Well it seems like Joe Torre might actually keep his job granted everyone even ex-mayor giuliani is pitching for his not being fired. What do i think??? ESPN, Giuliani, and Yankees staff are insane. I have to agree with NY Daily News' Mike Lupica and Cold Pizza's Woody Page in Joe Torre must go, and here are a ton of reasons that cannot be debated upon:
5)Joe Torre had to deal with the injuries of Matsui and Sheffield.
UMMM last time I checked the Yankees lineup is so stacked that they were not missed at all.
4)Steven "Deuche" Phillips "nobody talks about Bobby Cox being fired for making it 14 straight times and only 1 win. And its the managments fault.
Hey moron, its because Cox does not have a $210 million payroll to juggle with. Cox's Braves had to play with lots of rookies and utilize their farm system dispite having a great starting rotation. No wonder you cant get another GM job.
Cashman did everything he could in building a winning team: He got Mussina at his prime, got Giambi in his prime, got ARod in his prime, got Abreu in his prime, got Matsui in his prime, got Damon in his prime, what else do you want. There were no pithing out there to get.
3)Its AROD's fault and AROD this and AROD that:
Hey get a life already people. AROD could have hit .500 for the series and still the yankees would have lost. We got smacked point blank. Yes AROD has not won a chip for us, but last time i check neither has, Mussina, Sheffield, Randy, Matsui, Giambi, etc.
2)Who in their right mind puts Jaret Wright in a do or die situation??? I talked to my cousin who is an A's fan and i told him, if the Twins win game 3 they 100% have to pitch Santana in game 4. Their is no guarantee in the playoffs. Jaret Wright is lucky to be wearing a uniform and he is going to pitch the most important game this yr for the Yankees??
AND THE NUMBER ONE REASONs:
1) Its not Torre's fault the team did not hit or pitch well.
This is probably the most contradictory statement i have heard.
Funny how when the Yankees won 4 WS in 5 yrs, Joe Torre is the greatest Manager and so much praise was on him yet he didnt get that clutch HR in '96, he did not pitch or hit either.. YET when things are going bad its the teams fault??? Thats horse shit..
This is Larry Brown all over again. When the Pistons won the NBA title who got the credit?? who everyone talked about??? Larry Brown thats who.. But when the Knicks stunk like shit who everyone tlaked about??? the team not the coach.. this is sooo not right...
I guess people forgot that collapse in 2004 to the Red Sox up 3-0 and losing and if it were another manager they would have been canned. Last yrs loss to the Angels and now this??? Gimme a break, im not saying Pinella is the solution but its time for change all around...
FYI: Casey Stengel won 10 WS in 12 yrs for the Yankees and he got canned after the Maz HR, so nobody is immortal.
