Bears - Niners line (http://www.wagertracker.com/oddshistory.aspx?sport=NFL&gameid=56308) (-16)
Does anyone think this might be a tad excessive? I mean, I am as big of a Bears fan as the next guy (jesus, I live here) - but I have a feeling my anti-public methodology will lead me into picking SF next weekend for survivor (if they let me - seems WL survivor will lock out some of the more lopsided consensus lopsided games).
Any thoughts?

I hate Brady and New England but if they don't work on that offense forgetaboutit! No wounder the Def is so good who have they played???? 16-30 combinded record for teams they have played up until October! 22-28 Nov thur Dec! I hope I eat crow but like I said over-rated till they can beat someone good on the road and that doesn't look like its going to happen until N.E.!

Good chance the Bears destroy SF this week.
SF is freakin bad, and far worse on the road....and I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see the Bears win this one 40 something to 0.
As far as your comparisons go BB - Oakland has plenty of talent, but they make mistake after mistake. If they put a decent game together like they did on Sunday, they can compete with most teams. Problem is they don't.
Arizona is a totally different team at home too than on the road, and the Bears were in a real bad spot last Monday night at Arizona too.
Situations. Not many consider them. Only results. It'll get ya killed in the NFL.
I haven't seen the public numbers yet, but I'll bet this isn't one of the "squarest" (most highly lopsided bet by the public) games of the week. I think plenty will take those +16 points with SF.
If they wanted you to take the Bears and thought SF was the play, they'd have put up -10 or something.

The reason oak beat arizona is because they were crushed after that comeback win from Chicago an oak was due for a win.

All the Bears blow outs were against pretty crappy teams and at home. Well here's a crappy team and they'ye playing them at home. Alex Smith is in for a long day in Shi Town. Doubt they'll post more than 6 and the Bears will easily post above 24.

Last line this high this year was Indy -17 against the Titans, and the Titans lost by a point. Not saying this will happen here but that is a damn lot of points. I'd probably make two separate bets of the Niners +16.5 and the over (42) (not that this helps with survivor LOL). If the Niners can somehow scrape together 13 points you can't lose both bets. I'm not saying that will definitely happen but their offense is OK enough to get some points, and their defense sucks ass. Of course the weather in Chicago could affect the total play if a blizzard passes through on Sunday, which you know can happen there anytime after Labor day. GL if you play it.

I love chicago... and I think they will win. And I even would not be ultra-suprised if they cover this spread.
That said, I give them a 40%ish shot of doing so, especially with Mike Brown out for the season. He is damn important to the Chicago D machine - his absence will probably mean fewer defensive TD opportunities - which if the last game is any indication, is the best chance for chicago to score.
That said, all bets are off (no pun intended) - if Glassman manages to come back and redeem himself. In that case, I defer to Stif's writeup.
