep this effort up in this game and don't take Chicago lightly, they should win with relative ease.

I don't know if you bet 5dimes, but the line is -160 there now. I think the value may be coming from the fact that this is vancouver's 4th road game in 6 days. Personally, I think that people generally think players get very tired from playing so often, but this is the NHL, they know how to recuperate quickly.
I threw a 1.6 unit bet on this. Thanks for the early heads-up about the expected line movement.

this just has the its too good to be true look to it. Like many games van had with the loo last year. Expected to cakewalk thru the game and walk out with an easy 2 points and instead the team would leave the rink with its tail between its legs. I'll be on the play but im just keeping it a regular bet not going heavy cause my nuckers have loved seeing me lose money on them in the past.

Vancouver's games have been boring as hell. They're definitely a trap team. Had it not been for a few comebacks in the last minute, their average goals per game would be lower as would their win total. When you have Luongo in goal and only one line that can score, you have no choice but to play defensively.

I am a die hard canuck team and I watch everygame they play. Sure they are more defensive team this year than last year but they are not a trap team. They put pressure on the puck and are persistent checking team. I don't knonw but some people when they see a defensive game they assume it is a trap. A trap is you have one checker in pursuit of the puck and the rest clogging the center ice and blue line. Minnesota in the past years was a real trapping team and they average almost 18-20 shots a game. Look at vancouvers last 4 -5 games they have probably over 30 shots a game. I watch enough games and study the game that I know what is a trap. And believe me once they have that system down and are real comfortable. You are going to see them even attack more, right now they are attacking but now with real buzz and purpose.

I agree with Ang....Canucks are Boring with a capital B. I saw them play Minnesota, and it was a roll reversal, Minny playing wide open, and Vancouver playing the trap...you'd figure with Luongo They'd have the confidence to open it up.
Thanks guys....and flmm...I just have to cap games as I see 'em, I can't get into the "too good to be true" or "trap" scenerios.....that will drive you batty.

Sharks -101 vs Red Wings 1 unit
See some value here backing one of the top 5 teams in the league against a Red Wing team that is living on past glory. This line seems a little low, and I think the books are giving the Wings too much credit. It's the players inside those red jerseys. not the jerseys themselves. Detroit has lost three in a row, and 4 of 5, and it doesn't get any easier against the high-powered Sharks with maybe the best 1-2 punch in their top two lines. Hasek has looked old, and the Wings top players have not produced in Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Sharks have two #1 goalies playing unbelievable, and have the best offence this side of Buffalo. WAY too much value here, even for a road team.

not to take over your thread with canucks chatter jml but I agree with Nader, the canucks are definately more defensive but one can't say its the trap just because its a defensivly responsible mindset. You also cannot base the canucks off their one game in minny. Vignault said after the game that with minny the plan was to tighten it up, it was the 4th and last game of a season opening roadie against a minny team that was lighting it up, there arent many teams in that position that would wanna go end to end with the rested home team. They aren't giving up 4 goals a game and needing 5 to win so with the lack of scoring I could see why the games seem a little more dull to the average hockey fan but as a canuck fan to see them pay attention to defense, finish their checks ( could stand to see this more ) and hold on to leads and stay in games long enough to comeback in them is far more entertaining. They're 2nd in the league in shots on goal as well, they dont wait for turnovers like a trap team, they push forward and take their chances just not finding a lot of finish.

Cools guys....no worries....I've only seen 2 Canucks games this year, so I'm no expert on their play.....just formed my opinion from those 2 boring games I saw.
Hope they come out flying tonight though! LOL. :yeah:

Thanks guys!
Adding...
Sharks +105 vs Wings
Line moved to a + line so I had to add another unit. This is nuts. San Jose is a better team. Best 1/2 centreman in the league. Maybe the best 1/2 punch in goal. Red Wings PP is brutal, and they have scored 3 goals in their past three games. Datsuk and Zetterberg have 3 goals between them this year. Shannahan has 8 himself with NY. I'll take this sick value for another unit. 5-2 Sharks.

Detroit still only scores 2 goals but squeaks out the win. Good job by the Wings staying out of the box against the league's #1 rated PP in SJ. nice hard fought home win for the Wings. Props.
4-0 Vancouver late in the 2nd period. Boucher has let in a couple softies :yeah:

You put some green in my pocket! This week is looking good. I've tailed you on two picks (only NHL bets I've made this week) and both were easy winners (Ottawa was the other one Tuesday night). I don't play the pucks much - only when folks feel strongly about something and ONLY one play a night at most.
Thanks again for the nice winners!
