View Full Version : Pittsburgh/Miami on Wagertracker
On wagertracker.com....at 1:30pm CST on Thursday....33 picks for Miami and 23 picks for Pittsburgh.
What do you all think of wagertracker. Are these sharp players that know what they are doing or are they the general public that has no clue.
I don't know what to think yet.

Interesting Info:
Since the opening game has been switched to Thursday nights the super bowl champs have covered all but 1. Indy/NE a couple seasons back.

I been watching it in NCAAFB and they don't seem to be public players, they actually seem to hit when a majority is on one side. Of course we have no data for NFL>

Thanks Horfin.
Thats kinda what I figured...the concsensus was going to be more of a sharp number....AT LEAST AT THIS POINT when the thing is really just marketed to ultimatecapper and the other sites that Bobby B has.

Just my opinion, but over time, it will probably become more public oriented, just a heads up.
We are getting on the order of 5-10 new users from google searches per day. Most of them are picking games, though some are running their own pools and not participating in the public contests in a huge way. On the season opening weekend for NCAAF we had around 20 new users, and we had around 15 today for the NFL season opener.
When we started, most of the users were from shgoddess, or from here (the former because that site used to be aligned with wtk, the latter for obvious reasons). Both have been fairly accurate - so much as you could actually use the consensus as something to bet rather than to fade.
Point being - just be careful as there will soon hit a tipping point where new users will outnumber the "old timers" - a point that might hit as soon as this weekend. After about 3 weeks in, Experts Only mode on the consensus should start to become more reliable.

Had to search to find this thread:
Public was 3-10 at wager tracker on sides (4-10 if you count San Fransisco, but Public was 50.70% on SF.)
Public was 9-5 on totals at wagertracker.

Well it only goes to make sense. In CFB (so far) and baseball (all season), the public has been cleaning house, and the results for them on wagertracker has been pretty good so far, from what you guys say here.
In the NFL yesterday though, many dogs and unders covered, and many public plays went up in smoke.
Guys, there are not too many anti public players out there. Everyone makes plays against the public now and then, well most everyone anyway, but in reality, almost everyone makes many more "public plays" than anti-public. You gotta really have an anti public mindstate to be a true anti-public player, and that's something you have to train yourself to do. You gotta play on games that don't look like they have a chance. You gotta dig for reasons lines are so low when they look like they should be higher. Most people just don't do this. They see the low number and think easy winner....and there ya have it, publc loading up on one side.
It really does take some balls sometimes to play anti-public, cause you're laying your money on plays that don't seem to have a chance....but more times than not, those are the strongest plays on the board, because the linesmakers know more than any of us. It's their job. 95% of the betting public will never accept this fact though and they will continue to try and outsmart the oddsmakers, and it will never happen in the long run.
There's not even close to enough anti public guys to outnumber public ones on the net, or anywhere....or even come close, no matter how small the amount of people being polled. Anywhere you get numbers on the net, you're getting the public opinion....some places just stronger than others.

to my knowledge, wagertracker has been around for several years (at least 5) and prior to the new format, you could go in and sort based on top 10, top 50 and "All" It was quite common to see the top 10 players going against the public, and the percentages would reflect that. I haven't spent a whole lot of time in the site lately, so I'm not too certain that the same sort option is still there.

Once we get another 100-200 signups there entering plays on a regular basis, it will be a solid public perception and a wonderful tool to use to fade one sided games (in the right situations, not all of course)
As Fish noted, we're getting a ton of newbies each and every day and it wont be long before that site is huge and pumps out some great guys to tail on the GOOD RECORDS side of the site and fade on the consensus.
Cant wait till that site matures! It'll be one hell of a tool!
