Hey guys,
I recently had my firepay account hacked and was ripped off for $600. I set up a payment plan to pay $100 a month for 6 months after they sent it to a collection agency. Since they are shut down to US customers, do i still have to pay this?? I know you guys arent lawyers, but you guys seem pretty smart, so what do you think?

I don't know, you might want to talk to a lawyer, just don't pay him because that will eat up whatever you might save by not paying, LOL. If your account really was hacked then you have an even stronger case for not paying. Since Firepay no longer allows payments from Americans for internet gambling it's worthless and you don't need them so just forget about that account.
Firepay is based in another country so I doubt they can collect as easily as an American company can. They sold the debt to a collection agency that pays a fraction of the amount, maybe $200 in this case, to buy the right to ask for payment from the debtor. For such a small amount they aren't going to work too hard to collect it. Legally they are not allowed to call your house over and over again or hassle you for the money.
My somewhat-of-a-friend owed paypal, firepay, and neteller about $3,000 each. Those debts were spread out from 2 to 6 years ago and they never collected a dime. A few phone calls and letters were sent but that was it. If you don't want to risk even the remote chance that your credit rating will be damaged then take the money and double it on a sure thing -- I mean smart wager. Let me know if you need one, hehehe.
