I am a bengals fan by default and with McNair gone from Tenny...I'll probably strengthen my ties to cincy but look at this road schedule:
Game 1: @ Kansas City
Game 3: @ Pittsburgh
Game 5: @ Tampa Bay
Game 8: @ Baltimore
Game 10: @ New Orlean
Game 11: @ Cleveland
Game 14 @ Indianapolis
Game 15 @ Denver

Other than Cleveland and NO these are some really tough road games. Also there is a span of 21 days where they are on the road @ Ravens, Home SD @ NO @ Cleveland and then a thursday game vs. Baltimore.

This looks really rough. you could easily see Cincy going 3-5 on the road.

Also the last four games of the year are:
At Indy
At Denver
and
Home vs. Pittsburgh.
Looks like a potential for 8-8 or 9-7.
Could be a VERY VERY rough year for cincinnati.

I was looking at this a few weeks ago and I've been telling people that Cincinnati has hands down the toughest schedule this year, and you just listed the road games I think most of the home games are tough as well. With Palmer still trying to recover and with all the off the field troubles, and with an improved Ravens and Browns teams in their own division, it could be an ugly season for you guys. Although I hope not because I am a Palmer/R. Johnson/C. Johnson fan.

Your 2005 teams reminded me so much of our (Chiefs) 2003 team. Both teams had strong offenses and had a lot of forced turnovers on defense and big special teams plays early in the year to start off fast and then played 50-50 ball the 2nd half of the season and lost at home in the first playoff game (except we had a bye and Peyton did us in).

The future looks bright for the Bengals just not this year...

And speaking of Chiefs and Bengals they play in week 1 at Arrowhead. I got a feeling the Chiefs are covering that one relatively easily, and I'm not trying to be a homer.

Good points. If you throw in the number of games that cincy won because of turnovers, it would appear that this is going to be a .500 season at best. I doubt they will pull that many wins due to turnovers.

1- Shouldnt you be a Raven fan then now?

2- Am I the only Titan fan left in here then?

3- Are you gonna come running back when the Titans are good in 3 years?

4 - I freakin HATE Vince Young but I'm staying with the team I grew up rooting for (along with the hometown Giants)

I think the Bengals can go 4-4 in those 8 games, but more likely 3-5. Winnable games at Tampa, Cleveland, New Orleans, and even Baltimore (and they won it Pitt last year). I'm not sold that Baltimore is any better than they were. They are old and slow in many positions and Cleveland isn't going to scare anyone yet either IMO.

1. I will root for the ravens when they don't play cincy or tenny or as long as the outcome doesn't effect the chances of either getting into the playoffs.

2. I am still a titans fan. They are still my favorite team.

3. Not applicable. I am a titans fan.

4. I like V.Y., but McNair should have retired a titan.

I would say I am a Titans Fan 1st a Bengals Fan 2nd and a Ravens fan 3rd.

I agree with this completely. Cincy will be lucky (IMO) to be a .500 team this year.

No way they will generate as many turnovers as last season for one.

Don't overlook Cleveland either. They will (again, IMO) be much improved this season.....especially on the defensive side of the ball. Good defense + home field usually = wins.

The Saints should be able to score with anyone if they get Bush signed too, which I can only assume they will or they wouldn't have wasted their top pick on him, and if he turns out to be as good as expected....added with McAllister, Brees and Horn, etc....they might have one potent ass offense, assuming the O-line gets their job done.

I think the outlook for the Bengals making the playoffs looks pretty dismal this season, but that is why they play the games.

the browns i agree, wil lbe improved but losing bentley for the year killlls them. they also releases jeff faine after they signed bentley who is half decent and could start on many teams. so they have a center playing this year who they had no plans of getting much time. the center in football is supposed to be your best lineman and we all know this guy isnt going to be that. i think this hurts more than most would think. they did sign wimberly their first round pick, which was good but their defense besides the d-line i think is still unproven. maybe im wrong, but thats the way i see it. braylon edwards out til probably mid october. winslow hasnt played in two years. and the pressure will all be on droughns to produce.

I wouldn't sell the Bengals short just yet. How about all those teams that have to play the Bengals. You are looking at this like Cincy is the Detroit Lions. I agree, there are some tough games, but if Palmer is healthy, they will be good. And why can't the bengals force turnovers this year. It isn't like people just dropped the ball last year and a bengal was lucky to be standing next to it. They forced Turnovers. And they can force them again this year. Sheeesh.....the league is so piss poor average from team to team, that the Bengals have just as good a shot as any of winning. Did they lose anyone to graduation?.......just my opinion, and they may very well go 8-8, but lets let them play the games first. They were a good team last year and if healthy, will be this year as well.

I hope they go 15-1, but my point was really that they have a really ruff schedule. Based upon their schedule it will be difficult for them to do much better than 8-8.

horfin- CIN has the toughest schedule in the AFC and tied with the NYG for the toughest in football, you are absolutely correct. They may very well go 8-8, i have heard a lot of talk this week on ESPN Radio about them and the fact everyone thinks that it will be BAL and PIT in that division and CIN will finish about 9-7 and 8-8. They may very well do that. My point was that everyone kind of seemed to be writing them off already in this thread (cuse, EdH etc...) and they haven't played a game yet. I really think if Palmer is healthy, they will be a 10-6 team this year. Whether that makes the playoffs or not, will be determined. Lets not forget, they may very well have beaten PIT last year in the playoffs if Palmer doesn't go down. That completely changed the complexion of that game....that is how close they were last year. If they can overcome the bad character guys and that schedule, they should be right there. IMO, it is going to come down to KC, SAN, MIA and CIN (maybe JAX) for the wildcard spots (think PIT, NE, DEN and IND win divisions). Only time will tell...........

I didn't mean to come off as I was writing them off. I thought I was defending them, but I re-read my post and I see how it looks as if I'm not. My point was that I don't think Baltimore or Cleveland are much better, if at all, than last year so those are more than winnable games for the Bengals. They will be 10-6 if Palmer is healthy because he's just too damn good.

They haven't lost anyone to injury, but they are losing guys to the United States Penal System, the bunch of thugs...

LOL!!!!!!!!

I was listening to the two live stews or the two live stoog or some stupid radio program and the one guy said in 1990s he had the same injury (or similar) as Palmer. for the first six months he was on cruches. Within 1 year he was able to run full speed and within 18 months he was able to make cuts the way he did before. Now Palmer has the same injury and he can come back and start after 8 months? Does this scare anyone? Scares me as a 2nd teir bengal fan.

Mike, they are of course going to win some road games. And most assuradly going to lose some home games. 9 is the majic # here and probably a good investment. You can't make that much at the bank leaving your money trying to make interest. Palmer is not the QB of the future nor is Cincy the team of the future. Under nine is IMO a good investment. .500 team at best.
