OK, here goes, first picks posted.

My favs this week involve the state of Oregon.

Oregon St +8 @ Boise St. *1 unit

OSU rushing and defense should keep it close, even on the blue turf. Misread this one badly. Never go against Boise on the smurf turf.

Oregon -5 @ Fresno St *2 units

Similar story here. Strong O-line for Ducks with 5 returning starters. Ducks manhandled Stanford. Will be tougher this week @ Fresno, but Oregon rushing attack should be too much for Fresno, Ducks should get the cover.

The rest

Illinois +12 @ Rutgers *1 unit Zook improving Big Ten doormat, too many points for Rutgers against the cornfed midwesterners.

N. Illinois -14 v Ohio U. *1 unit Class of the MAC will run wild on the Bobcats.

Iowa -19 @ Syr * 2 units A somewhat overlooked Iowa team (in the shadow of Ohio State) goes into Syracuse and dominates a sad Orangemen team. This one looks to be something like 44-7.

Minn +8.5 @ Cal * 1 unit Cal overrrated?

Kent State +6 v Army * 2 units It sounds ridiculous, but Kent was not as bad as the 44-0 score last week indicated. Army brings nothing to the table, and should not be favored by 6 over anyone.

Ohio St +2.5 @ Tex * 1 unit Gimme the veteran QB and veteran offensive playmakers in what could be a shootout.

Notre Dame -8 v Penn State ND offense rebounds and puts a hurt on Nittany Lions. Penn St. 76 yards rushing against Akron? I don't think they can fix that in time to handle ND in South Bend.

Auburn -20 @ Miss St * 2 units Class of SEC whoops on doormat. Bulldogs showed nothing against a middle of the road South Carolina team.

Good luck everyone!

I'm with you on more than half those. Take a look at Texas Tech giving only 7 to UTEP.

Good Luck!

Thanks Birdsfan.

And Waldo, I've been looking at that game. But the T. Tech defense scares the bejeezus outta me. Always has. I don't think they know the meaning of the word "defense" in Lubbock.

UTEP is much, much improved under Mike (Roll Tide!) Price, and Carson Palmer's little brother can put up some points.

It's a no play for me.

I guess it's true. Never go against Boise on the smurf turf.

Though the game started out just as I had thought. Good, hard running by OSU, some good defense. Then it all went to hell. :puke:

Here's hoping for a profitable Saturday
