View Full Version : Whatever happened to analysis to back up picks?

Guys, I'm curious why the vast majority of posters decline to back up their plays with reasoning? In the past guys would post plays but then back up their work with the reasons behind them.
Over the years I've posted 100's of plays in here but would never post without backing it up. Seems like whenever I drop in the posts are almost always just the team & spread. There are exceptions but they're definitely in the minority. Then the post is followed by a 1/2 dozen or more GL's, etc.
What happened? Maybe I've lost the right to chime in because I haven't posted in here for awhile but I've spent many, many hours here trying to pass info & plays on, etc. Ideas would get exchanged with the whole idea of getting better educated and beating the book. That seems pretty rare now and personally I know I lost my motivation to add stuff because I don't know how many are actually using it. I never could understand how simply throwing out a play really helps. I know all the countless GLs add nothing more than bumping the posts.
What happened here?

No need to say sorry and in fact you're one of the guys I do see adding your opinions to back up the plays. Even when guys simply toss in one line like "I like Belichick at home off a loss". Maybe it's just a preseason thing but I seem to remember this kind of trend last year too.

I am relatively new but always try to toss in my NO-ledge behind each play

Sometimes I feel like it, sometimes I don't. I do think that at least once in a while each individual should consider writing something just to show there is some thought and reasoning, but you'll also see even some of the strong cappers post no writeups.

Posting write ups can be very time consuming if you play every day....and make a bunch of plays every day.
I do when I can, and feel like it....but sometimes I just don't have time to sit at the computer and type for an hour to do a write up for each of the 10 plays I've made....especially for like college football when I might make 15-20 plays in a day. I'd be way too busy typing write ups than to watch lines, look for info, or watch any plays I've made to see how they're doing.
No one ever agrees with my reasoning anyway, lol....and quite honestly I get really freakin sick and tired sometimes of certain people asking me "How can you possibly take team A, they suck", and proceed to tell me how they have no chance. If my play wins though, those people are never anywhere to be found with a "nice call"....just a nice swift kick in the jewels from behind their keyboard if the play loses.
Don't get me wrong, most people here are good guys from what I've learned in my time here, but we do have a scattered group of ass clowns that pop in every once and a while, normally not even posting any plays, and then opening threads to "root for" their unposted plays, or just heckle people, presumably in an effort to be "the man". Yep, the same people that disappear after their precious faves lose a few games too.
Quite honestly, that makes one want to not do write ups as much as anything else....and I know some of the other guys here who used to do write ups nearly every day, and have now stopped, agree with me.
The blame should be at least partially put on those people....as I think more and more guys here would be glad to share their opinion if they didn't have the fear of being screwed with because of it.

I agree with Stif-it's tough to do when you play more games than others may play, as I'm constanly watching lines etc. I had writeups for my NBA plays most of the time as well as NFL last year, but sometimes there just isn't enough time, & sometimes I think it really isn't read anyway lol. If someone asks me, I always try to respond & give some reasoning:thumbs:
