SC/MIC
This should be pretty similar to a big 10 conference game, I'm more familiar with the Big 10. Lot's of Defense, erratic shooting, keep the ball deep in the shot clock forcing the other team to play 35 seconds of D. I'm going to stick with the Big 10 team as well to keep this one close and come out with the W.
GM/FLA
Florida has played 2 different styles to win against G'Town and Nova. They slowed the game down and won a slow tempoed game. Then, against Nova's 4 guards... Florida controlled the glass. Noah and Horford combined for 30 boards... they held Nova to 4-23 3-PT shooting.
Against GM, defending the 3 point line is going to be 1 of the keys.
GM has hit 17 3's the last 2 games.
GM outrebounded MSU and UCONN impressively... GM has outshot every opponent... held UNC high scoring offense to 36% FG.... Wichita State to 31% FG.... and UCONN did shoot 47%...but GM shot 50%.
1 thing to look for here is if Florida looks to attack inside to get GM's bigs in foul trouble. GM has no bench... that isn't that big of a deal come tourney time...however, GM has 9 points in the last 2 games from their bench.... they can in no way afford to lose one of those 3 big athletes they put out there.
Both teams are in the top 20 in the nation in FG % Defense.
Both teams in the top 50 in scoring Defense.
George Mason's defensive abilities are pretty impressive.... you don't know how impressive their numbers are playing in CAA, but they have proven they can defend the ball.
2 keys for GM to keep this close... ability to shoot the 3...and stay out of foul trouble.
LSU/UCLA
There isn't anything impressive about either of these offenses in the tourney so far.
Both teams have an inability to shoot the 3... and both defend the 3 well.
UCLA has been outrebounded the last 3 games.
UCLA only managed to shoot 40% against the Zags, a bad defensive team. Then followed that up with 35% against Memphis.
Both teams FT Shooting has been suspect, especially UCLA.
UCLA FT Shooting.. vs. Bama 5-13.... vs. Zags 21-30....vs. Memphis 20-39.
Neither team is going to shoot over 40% in this game, completely going to be a defensive battle. Rebounding, Free Throw Shooting are pretty key in my opinion.
The Oakland region was so unimpressive, I just can't look at UCLA's run right now and be impressed, if Gonzaga had any idea what they were doing, we wouldn't even be talking about UCLA right now... beating Bama, the Zags, and Memphis... 2 questionable top 5 teams.
LSU however, I'm impressed with their little run. A&M, Duke, and Texas. Duke and Texas are 2 LEGIT top 6 or 7 teams this year. Their frosh defensive specialist shut down Redick like he never has been.... and then UT's Aldridge, maybe the #1 pick in the draft, was completely ineffective.
Their is no offensive player from UCLA that will present a challenge like Redick or Aldridge did.
Thats it. Good Luck to Everyone.
