We need some beta testers!
Come over to http://www.wagertracker.com and register, enter picks and have them tracked!
We're doing beta testing, long freakin way to go on this site, especially design wise, but we could use some guys to start entering picks. Database is strong but we're still tweaking some things.
We've got a pair of sites like this coming out for football this season. Come one, come all.
The site will be finalized by start of college football season and surely for nfl.
Thanks!
Kevin

I registered, but I think I'm gonna stick with the good ole UC forum for my opinions, information, picks, and comraderie. On websites like that, guys are gonna post that they are playing $500 games when they aren't just to boost their totals to get into the "Top 10" and stuff like that. I think it can wind up being counterproductive to look in such places for opinions on games. I don't beleive for one second that whoever CREAM is bet $500 on the Royals last night, and placed all his bets for $500. I like UC where the monetary amount is masked thru units and credible cappers easily share info and opinions.

I agree with you on this completely. Keeping track of someone's success, or lack thereof, in monetary units is bogus.
If capper A is playing $10 per unit, but his record is +90 units, he's only ahead $900.
Capper B can be playing $500 units (not likely, but possible...or just lying about the amount of his bets, like you said), and be ahead just 2 units, and he's gonna be up $1000, and then be ranked above capper A....which is very misleading when obviously capper A has the far better record.
It would be a much better indicator of success if these types of sites kept all records in units....and even better if they made each capper play all of their plays for 1 unit....or at the very most allow them to rate them at between 1 and 5 units. Using a units system, but then allowing someone to make 200 unit plays or something is just as misleading as the monetary system.
It's a good idea in general, but for accuracy purposes, maybe a units system could be added for keeping track of the leaders instead of the monetary one in place now.

Sure, I'll put my plays in. The ones I bet only. Too many got damn services. They are just putting plays in to recruit unsuspecting newbies with their record or units. Kevin, I see your using your old handle LOL

Yea, I don't mean to bash the site or idea on any level whatsoever cause I know all the hard work Kevin and the crew put into these things, I was just making a point about how I don't personally find it helpful. It is listed as "units" I believe on the website, but you can only play 100, 200, 300, 400, 500. I use $50 units personally, so there isn't even a bracket for myself.
Stiff makes a good point about the guy up 90 units at $10 as comapred to the guy up 2 units at $500.
Anywhoooo, just some feedback. I enjoy my time here with respected breatheren and guys I know are capping to the best of their ability (for example everyone in this thread) and honest in their feedback.

without gettin' into complex programmin' everyone just needs to put there "BASE UNIT" in the tier... example: I base my units at $100.00 but I will bet 1/2 unit or $50.00, and sometimes even hit 1/4 unit or $25.00 (on props, live, or plays just for the hell of it), and if I feel good about a play may hit for 2 units or $200.00... Now I need to go to the 500,400,300,200,100 system, and make 300 units my 1 unit or $100.00 bet, then 200 would be my $50.00 bet, and 100 would be my $25.00 bet, also 400 units would be my $200.00 bet, with 500 units out there for a real strong play. It will all come out in the wash over time. Smart bettin' will come out on top...

BTW, anyone that bets more than 5x their base unit$$$, either needs to adjust their base unit$$$, or they suck so bad, they are just chasin' their losses, eventually they may win (even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while)

Keep the ideas coming. We're flexible and I totally agree about having site that is more "real" with all plays being 1 unit and tracked that way along with a good focus on the cappers win loss %, especially for football.
What I didnt tell you guys is that we acquired that website as a total fluke.
We actually have a totally different site in addition to this one, coming out before football season.
The deal we got was too good to pass up on, so we bought the wagertracker.com
Im still waiting to unleash the announcement on the newer, bigger, better site ;)

Ive spoken to the programmer and the partners involved.
The newer bigger site will have stuff like streak o meter, be able to querie who's hot and who's not over the past x amt of days months etc.
Prizes for top cappers for the season (probably starting in football) as well as units being done the proper was as if a guy who bet a game at -150 would win 1.00 if he won, or lose -1.50 if he lost.
We may add in a "best bet" feature that allows a capper to make a 2 unit play and then allow readers to querie regular play records AND best bet records.
Me thinks theres some guys that will have some very nice %'s on the best bets. There'd also probably be some clowns that make all their plays best bets, but maybe we limit the system to only allow you to use 5 best bets per week so it doesnt become oversatured with moron's records. lol
Lots of shit to process, keep the ideas flowing and if it makes sense we'll try to implement it.
One site, likely wagertracker.com will be contesty and more of a fantasy betting site, the newbie bigger site will be very realistic according to how we talk about units here at the forum.
;)
One may wonder why the F we have two sites that do similar things. The answer is that wagertracker came up for sale at a decent rate and its an old site with a decent following so WE HAD ta'grab it.
The main biggie isnt even done yet. Stay tuned, good shit coming. (Prizes as well)

... for all the feedback!
This is the programmer of wagertracker, as well as the other site that is coming soon.
While we can't make the site all things to all people (i.e. some people want variable units, another faction wants fixed units) - we are in a good position to make a great site that, frankly, is as useful as possible to as many people as possible.
I have seen the response from the link here, and frankly, nothing could be more exciting. Keep in mind that, in this early stage, we are expirimenting. We have a model much like google - get shit out early, rather than later, and get as much feedback as possible, good and bad. This means there is a certain rawness you might see with our site from time to time.
Please be assured that the core mechanic of the site is stable . Baseball is the best time to release something like this, not only because the traffic is more "friendly", but also, because the rules are as complex as you will see in US sports (no action on pitcher changes, etc.). As we move towards NFL and NCAAF, we should be in Fing spectacular shape to have a great deal of fun, seeing just who has the best insight among the UC audience, the WTK audience, and whomever we can attract via google to join the WTK family.
If you have any concerns, features you would like to see, or, in general, venting and bitching about what the site does not do, please email me at wagertracker@gmail.com, and let me know. There is a really good chance your feedback will, in fact, be incorporated into what we do with the site(s).
Thanks again!
