BETonSPORTS Directors Fight Possible Extradition, Players Remain in a Limbo
“They shut down because they had no money to pay players” a British payment processor told TheOnlineWire.com this morning in London. Bad news indeed for the customers of the former sports betting giant.
The reason in support of BoS Board of Directors decision to shut down the company was the TRO issued on July 17, now renewed until October 16.
However it is unlikely that British Banks took action on the TRO by freezing the company’s funds. A U.S. TRO has no effect in the U.K. unless the issuer files the request with a British Court. This has not been the case so far.
Our sources in the City speculate that the alleged real reason behind the decision was the need to find a “deal” with the U.S. Department of Justice who allegedly threaten to seek extradition of all the members of the BoS Board of Directors.
The involvement of a British politician, the peer of the House of Lords and Shadow Minister for Northern Ireland Lord Glentoran, appears to be the primary reason why BoS is desperately seeking a deal with the DoJ .
Albeit downplayed by the British media, the involvement of the prominent politician in the case could lead to a political scandal.
God forbids should the U.K. Conservative party find itself having to deal with a shadow minister who stiffed thousands of punters to save his Lordly jacket.
While Lord Glentoran remains silent, BoS legal team works around the clock trying to strike a deal with the DoJ before the next hearing on the TRO, currently set for October 16.
“I have around $14k which is being held at ransom in my Betmill account. I’ve called BOS several times and have been told varying stories” a U.K. punter told TheOnlineWire.com.
“I would very much appreciate if you could let me know if there is anything I can do about my BoS funds at the moment? I have a withdrawal of $26.400 pending and have no idea what to do.” A German player told TOW.
Hundreds of non U.S. customers of BETonSPORTS have been obliged to share the same irritating experience thousands of U.S. players are enduring.
“From what I understand from several sources in London these people, Board and remaining upper management of BoS, are busy getting off the hook from the charges.” Roberto Castiglioni of TheOnlineWire.com said. “A prolonged agony is also beneficial since they have time to dry up whatever resource left and leave punters to deal with breadcrumbs”
