Tempted but going to leave it alone. That match will certainly have 1 break in it and end probably with 1 or 2 TB's. I like Wawrinka as well.

I'm probably going to go nuts during the Ljubo match but I gotta think he has alot of motivation. He has not qualified yet for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai and he's got alot of points to defend here as he won the tournament last year. Ljubo is in need of some major confidence and I hope he gets it. I might have one or two more tomorrow morning.

:cross: my fingers about today. I have a really good feeling about Wednesday's plays. Just to note I played against Srichaphan cause right now he has to qualify for Madrid and qualifying starts in a couple of days. As far as I know Johansson isn't in yet and although I played Vliegen I think he's assured of a MD spot due to withdrawals. Despite this match being in Johansson's home country more is on the line for Blake as he needs a deep run to continue holding onto his TMC spot in Shanghai. Remember all these factors are really starting to come in bigtime now. I haven't played anything for Vienna yet. Those will probably come in the morning.

Actually it was a bit wrong. The only two to qualify so far were Federer and Nadal. The others still have a shot. As for Blake I think it's more that Johansson has barely played due to his eye injury and that he probably will have to qualify for Madrid next week. Blake needs to make the QF's here to continue to keep up his good ranking. Next week will be difficult for him so he needs to get as many pts this week as he can.

GONZO over Moya. Am I overlooking something. 3-2 lifetime, but Gonzo has more on the line and has a better game for this surface it would seem to me. ...-210...also Haas over Hrbaty -20.6 ..I guess both are a bit tighter than one would believe on first glance.Haas has a lousy recent record against the Dominator but sheesh, not sure why. (Unfortunately, indoors helps with that wild high toss Dominator uses.:gulp:

I like Gonzo and that's one I'll probably be playing. haas scares me a bit. he made the match with fischer today alot tougher then it should be. i can easily see 3 sets there. i haven't seen the line on roddick but i would imagine it's somewhere around -300 and i think he'll dispose of chucho.
Horatio
10-10-2006, 10:20 PM
Haas is a DNP type player for me.He and Safin always get me, lured by their talent, then burned by their heads. Maybe cancel out that one. He is not worth the aggravation. If Roddick is reasonably priced, I am going with him as well. :gulp:

Horatio - did you see what happened with Lee this morning. Facing a guy ranked in the 500's Kravchuk opened as the fave and moved to like -250. Supposedly he took a HUGE dive in that match. He was purposely making errors and was barely moving on the court. What a shame.

JJ's serve is just flat out amazing. Besides that he doesn't have much game. Nadal should beat him but honestly I'm scared of that match. Line is not high and Nadal is heading home next week so I wouldn't be shocked to see JJ beat him. Still Nadal handled Phillippoussis awhile back which is a very similar player to PimPim. Nadal will probably win in 2 close sets. If one set goes to a TB I think JJ will take it.

Yea I was wondering about the Nadal match myself. I've got a couple of units on a Lubicic Nadal Parlay.
Listen ot this though, so I'm browsing through tennis lines on 5 dimes, and I see Bjorkman line, the other guy is like -400, then I'm like didn't I just see a score of 5-0 on this web site for that match? I check another site to make sure, but this match is currently going on right now, and Bjorkman just lost the first set 6-0. So I quickly slipped in a 5 unit play on the other Soderling. Hopefully this is not a setup, cuz as soon as the first set ended, the line was taken off the site. Also, Bjorkman is about to take the first game of the second set.

Bjorkman is sick. He caught a cold from his son and wife. He said so in his ATP blog. Plus this surface doesn't suit him. The match went off earlier then expected so 5dimes got caught with there pants down. i have to believe they'll void those wagers. As for the Nadal match it'll be tough. JJ is not easy to break with that huge serve plus he's playing at home. Saying that I think nadal takes it in a tough match. Good Luck!!!!

Theres sometihng fishy going on today man. I see Kuznetsova as only a -375 favorite, and she gets bitch slapped in straight sets against someone I've never heard of. On 5 dimes, the Nadal matchg has gone from -400 to -395.
My worst nightmare is that I'm risking 5 units with no chance of a return. What if I lose? I don't think they'd refund my money.

Be careful in the Moscow tourney. There have been strange results and rumours of match fixing have come up. Kuzy's loss wasn't to a no name. Kuzy has played alot lately and that could have attributed to her loss. Don't worry about Soderling he's going to win the match. I have extreme confidence that he'll finish bjorkman here this set. As for the Nadal match a 5 dollar price difference isn't much. That means someone bet $100 on Johansson. If the line was to drop around -350 then you know there is money coming in on JoJo.

Stakhovsky is a good indoor player and Tursunov has played too much tennis lately. Strange results happening in Moscow which makes me think there are some fixed matches there. Stakhovsky though is a decent player and I'm not that suprised there.

I would never bet big on Tursunov. He is one of the most inconsistent tennis players I have followed for the past few months. He can go far into a tournament, or he can struggle as a -1000-1200 favorite. Then he'll be down 3-0 in the third set of a match, and somehow come back to win, heart attack city with that guy.

Problem with Tursunov he's played ALOT of tennis lately. The guy has as much heart as any player on tour and he's certainly one of my faves. I think he happens to be the more consistent players on tour generally getting deep in almost every tourney he plays in. Like i said before his problem and why he plays alot of 3 setters is the last few months he's played alot of tennis.

I got paid out on Rochus already. What happened in the 3rd set there was a bad connection at the umpires desk and he wasn't able to update the scores. Scores were updated on the Bet and Win site which had live betting on it. The final scoreline was 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 for Rochus.

The factor I have been lax in figuring is te defending of points by particular players in particular tournaments. ie, i Tursunov has more at stake due to defending points in an upcoming tourney than he does in one he is currently playing in, naturally he is more likely, not necessarily to tank a match, just not be terribly upset if his losing it makes for more preparation for the more important (to him) tourney...hard to keep track of for me at least, but real important.

Exactly like Blake has no pts to defend this week but I do believe with a good performance he can gain some pts to help him keep his ranking and maybe move up. I'm not totally up on the rankings but I think the most evident thing is do players have to qualify for an upcoming tourney and do they pts to defend from the previous season. It isn't an exact science but it's certainly something to look at. I have to go over it again but let's see who has to play in qualifying this weekend for next weeks tourney and how they've faired this week.

I dunno man, Roddick is my favorite player that sucks. This guy is just like Tursunov, you never know which guy is gonna show up. He can also not even scare any of the bigger names either.
P.S. The more I thought about this match, the more I thought it was gonna be another Nadal day. Well hopefully it will be like last last tournament where there was one dya of allllll upsets, then the next day every single favorite won.
Niemenans opponent is pretty old, and I've never heard of him either. I was just betting on his age, cuz old folk can't move well anymore.

Gasquet is winless against top-10 players this year. He's not great against power players and even an out of form Roddick would give Gaquet fits. Roddick happens to be playing very well right now which is evident in his comfortable win over Acasuso yesterday.

yay, niemenan won! straight set winnnna. Too bad I didn't get a chance to hedge my Ferrer bet in time.
I usually do a straight bet pretty large on somebody, but I'll throw in a small parlay on the underdog and some heavy favs so in case I lose, I know I have a guaranteed + juice winner.
hopefully this is just a favorite day.
How do you feel about the Clement and Baghdatis matches? I'm loving the play against Baghdatis cuz I don't think he has much to play for just as Nadal yesterday. Clement is not the most dominant player, so I might consider a smallplay against him.
coreyschucky
10-12-2006, 08:23 AM
Clement should win but Stakhovsky's serve bothers me in that match. As for Baggy I think he'll win cause Koubek although playing well lately isn't that good of a player. I went really small evident by the 1 unit on baggy. Although Baggy doesn't have much to play for you have to remember he's in the thick of the Tennis masters cup race in which right now he's not in the top 8 and he needs to get deep in every tournament including Vienna which has more pts.

TENNIS MASTERS CUP

Masters Cup Spotlight: Seven of Top 10 in Action This Week
© AFP / Getty Images
This Week: Vienna, Stockholm, Moscow
Seven of the Top 10 players in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race standings take the courts at one of three European tournaments this week in an attempt to secure Tennis Masters Cup bids. Six singles spots remain for the prestigious Tennis Masters Cup, to be held at Shanghai’s Qi Zhong Stadium from November 12-19, and less than 90 points separate No. 3 Ivan Ljubicic from No. 10 Mario Ancic in the Race standings.
At the BA-CA Tennis Trophy in Vienna, all eight seeds are among the Top 20 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race, led by Ivan Ljubicic (3rd), Andy Roddick (4th), defending Tennis Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian (8th) and Marcos Baghdatis (9th). Roddick trails Ljubicic by two points for third place and both players will need to reach the quarterfinals in order to improve their season point totals. Baghdatis stands just one point behind Nalbandian, who is playing in his first ATP tournament since the US Open. Nalbandian is 25 points shy of No. 7 Tommy Robredo, who is off this week. Nalbandian will need to reach the final to pass the Spaniard.
Novak Djokovic also will look to improve his Tennis Masters Cup bid this week in Vienna, coming in on the heels of the title win at the Open de Moselle in Metz that pushed him up two positions to No. 18 in the Race. The 19-year-old Serb trails No. 8 Nalbandian by 122 points in the Race standings, but has won 18 of his past 22 matches in a run that also includes a runner-up finish in Umag.
Rafael Nadal, who already has clinched a spot in the Tennis Masters Cup, makes his first ATP tournament appearance since the US Open and enters as the top seed at the If Stockholm Open. Defending champion and Stockholm second seed James Blake moved up three spots to No. 6 in the Race standings after capturing the Bangkok title two weeks ago, and will look to keep the players behind him at bay. Blake will net 14 Race points by defending his title this week.
Meanwhile, Nikolay Davydenko could potentially overtake Roddick at No. 4 in the Race standings this week by winning the Kremlin Cup title. Davydenko, who comes back after taking two weeks off for the first time this season, won the Moscow tournament in 2004.
The remaining Top 10 players in the Race standings – Roger Federer, Robredo and Ancic – return to ATP action next week in Madrid. Next week’s winner at the Mutua Madrilena Masters Madrid will add 100 Race points to his season total.
Federer made a successful tournament debut at the AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships last week by capturing his circuit-best ninth title of the season. In the process, Federer broke his own record for most INDESIT ATP Race points in a season with 1,374 points. Also in Tokyo, Robredo and Ancic each added to their Race totals by reaching the Tokyo quarterfinals. Robredo now stands one point shy of Blake, while Ancic trails No. 8 Nalbandian by 22 points.

The INDESIT ATP Race is a calendar-year points race that determines which eight players qualify for the Tennis Masters Cup. At the Tennis Masters Cup players are divided into two round-robin groups based in part on their Race position. Four players ultimately emerge from the round-robin stage to contest the knockout semifinals, with the semifinal winners advancing to the final.
Each player begins the season with zero points and accumulates points based on his performance at 18 tournaments during the year: four Grand Slams and nine ATP Masters Series events plus his five best results at other ATP tournaments.
At Grand Slams and ATP Masters Series tournaments, all results count, even if a player eligible for the main draw loses in the first round or withdraws from the event. So in the countdown to Tennis Masters Cup, performances at the two remaining ATP Masters Series events in Madrid and Paris will count.
However, performances at other ATP events (the International Series) will only count towards a player's Race position if the points earned exceed the points earned from a player's best fifth performance in the International Series in 2006.
For example, at the China Open in Beijing, Nikolay Davydenko earned eight Race points by reaching the quarterfinals. But because his best fifth result (Bastad final in July) was 24 points, Davydenko's Race total did not increase.
Marcos Baghdatis earned 35 Race points for winning the China Open. Because his best fifth result at that time was just one point (Auckland first round loss) his Race total increased by 34 points.
Click here to see how the Top 20 players in the INDESIT ATP Race earned their points in 2006. Please refer to the table below to view the INDESIT ATP Race points available for the rest of the year.

There hasn't been a 3rd set in doubles all season with the exception of the majors. They adopted a new rule this season in order to increase activity by singles players. There are also no ad games in the first two sets either.

I knew that Baghdatis match was fixed! I watched every point live online. Baghdatis was dominating the first set. He was up 5-0 and won it 6-1, then the other guy takes the next 2.
Well thanks for the Roddick pick dude, that and Baghdatis made me back 3 units, and I'm right where I was at after the Niemenan match, just what I wanted.
Have fun wit ur girl.
