Took a little hit yesterday, losing over 3 units, first bad day in a while......but I'm jumping back in there with another full card today...

Reds -126 (Arroyo) vs Nats (Ortiz)
Bronson looks like a great pick-up for Cincy, he's going for 4-0, and has a tidy era around 3. Ortiz hasn't pitched in 10 days, and has been hit hard all year. Cincy an early surprise team have also been swinging the bats great, and get the sweep today.

Cardinals -160 (Mulder) vs Pirates (Duke)
Lost with the Pirates last night...so I'll jump on the STL bandwagon.....they really do own the bucs. Pitt loses their 7th in a row.

Mets +110 (Bannister) vs Giants (Morris)
Really like the Mets to take the rubber game this afternoon. Bannister has been solid. Morris hasn't really pitched in 10 days after getting tossed in the first his last start. His previous start he was rocked. Bonds likely sitting today.

Rockies/Phillies OVER 9.5 -106 (Jennings/Madson)
These 2 have been serving it up....looking for it to continue tonight.

A's -131 (Harden) vs Rangers (Loe) 2 Units
POD. Harden is one of the best young arms in the game, and getting a line this low is a gift. He will be the 3rd Canuck to get a Cy Young in his career, following Fergie Jenkins and Eric Gagne. A's bats should only need 2 or 3.

Tigers +124 (Maroth) vs Angels (Lackey) 1.5 Units
Can't argue with Maroth's start...almost perfect. Have to back him as a dog. Tigers 11-3 away from home.

Devils Rays/Yankees OVER 10.5 -125 (McClung/Wang)
These two always seem to play shootouts, and McClung is brutal.

White Sox -139 (Buerhle) vs Mariners (Washburn)
Chicago on a serious roll winning 9 of last 10, and have their dominant ace going tonight. Washburn and average lefty who the M's signed for too much money. He was also roughed up by the Chisox with an 6.11 ERA in three starts.

BIG CARD TODAY.....let's kill 'em :yeah: :beer2:

Thanks Joe, BB.

Yeah...Jays have the bats....lead the AL in most offensive catagories. Pitching's been ok.....back end of the bullpen has been lights out.....just need the starters to stay healthy all year, and we got a real chance at post-season. Good thing is....for the first time in a long time, we have the cash to be "buyers" at the trade deadline if we are in the race.

Going to be a fun year!

Hey??? Where's the Jays play?? I actually thought you'd be on your boys tonight...I like the match up and getting the far better team at next to even odds....well, i guess it's actually gone up a little to like -110 now.

Actually I'd like the over in the NYY/TB game too if practically the entire starting line up for TB wasn't injured. Cantu, Huff, Baldelli, Lugo and Crawford (well Crawford's not actually injured, but questionable for tonight for "personal reasons")

Hard to argue the success of Maroth too....although I believe I'm laying off that game all together.

GL, even if we are :punch: at each other today, lol

good luck maple, yo i was watchin that play by play for the oakland game, looked like a real solid bet, but it was real wierd, harden was getting into like 10 pitch at bats and had thrown 80 pitches with one out in 4th inning, then all of a sudden left the game..i dont know what the hell happened there but it sucks for the bet, cuz the replacement gave up a grand slam

Thanks Stif.......and a :punch: to you too! LOL

Yeah.....might add the Jays. I was originally scared off by Canadian Bedard on the hill, but Lilly looks solid this year, and the way we hit lefties...I might add it. Never seen the Jays bats hotter in my 33 years.

Maroth, much like Bannister, seems to be smoke and mirrors IMO.

GL with the plays tonite JML! I hope the Mets can take the series from the Gigantes today!

Well.....the first two games hit with Cincy and STL winning, so WTF, I'll add two more...

Blue Jays -105 (Lilly) vs Orioles (Bedard)
Jays the hottest hitting club in the majors, and just punish left handed pitching. Lilly solid, and Bedard is due for a rocking. Better team, great value.

Twins -142 (Baker) vs Royals (Hernandez) 2 Units
Total fade of Hernandez. This fat prick started the year in AAA because he stuffed his face with devil-dogs all off-season, and was rocked for an era of 10+ in his three starts there. That gets him a promotion to the bigs?? In KC it does. LOL. See rubee's thread for more.

3-0 in the early games with 2 pending.....looks like Detroit doesn't have it today, but hopefully the Mets can hang on. I'll take a 4-1 going into tonight. Do I really have 10 plays today??? LOL. unstable.

Well....4-1 for the afternoon.
Mets came back andwon it after giving up the homer to Bonds.

4-1 night would be nice. :prtytme:

Amazing how the Twins can make even Runelvys Hernandez look like a Cy Young candidate.

The guy had an ERA of over 10 in the minors....and the Twins can't muster a hit off him?

Hopefully Baker can keep em in it....that play is really starting to worry me...as I really feel like I got suckered in to laying extremely unnecessary juice in that one.

JML- GL!....was at the Angels/Tigers game today...Marroth really pitched pretty well....it was just ANA day as they got a lot of dribblers in the gap and flares.....he went down 2-0 to Vlad and then just grooved a BP pitch to him and that was the difference. Defense was bad for DET, as well. Lackey walked some guys but DET just couldn't make solid contact off him.......how about my REDS?....Arroyo and Harang have come up big so far (knock on wood)......GL!

I respect Mike Maroth about as much as anyone in baseball.

I mean, think about it. the guy loses 20 some games in a year. A lot of guys that would have sent them down and they would have lived their life as a career minor leaguer who hopefully can latch onto a long relief role with someone in the twilight of their career.
He goes on to have a much improved 2005 and gets off to a great start in 2006.
He obviously isn't going to keep pitching this way with an ERA under 3, it just isn't gonna happen.
But to bounce back from that horrid year where you lost every time out, mentally you have to feel like you can take on anything. I respect that a ton.

Impressive start by the Reds indeed. I think they're what about, 15-7 now?

I hope they can keep it up too. It's always nice to see teams come from the bottom to be contenders instead of the same damn teams in the playoffs every year.

Scott Downs coming in relief?

I thought he was supposed to start tomorrow :dunno:

Maybe I'm just confused?

Thanks, FF! Hope ya had fun at the game, slacker! LOL.

Yeah....Reds look good early. Great trade picking up Arroyo. Willi Mo wasn't going to start anyway!

Stiff......yeah, WTF is with the Twins. Just brutal. 4/5/6 hitters White, Hunter and Morneau all around the Mendoza line?? What a joke....really thought they'd get some off that fat bassard Hernandez. Maybe, they can get a couple off the bullpen?

And Downs isn't starting tomorrow....We're calling up a greenhorn Chris Janssen from the minors for his very first ML start. He's actually even a AAA greenhorn. I already threw a unit on the O's and Benson.

Vernon Wells is the fucking man :yeah: :yeah:

Just got me my over....and the Jays ML and RL SHOULD be no problem :prtytme:

Hmmm.....do you know anything about the greenhorn the Jays are starting tomorrow? I hate to fade newbies....especially without knowing anything about em.

JohnnyMapleLeaf

Man, can the Jays ever hit. Wow, another 8 run game, and yes Wells is the man....off to a very hot start. And Alex Rios....watch out....5-tool player who could be the next big thing.

Don't know much about this Casey Janssen Kid. Just that he played A-ball and AA-ball last year, and made the AAA team this year. He's 1-2 in four starts with a 4.05 ERA this year. Interesting stat for him is 18 SO to 1 BB in 21 innings.

I'm on Benson and the O's to avoid the sweep at -110.
