Sweden -425. The Swedes offensive firepower is impressive. Ibrahimovic has a shot at the Golden Boot if Sweden can advance far enough and this is the game where he can do damage along with Larsson and Ljundberg.

Sweden/Trindad and Tobago O 2.5 -130. The Swedes alone should score 3 goals, nevermind T&T.

Well, the Japonese took made a rather large fecile donation to the pitch today in the last 8 minutes. That coach should be fired ASAP. They went into a shell with 20 minutes to go so I think anyone watching knew that the 'Socceroos' would find the back of the net at some point. Cheap goal for Japan so I guess the Aussies deserved the win anyway. Initial thoughts of that group now are that Brazil and Croatia should beat them both handily. We shall see.

Czech Republic -105. The value here is overwhleming IMO. The Czechs are 1 of the 5 best teams in this tournament and even without Baros they still have an abundance of talent and top notch skill with Nedved, Koller, etc.

Czech Republic/United States DRAW +245. Did this with Netherlands/S&B game aswell. Expecting a draw here but would not be shocked if Czechs won. I do not see the USA winning this game, though I do think they can beat both Italy and Ghana. Czechs win I'm even, DRAW I'm plus near 3 units, USA win I'm sunk.

Italy -190. First off, I don't like this Italian team at all and like Ghana to compete well but I simply feel Italy finds a way to win this one because the US never catches a break in World Cups and Italy will somehow edge them out to move on (prob by goals or something gay).

I don't thikn anyone in America thinks they are good either. I think THEY think they are good, but they just aren't. Beasley looks like a little boy playing out there and Cherundolo looks horrible aswell. Reyna was the only one who did anything productice that whole half.

lmao...couldn't have said it any better. It's one thing to beat up on those YMCA teams from Guam that they play in their qualifying region, it's another to go play these elite teams. Spain/Ukraine UNDER 2.5 -165. Spain struggled mightily to score in qualifying and the Ukranians are a defensively minded club to begin with. Add to that Shevchenko being out, and this game has 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 written all over it IMO.

Germany -250. I think the Poles might play desperate knowing that they need a win in this game or else they are in trouble. A tie does little help here and the German counter attack could be lethal if the Poles press the issue too much.

Spain/Ukraine DRAW +220. The Spanish are classic undeachievers and this year's effort in qualifying hints that this team will be no different. For whatever reason, they never put the ball in the back of the net even though they are loaded with talent. I could see them winning a 1-0 game, but at over 2 to 1 I'm playing the DRAW.

Germany/Poland OVER 2.5 -140. The German defense looks rather suspect IMO against Costa Rica and they Poles gave up 2 goals against lowly Ecuador. Add that to the fat that the Polish team should be playing with a healthy does a desperation and the Germans score 3 goals again for a 3-1 pasting.

Tunisia -120. The game EVERYONE is waiting for, haha yea right!! The Saudis were embarrassingly bad in the last World Cup and 0-5-1 overall. Tunisia has some talented players who won their African group, and at this price I'll take it.

Tunisia/Saudi Arabia UNDER 2.5 -160. Arguably, Tunisia's best two players are defenders and I'm really nto expecting the Saudis to score a goal here (or in fact possibly all tournament).

Perluigi Collina (the tall balded-headed guy) is too old now and Anders Frisk quit after being threatened by fans after reffing the Chelsea-Barcelona Champions League Quarter-finals two seasons ago. Hahaha Flyers you have no idea how lucky we got! I was listening to it at work on XM Radio and for the record, WORST sport on Earth to listen to on the radio is the stupid announcers simply yell when anything exciting happens and you have no idea what they might be saying.

I believe they hit the post twice in a row and basically should have won about 42-0 if they could just finish. I also gathered that the Poles went into a shell and didn't even try to score, essentially looking for a tie. Is that correct? Costa Rica +265. Good value play here IMO as the Costa Ricans played hard and weren't scared of the Germans on their home soil. They also know that if they win this game and simply tie Poland they are probably in as one would assume Germany beats Ecuador.

Costa Rica/Ecuador DRAW +230. Both plays over 2 to 1 and was gonna hammer them each for 3 units and if one hits then it's a minimum 4.9 unit porfit but my luck today was atrocious so I am gonna lay low with 1 unit each. The Ecuadorians KNOW that all they have to do is tie and they move on to the next round. They will play careful and not take chances IMO as they look for the DRAW and a coveted berth in the 2nd round.

I have used this "strategy" twice thus far and both times the result I expected hit (Czechs won easily and England eeked out a win over Parguay). If I had to play only one I'd play the DRAW here. 1-1 final maybe?

I don't know what you are missing, but you aren't looking at the correct thing. I played the Czechs last night around 1am at -160.

Currently, they are up to -200.

I also feel the Italians will win against the US, though I could see a 1-0 or 2-1 tight win as I expect the inferior US team to play with a chip on its shoulder today. When it comes down to it though, the yjust arent very good compared to the bigger, more skilled European teams. Italy right now is listed at -265. While they played well against Germany in 2002 the round of 8, the only reason they got there is because they got lucky against a dissapointing Portugal squad and then played shit teams adn then always overrated Mexico in the 2nd round. They really just think they are so much better tha nthey are which is typical for Americans as we just cant accept not being the best at EVERYTHING.

Why are their ties in soccer?? Why don't they do have a format so one team wins, one team loses. Why would anyone want a competition to end in a tie? I'm so confused and utterly frustrated by that!!!

Also, does our tax money go to this USA team? They tied today and the other team scored their goal. How f'ed up is that. Stupid. Every year I've watched the World Cup, when I'm actually watching the game, I have NEVER seen a goal scored. I dont post here often but read the boards daily and I can answer some questions...

For one, there is 90 minutes in a soccer game. With 2-45 minute halfs. At the end of the first and second half, about 2 to 3 minutes of time is added back to the clock for time lost because the clock continuously runs.

As for not shooting enough, I don't know what your trying to ask. These guys are the best players in the world and the defenses are very tough to score on. They don't wanna waste a chance at a potentially better shot opportunity on a bs shot that won't score just for the sake of shooting. Just like hockey, you'll notice they are always trying to center the ball because that's where the best chances are of scoring.

As for ties, I think its an American thing that we don't like them because we have been brought up to know that there is a winner and a loser. Everywhere else in the world, ties happen and it's all good...

Anyway, I hope this helps a little....

I heard an American on the radio trying to explain why he thought people in North America do not like soccer. He said it was because they are not rewarded for hand eye coordination. In most North American sports (footaball, basketball, baseball) the action is all through your arms and by using hand eye coordination.

I don't know whether to believe the Argentinian coach or not saying he would "rather lose", but what he says makes sense. They will beat either Portugal or Mexico easily IMO so if they win the get Germany in the quarters and if they lose they'll get England.

Honestly, now I wish I didn't do that. Holland isn't playing anyone either. Basically, if you have a yellow card your getting glued to the bench. Robben isn't playing, and the fact that ARG has the two young kids in Messi and Tevez I still think Argentina wins 2-1 or something.
