Big play on SD.
SD -2.5

I like San Diego until they prove me wrong, which just might be this weekend.

Pub (w/spread) on SD 75% to Baltimore 25%
Pub ML on Baltimore 82% to SD 18%
I have no idea of the number of folks taking either side so these % could be seriously misleading.
Why does the Pub favor Balt ML, but SD w/spread?
Any thoughts on this game?

People bet the ML on low spreads because if a team covers a spread less than 3 they should win the game outright. Not to mention the juice with the +2.5 versus the ML.

Don't be stupid, take the ML on Baltimore and make your money. Rivers will get run over, he hasn't faced any pressure as a pro, and we will shut down LT.

check out my thread....JohnnyMaple....its got some interesting points for my reasons to believe that the Ravens are going to shock the Bolts

I don't think that Baltimore is that strong. They are a little overrated this year. Their opponents combined record is 1-7. Tampa, Oakland, and Cleveland are very weak teams. The Chargers offense is 1st in total points scored per game, 3rd in total yards, and 2nd in rushing yards. The Baltimore defense is going to be looking for LT the whole game, but the one weapon Philip Rivers has for short and long yardage is Antonio Gates. He has only had 6 receptions and 1 TD, but he is there when you need him. I believe this game, they will need him the most because the run game may not pick up too fast. Now I know the Chargers have only played Oakland and Tennesee but the Raven's offense isn't too flashy. It might be a good idea to take out the total points scored factor (due to the teams they have played) because both teams are in the top 10. Even after Baltimore played some of the worst teams in the league, they are still in the bottom half of the league for total yards (23rd) passing yards (25th) and rushing yards (17th). Plus, they struggled against Cleveland who has a pitiful defense until they realized they were losing to the Brownies and made a somewhat nifty comeback. San Diego's defense as of now is #1 in basically every category on defense excpet run stopping in which they are 4th (#1 is Baltimore). I think this game will a battle. but I believe Rivers will show up and get the job done.

SD is going to come out on top

If you're going to play this card I think its only fair to mention that San Diego's opponents are a combined 0-5. Oakland and Tennessee are definitely 2 of the worst 5 teams in the league, if not the worst, period.

To the Chargers credit they absolutely dismantled them both.

Chargers coming off the bye week is one angle that should not be overlooked.

I like the Chargers, but not sure if I like em enough to bet them. Too many unknowns. Rivers first real test, hostile environment...

Playing division rivals on the road is not that easy all the time.

I agree....IMO AFC North divisional games are usually played tough....3 out 4 teams use ball control systems and depend on their defenses....often games are kept close if that philosophy is used...just my opinion tho...

Using SI's #'s, this has only happened twice this year. Week one, it was Car side and Atl ML. The Atl ML cashed. Week two had, and have to give this a push, 50% on the side and Det ML @ Chi. So I put this at 1-0-1 on the dog ML in this situation. Doesn't mean shineola, but when I seen it in week one, I tracked it. Balt is going to be tested and we will see after this game if they are for real. Going 4-0 is a tough feat. I had to put my dough on SD -2 1/2. Not sold on Balt just yet.

BTW, I only read the first post in this thread. If it was discussed previously, I'm sorry.

Thanks Fear, DJ, JohnnyML, Rok, GM, HomeD, Chau, & yomonte. Especially you A-Drive as to why I’ll add a little additional information.

Generally traveling to the opposite coast is a drain on a team and could be a factor. In the case of SD I don’t think so much. Let’s look at the last two seasons (prior to that SD sucked ass). Aside from the distraction of having Steve Foley shot by an off duty police while drunk off his ass, or T. Kiel arrested for shipping cough syrup to his home in Texas, I think SD is more focused and in sync then ever before. The Charger D will be too much for Baltimore.

San Diego traveling to the East coast (and Midwest) to play…
2005 won in NE, lost in Philly (blocked FG returned for a TD otherwise they had it), at the Jets won, at Washington won, at Indy won (ending Indy’s undefeated season), only other road losses to Denver (again should of won), and KC at the end of the season.

2004 SD beat Carolina at home, and lost to Atlanta 20-21 (blew a 20-0 lead). On the road they beat Oakland, KC, and Cleveland (21-0 in the snow).

Yes Oakland is a terrible team this year, but give SD credit in week one for going into Oakland (hostile environment if there ever was one) on MNF (Pressure of National spotlight on River Phillips) and shutting them out. By the time Oakland got to Baltimore they were a beating down team.

GL to all, whatever side you are on. Both teams need to make a statement. I think SD’s is louder on Sunday.

GL dude, but

GO RAVENS

I can't let me heart decide what games I bet on or you know who I would be betting on.

I hope Rivers has earplugs

I am hoping by the 2nd half the Rivers won't need earplugs because the crowd will be slienced by the Ravens inability to score. Inspite I hope FearTheRaven you down some cold ones and enjoy the game. It will be a blast. Support your Ravens.

RoKozak you make some good points. Ravens offense is not all that.

A-Drive lay it all on Baltimore. I'll be thinking of you. More if SD covers, less if they don't. LMFAO :beer2:
Should be a good matchup.
