7-2 yesterday, +4.85 units.
On those that have talked about Harold Reynolds, unless you know him and you have the facts of the matter, don't spread false rumors, especially in a forum. You never know who comes in here to read these things!! Trust me on this. Harold's off air comments did him in and he was warned of it. ESPN was very adamant on following the Code of Ethics that all businesses should practice and they followed that to a "T". Last year Michael Irvin could have gotten the pink slip and he didn't. If you remember his scenario, he was caught with a "pipe" in his vehicle but it wasn't "his". It was friends? BTW, I know Harold Reynolds and sat with him and talked with him many many times in Omaha years and years ago. Also, "sexual harrasment" can be in several forms, besides physical it can be verbal or visual. Eyeballing someone up and down and making facial gestures can be an act of sexual harrasment, as it's unwanted. In our politically correct world, anything can be taken out of context, moreso today than yesteryear when we could say or do something at work and not get in trouble for it. Today, we have to watch what we say and do and many folks just don't have the common sense to follow the "golden rule". Treat others as you would want to be treated, is that rule. I'm sure Harold will land on his feet on another network just has many other former ESPN employees.

Ummmm, Bill???
Isn't that the same comments that 2 of us made about Harold Reynolds?
Why is it spreading rumors if we say what happened and then you repeat the same thing and its "reporting the facts?"
Go reread the posts. It's the same thing you just got done saying. There is really nothing to hide. It is what it is. lol

Now hold on a damn minute. If the guy was fired for sexual harrasment, its not a rumor now is it. I never heard of the guy, no shit, but if he was fired for SH, it ain't a rumor. And where is the link that supports his firing. There has got to be a story on it some where. TIA

sorry for bringing it up...i didn't know it would be so controversial lol. I was just curious, bc ESPN was very hush hush about it. I couldn't find a story about it anywhere so I knew it had to be something like sexual harrasment. It's a shame too...let's just hope he doesn't go to MSNBC like Keith Olberman lol.

Hoosier, you feel free to say what you want as long as you don't offend anyone. If he was fired for SH, shout it to the world LOL

yo, Harold wasn't fired for SH or for anything racial. It was offline if you understand what I mean by saying "offline" for the reasoning of his dismissal.
Found this article which backs the story:
July 25, 2006 -- ESPN yesterday fired analyst Harold Reynolds from Baseball Tonight, sources told The Post. The reason was not immediately known.
"We are not going to comment," ESPN VP Josh Krulewitz said.
When asked how they are going to explain that Reynolds will never be on the air again, Krulewitz still declined comment.
Reynolds did not return calls.
Reynolds, 45, had been with ESPN 11 years. He had been a fixture on the show, which is a gathering spot for baseball fans, players and team executives.
The program already is dealing with the loss of information man Peter Gammons. Gammons is recovering from a brain aneurysm that occurred at the end of last month. The show's main analysts had been Reynolds, Gammons and John Kruk.
In Gammons' absence, ex-Met GM Steve Phillips has played a bigger role on the show. The program uses several analysts, including Orel Hershiser, Tino Martinez and Jeff Brantley.
Last night, host Karl Ravech was joined by Kruk and Phillips. Reynolds usually is on Monday nights.
Reynolds was known for a smooth style that usually was player friendly. He never found himself in too much controversy for what he said on the air. In fact, ESPN was so high on him he was expected to stay with the network through its just signed eight-year deal with MLB.
Now, after yesterday, Reynolds is no longer welcome in Bristol.

Story #2 from USA today:
From staff and wire reports
Longtime ESPN baseball analyst Harold Reynolds was fired by the all sports cable network after he was accused of sexual harassment, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
The former Gold Glove-winning second baseman, a member of the Baseball Tonight team for 11 years, said he didn't do anything to warrant his dismissal and wants his job back.
"It was a total misunderstanding," Reynolds told the Post. "My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted."
The newspaper, quoting sources, reported that the woman is an ESPN employee. USA TODAY has not confirmed the allegations.
ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys said the Walt Disney-owned network would not comment further on the reasons behind Reynolds' sudden departure.
Besides teaming with analyst John Kruk and anchor Karl Ravech on Baseball Tonight, Reynolds also covered the College World Series, Little League World Series and Major League Baseball All-Star game for ESPN.
Reynolds made his last appearance on Baseball Tonight Sunday evening.
In an interview with USA TODAY, Reynolds said he was fired by ESPN at a meeting Monday afternoon while still in the first year of a six-year employment pact. Reynolds declined to discuss the reasons behind his termination. But he said he's already received several job offers and his attorneys will be working out the financial details of his contract over the next few weeks.
"They made a decision to have a change in direction. I respect their decision, but I don't necessarily agree with it," says Reynolds. "Six months ago, I was in a situation where my contract was up. I had opportunities to pursue. Now I'll pursue other avenues that are there. In a strange way, those avenues were created by ESPN."
ESPN anchor Mike Greenberg announced on-air that Reynolds had left the network during Tuesday's 6 p.m. SportsCenter program.
The two-time All-Star started his TV career with ESPN in 1996 after 12 seasons with Mariners, Baltimore Orioles and California Angels.

7-4, +3.05 units. Now if I could just have back all the money I placed on the Braves & Cards this year including their wins I posted, I could have gained over 80 units YTD!! :bang:
I'll take the profit anytime!!
Last word on Harold Reynolds. He's innocent until proven guilty and even if he had just put his arm around someone, that's not something a gentleman should do if the lady pulls back or pushes away, and that can be grounds for sexual harassment if she says it was unwanted. We see/hear of this sort of action almost everyday in the working world.
I'm taking Monday off!! GLTA

Innocent until proven guilty? What are you, Harold Reynolds' lawyer?
Geez, all they said yesterday that he was fired for sexual harassment. That IS why ESPN fired him, no? That's what it says in the reports you posted.
No one said he was walking around whipping out his schlong in the halls of ESPN or anything else that could possibly be untrue.
The guys here have every right to their opinion and to free speech, and they did nothing to slander Reynolds in any way.
Then again....why do I even bother? :bang:

First story is by the New York Post and unless I failed to read it anywhere in the story by Marchand, I didn't see sexual harassment as being the reason he was fired. In story #2 it points to the fact the New York Post had posted it, that he was fired for sexual harassment, again no where does it say that. It's all purely speculation. Next point: Harold said he had put his arm around a female employee at ESPN, that's all he said and he didn't say why he was fired for sexual harassment did he? Story #2 says he was in the first year of a 6 year pact.
I'm sure we'll sure HR again somewhere, just like Sterling Sharpe and Cris Collingsworth keep turning up in pro football... :beer2:
GL and thanks Stif, yo and others who posted in the thread!

Umm, my only comment is I would find it completely odd to sign someone to a long term contract then can him soon after unless....
a) he did something pretty bad or
b) he did something not kosher for the 2nd or 3rd time after being warned not to do it and it was investigated thoroughly.
My guess is b) happened here.
ESPN can get in probably a hell of a lot more trouble for firing someone without just cause (especially a millionaire) vs. not taking action on somebody's accusation.
I do not see any problem discussing this on this forum even in a rumor type of way. That is what this place is for...not to spread false rumors but to spread info. Harold is in the public eye and he disappeared rather drastically...
