I am seeing spurs +125 series price at a few books, is it me or do you guys see alot of value in this play for a few reasons

1. they are the world champs playing an inexperienced and untested mavs team
2. they will be rested come saturdays game at 8pm ET

I see alot of value in this play and was just wondering what others at UC thought about it?

SA Spurs is not the same championship team from last year. If SA does goes to the championship, Det. would murder them, lol.

GL Whatever you play bro...

dananderon32,

I wouldnt exactly call Mavs inexperienced. The core Mavs have played with each other for a few years (dirk, jt, josh how, daniels, dampier). Its true they havnt won Western Division or NBA Championship, but they do have alot of playoff experience. As far as resting goes, I assume you mean they're tired from their Sacramento series and were rushed into the Mavs series. But is a well rested San An team much better than a Mavs team? That's hard to say base on the fact that they were 2-2 in the regular season against each other. San An also seems a little banged up with a few minor injuries with Parker and Ginobili. I am sure both of them will suit up for everygame, whether they're at full speed is another story. Tough series, Kenny Smith said this is the best Mavs squad in the last 3 years, no one on the team can play any better and no one is getting any younger. I am just going to take this series on a game to game basis. GL on whoever you pick.

Honestly I think the Mavs will win this series and I've been saying so since February. They will be in the NBA finals this year mark it down.

with the above, the Mavs are NOT inexperienced, have toughened up on D, and have Dirk, who presents matchup problems for anyone. Not a comment on the specific bet you mention, just overall, this is a tough Mavs team. And I say that as a person who has made decent money on betting on the underappreciated Tim Duncan for years.
GL with whatever you decide...personally, I am still thinking it over.:gulp:

The reasons the Mavs are now favored to win the series are...

1. They now hold home court advantage
2. They held tough and almost won game one, and then murdered the Spurs in game 2.

I wouldn't bite on the +125 for one reason. Game 2 meant everything to Dallas, and while of course it mattered to the Spurs, it wasn't life or death. If you go down 0-2 to the Spurs, who rarely lose at home, and never lose at home when they MUST win, you are done....and the Mavs knew it.

Same thing happened in the Clippers/Suns series. Game one....Clips were in it till the end, and could have won that game had a few things played out a bit differently, even though the final score doesn't show it, and the Suns had not been completely on fire, and then the Clips completely dominated them in every aspect and blew them out in game 2.

Either one of those series could go either way IMO. If the Spurs were +187 (what I got the Clips at for the series), I'd probably bite....but +125 isn't enough for me to take the chance.

I'd personally rather wait and see if the Spurs win one in Dallas and take the home court back, and then play them at -125 or -130 or whatever they go to then with having the home court back. I don't think Dallas will beat them again on their home floor (unless maybe if the Spurs take both games in Dallas, which I HIGHLY doubt will happen, and it's life or death again for Dallas in game 5)....

For me, i think it's just a matter of the Spurs taking one of the next 2 in Dallas or not...which really may not be easy for them to do...and they should have a pretty good shot at winning the series.

yeah stif my thinking behind this idea is that SA takes 1 of 2 in dallas to make it 2-2 going back to SA.....thats the way i was thinking this out.....

Finally, someone agrees with me instead of getting all wrapped up in the "awesomeness" of the Suns and calling me nuts.
