Auburn (-19.5) vs Mississippi State

Simply put, you need some kind of offense in order to score points (although MSU's defense did carry a few in last year). I think Auburn will be able to keep MSU's ball possession down to a minimum throughout the game. I see Auburn being able to actually move the ball wearing down the MSU defense throughout the first half. I really don't see a lot of points scored in the first half. However, I do expect Auburn to be able to move the ball more effectively in the second half (middle of the third quarter and the fourth quarter) which should allow them to cover easily.

Another thing I noted last week while watching the USC vs MSU game was the mass exodus of MSU fans at the beginning of the fourth quarter after the trick play by USC resulting in a touchdown(score 12 to 0). I see the same thing happening this week if Auburn gets a 2 touchdown lead. That has to be disheartening to the players on the field and affect their will to play. Maybe not much of an effect, but some.

Virginia Tech (-12.5) vs North Carolina

Virginia Tech looked really good last week and I think Beamer showed some class in keeping the score from becoming too lopsided. This week I think Vtech will keep NC on their heels with the passing game with a rushing surprise occasionally. This isn't a look ahead game for VTech and I think Beamer is going to use it as a means to oil the machine.

Kent (+6) vs Army

Statistics don't lie so Kent should get killed this week. However, the statistics don't show the whole picture. Kent was dominated last week by a better team and the score showed it. However, as has been pointed out by several people in this forum, Kent had the opportunity to score several times, but didn't capitalize on those opportunities. I don't see the same thing happening with Army. And while it doesn't impact my ability to wager objectively, it's always nice when a squid can bet on a dog against Army.

Texas Tech (-7) vs UTEP

Balls to wall passing here. Lots of moving chains and extra points. But when the dust clears in El Paso (and believe me, they have plenty of dust), Texas Tech will have been able to stop enough of UTEP possessions to cover.

Georgia (-3) vs South Carolina

Granted, South Carolina played well against a good MSU defense last week, but they didn't have to contend with any sort of offense. Georgia, IMHO, is simply the better team here.

Ohio vs Northern Illinois (-14.5)

Looking at the statistics here. The scores say different, but look at the numbers closely. N.Ill. moved the ball pretty good last week considering their opponent (Ohio State). Ohio didn't. I see N.Ill. moving the ball VERY well against Ohio with Wolfe leading the way.
