I was looking at this total when it came out and see its your big play, being from Iowa ive watched a lot of the hawkeyes games and the line seemed a little high to me as they have a stingy defense and dont score a lot of points, just wondering your reasoning behind the play? Thanks WB

Thanks WB Chaser, I looked hard at this game as well and Iowa has Brunner listed as day to day and Nw LA has a strong chance to run up some points in this game. They are a run and gun style of offense with a very good leaper in the middle. On the season Nw average 77 pts while allowing 70 and Iowa scored 66 and allowed 59. The line being at 137 for me is around 4-6 pts low considering Horner's 3 pt ability if he needs to show it and I have a feeling Nw will give the Hawkeyes a run for their money and now a -7 fav compared to opening number.

Comparative results:

No'western LA
vs Missouri 81-72 L
vs Wich St 57-55 L
vs Okla St 68-64 W
vs Oregon St 72-61 W
vs Texas A&M 73-61 L
vs Iowa St 81-77 L
vs Hawaii 80-76 L

Iowa
vs Colgate 73-51 W
vs Kentucky 67-63 W
vs Texas 68-59 L
vs Valpo 72-59 W
vs Northern Iowa 67-63 L

This tilt also being played in Auburn Hills I believe. I come out with a score of 68-67 which does not include any intangibles such as turnovers/injuries/2nd half averages, etc.

This could be a potential overtime game or upset in the making!

GL on it!

I like a lot of your picks. Paritcually the Southern Illinois pick. My only question for you is why Belmont. The spread is huge but UCLA has been killing teams and seems to be peaking at the right time. I just see the Bruins winning by 25 to 30. Just wondering what your reasoning was.

dunno his exact reasoning but in his tourney info thread he posted "Last year info, #1 & #2 seeds last year in round one were a combined, 0-8 ATS as favorites. Do you think Vegas knows this?"

redsquad, I'm taking the dogs vs #1's & #2's for good reason. Also Belmont size wise stacks up with UCLA and their style of play is similar. Just because they are from a smaller D1 conference doesn't mean they can't stay under 21 or 20 which I have them getting. UCLA will more than likely not try and get anyone hurt in this tilt and Howland loves to have his clubs play defense and he'll play more than 7 players in this game on a regular basis. UCLA I do respect, however they've really not been killing anyone, it's the teams they've played that killed themselves, like Zona and Cal. USC gave UCLA fits and there is no reason Belmont can't stay under the number is all I'm saying.

Thanks Cuse, chaser and rooter as well for the input.
