I stand corrected, Moodie is not garbage, Melzer is!

anyways, I see chucky picked Almagro, and I read on another site someone else really liking him too. 50 units chucky? hmmmm I'll have to consider that one.

I've come to realize that you are never safe in tennis, or "looking good." Winning 6-2 in the first set means absolutely nothing. Tennis is all about runs and a 1 min lapse of concentration can cause you a match.

Melzer was up 0-40 on Dlouhy's serve, and Dlouhy somehow saves it. I'm gonna shut up now and just watch. I actually have double what I had on Moodie on Melzer.

Correct. Winning the first set 6-0 means only that you have won one set. No extra points for style. You still have to win one more set. In two out of three set matches, luck and streakiness are much more in play than 3 out of 5 matches.

Yep even watching the first set of Almagro vs. Marach I felt that Almagro was never going to get back in it but then again he grinded it out in the 2nd set and cruised in the easy 3rd. Tennis is all about momentum.

lets get em back today chucky, I got a big win on the over in the dallas game tonight. Looking to get the man back for today's upsets.

Very reluctant to play Xavier Malisse again, he sucked so bad, and still almost beat Mardy Fish who is a -500 fave? That guy sucks.

Lotsa matches, but I dunno why I bet on tennis though. The only way to win consistently on tennis for me is to bet hard on one or max two matches. If you bet a buncha matches, u are bound to lose one of them. It will most likely be a -300 fav or above too. Tennis is just a very fun sport to bet on, I'm a suck, what can I say. Nonstop action for 2 hours with momentum swings back and forth.

P.S.
I like Becker, Garcia Lopez, Ferrer, Hrbaty, Safin, Ancic, and Johannson.

Adding parlay: 1/2 money
Ancic -700
Robredo -500
Davydenko -1000

Recovering - Fish far from sucks. Remember this guy is coming off some major injuries last year and I find he's actually having a pretty good year. He cruised to his win over Vanek today and has proven to be one of the few americans who can win overseas matches. I went with X-Man cause I just don't like Spadea at all. Besides him being a real jackass his tennis has dropped off significantly from years past.

Horatio
10-24-2006, 08:29 AM
to hate Fish, but I do think he has gotten more serious about his game than before he was hurt.He has always had the talent but iI think he thought it was going to come too easy, or else thought he and Roddick were gonna be rock stars...cofee was worth discovering the new world for, wasn't it...

Robredo has been on my DO NOT PLAY list.... Always a heavy FAV but seems to lose... I've told my self to stay away from lines -400 and above. Hopefully this works for me.

recovering77
10-24-2006, 09:37 AM
The only one on my do not play list is dimitry tursonov. The play list as only a heavy underdog is the williams sisters, on a good day they can upset anyone.

I will take Ancic, Davydenko, and Ancic early in every tourney, but I'd say around the third round they all have a chance of losing. I've been impressed with Davydenko since I saw him play Federer or Nadal a while back, got a monster serve. Theres a lot of people who are inconsistent, but they're usually not heavy favs. like Hrbaty and Arnaud Clement.

You know what I hate? Betting on these old people that I know by the name. Vincent Spadea used to be really good and Carlos Moya too. But dem tired legs don't do much for them these days.

p.s. robredo takes the second set and Hrbaty up a break in the third.

Ginepri had a nice run last year towards the end of the season. This year he's basically fallen off after having big expectations. He's put together a couple of good tournies late but he's not the player he was last year.

Just think the matchup favors Mirnyi here and there is value on the play. Tursunov is still the man I just think he's just running into some bad matchups of late for him. Sluiter is an old dog. Solid indoors and used to be a very good player on tour. He's been playing mostly challenger tournies this season but has very solid indoor results.

against del Potro? I should not do this perhaps, but I have to go with the one I have heard of, over the one I have never heard of. Sometimes that is a terrible reasoning process, but one unit (-228) on del Potro. The kid has already won me money, so if he gets upset by Clemens I won't feel terrible, just amazed at the depth of talent in men's tennis.:gulp:

damn can't finish the matches cuz I gotta go to class.

two things I've learned from Tennis today.
Some people suck at serving, and you can't depend on them to win games just cuz they're serving, especially in doubles.

Doubles are stupid, no deuce, no third set in some tourneys, and it's very hard to pick doubles because you could have two top players playing some nobodies who actually work together well, and they lose.

got Melzer/Knowle, Youhzny/Zimonic, and Del Potro, Davydenko, and Jankovic to end the day. If any of them lose, it'll be a losing day for me.

P.S. Tursonov down a break, but I would really be surprised if he loses here. He's been looking good all match. Owell, I bet against him too so I hope he loses.

Doubles is very difficult to bet. I really only try and nail one or two a week if that. The rules were set to try and entice singles players to play more doubles and to make the matches shorter. In general it's been better for the actual game of doubles but it's made it harder on bettors as matches are no longer predictable. Good Luck!!!!

I agree although in Tursunov's defense he has been facing some tough players of late and when you face a big serve and volleyer on indoor carpet it's very tough. Max the beast came through. If we can only get Soderling and JMDP to win as well it will be another amazing day in tennis.

5 dimes actually let me cancel it. I only bet it cuz I was tilted from Davydenko dicking me over. He cost me 5 parlays with him as the last leg. He only gained me a couple of bucks with a win, dunno why I put him in so many. I threw Moodie in a small parlay that I hit though, so I didn't lose too much today.

b/c when Malisse is on and that's a big WHEN he's one of the top players in the game. This match has 3 sets written all over it. If Benneteau was in the +150 range there would be alot of value on him but at that price it's a toss up. Definetly worth the play if you want the action but for me it's just a toss up and not worth it. Good Luck!!!!

from watching 2 of malisse's matches from start to finish, I can say this guy is one of the most inconsistent I watch. When I was talking earlier about people who consistently don't win n their serve, it was mainly cuz of Malisse. He'll get broken, then break right back the second set. It's almost like it's a disadvantage for him to serve. I'll definitely play it tomorrow. Just gotta see what else there is.

He has a big problem mentally, talent wise he's as good as any. It will be a tough match. Something like 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 either way.

Well caught me off guard on the 50 unit play there bro!!!!! Wow, definitely made me tak a second look at that match!GL:gulp:

I am a little surprised at the vote for Fish to handle Gonzo, although I see its value. Gonzo's situation regarding Shaghai would seem compelling enough for him to gut it out against Mardy:

"(Moving three places to No. 9 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race by reaching last week's Madrid final, Gonzalez would go as high as No. 7 if he wins the Basel title. (The top eight players in the race will qualify for Shanghai.). Gonzalez could net 40 points (50 winner's points less his current 'best fifth' result of 10 points), which would take his points tall to 417, ahead of current No. 7 James Blake (411) and No. 8 Tommy Robredo (410)."

Gonzalez said: "There are just two weeks left, so I will keep trying hard to qualify for Shanghai."

Needing points and getting them are two different things however, and Fish definitely has the game to beat Gonzo, no question.

PS On a trivial amount compared to the 50 unit bet, I am being lured by Haas, who also has a serious points reason to continue playing well. Yet, here is another guy who's brain is treacherous...what the hell, a unit on Haas over Kunitsyn!:gulp:

Horatio - Part of the reasoning was Gonzo's struggles yesterday versus Bolelli. Fena does have alot of pts to defend here but he's played way too much tennis in the last 3 weeks. I saw somewhere that he's played 10 matches in the last 17 days. That's alot of tennis. So far the match has been really tight with Fish taking the first tiebreak. Fish has a good enough serve and volley game for this surface to cause Fena some problems.

CNote not doubting the playing there. Gonzo has played an awful lot, although I did not realize it was THAT much, and did struggle as you said, last match. Even without that Fish could beat him. So I understand the play. ..

On a side note, I hate round robin tournaments and of course Shanghai is one, and they are going to have more as part of the ATP changes made for the coming year. I cannot see how that will spark fan interest in the least. :bang:

Now, I can start worrying over Henman. For some reason, purely intuitive, I have a bad feeling that Wawrinka handles him.But I liked the comments about the surface by Henman, and the fact that he too is worried about standings, only he is concerned about the Ozzie Open seeding he may or may not get depending on how these tournaments go. wow chucky what a player. ur on these guys for most of the week, then you kick em to the curb and bet against all of them lol. Mirnyi, Giquel, and ur boy X man, going against all of them today. Been betting tennis with u all week, its been fun, but I don't seem to win too much. I'll lay like couple hundred in bets a day, and end up winning 20, or losing 50. my discipline with doubles is what ruins me.

Anyways, I like most of ur plays.

Hernych and Johannson look solid. Ur also on my man Soderling, but Gasquet will play him tough. We'll see, probably throw a few bucks on them tomorrow for kicks.

VA Tech came through.

Edit: nevermind, i decided to do a relatively big play on Ginepri. Malisse owes me some goddamn money. He cost me $580 when he lost to Mardy Fish, and he cost me some money when he beat my man Bennetteau. Funny, we were just talking about Ginepri a few days ago about how he's not the same player he used to be. He better be that same player this morning.

adding units to kunitsyn as well, but this is a scary play for me. I think Starace is a very dangerous player, and if Kunitsyn wins, it's not gonna be by more than a 7-6, 6-4.

Also don't like that the favorites are dropping like flies today.

P.S. why is kunitsyn even favored? Same age, Starace is taller, and he has a higher ATP ranking?

Starace is not good on any surface other then clay and Kunitsyn is flat out awesome in tournies that take place in Russia. I don't have his record but this guy is seriously awesome when playing on home soil. Plus this surface is suited for him.

looks like Nalbandian ran outta gas. Good run though, can't blame him. hate how all these matches are starting late. Im gonna be at work for the start and end of the match.

If you knew me, you know I love people who play well at home. That's the sole reason I took VA tech last night. Can't add any more to Kunitsyn cuz the match shoulda started 45 mins ago.

Fucking Grosjean. Serving for the match he gets broken to love then loses in the TB. Kunitsyn at least comes through with an easy win.

Still waiting on the odds for Kunitsyn and Wawrinka to come out as both are intriguing plays. Will have to wait and see in the morning.

Bodog has Gonzo at -130 and Wawrinka at -110...

Gonzo is 3-0 lifetime against him with all 3 wins coming this year (2 on hard, 1 on clay).

Gonzo has won 6 of the 7 sets.

did I say I wasn't gonna bet against Malisse anymore? Well I refuse to see him go far into this tourney. He will finally disappoint as a favorite.

Gasquet is a solid play though. I like it a lot.

thinking about do a small play on Guibis ML, cuz Ancic has not impressed me.

I take:

2.3 Units Gasquet -245 Vs. Clement
2 Units Gicquel Vs. Malisse (this motherfucker)
.2 units Guibis +885.

it's mostly an NCAA day though, I'll be there. lates

and hope he can come through against Clement, who always looks lik a surder dude who somehow got onto a court (but he has a game, admittedly.) It will be an interesting test for Gasquet...

GL on the others guys:gulp:

GONZO has really made a push this week, coming through again, 4 and 4 over Wawrinka,...he has to be headed to Shanghai ...

Clement has beaten Gasquet twice this year already. I think Gasquet's been playing well, so hopefully the third time's the charm.

Here's the deal. Personally I'm taking the shot with Ancic. You would say take a shot at a guy who's a -320 fave and I must be crazy. Well here's why I'm taking him and why it's scary.

If Mario wins his match he takes one step closer to making the TMC in Shanghai in a couple of weeks. Historically these two are polar opposites when playing in a final. Mario stinks while ToJo is as good as it comes. Just think if Mario ever had a chance to finally take the next step in his career this would be his oppurtunity. Alot of pressure besides just the final with a possible shot at TMC but I'll take my chances here as I believe ToJo is still not totally fit.,

Sunday

St. Petersburg

real reservation is thatT.J. apparently loves this tournament, and won it last year. I know the points matter to Ancic.I just wonder if the price is that good when considering he is playing a defending champion. I think I may go halves on this, partially also because I think Ancic is a little shakey at times, and I am fooled by him often. He is also coming off multiple injuries isn't he?? GL:gulp:

I think if Ancic makes it this far, he's probably gonna take it too.

I'm just not ready to unload on a -320 when I think TJ can possibly win this match.

I guess my problem is I bet for value with tennis. I'm not getting that much for the risk that is involved with taking Ancic. I mean for god sakes this guy got bounced in the first round of the last tourney he was in.

Malisse finally lost today, so I recoupe some of my lossses on that fool.

I actually have the hawaii game to worry about for now, but probably a small play play on TJ.
