Betting amount- moneyline favourites

What's the generally accepted strategy here? It seems a bit lame sometimes betting 1 unit to win a lousy 1/3rd of a unit. When betting ML favourites should I be betting enough to WIN 1 unit rather than to lose 1 unit?

When your laying over 150 on a ML you may want to consider just passin on that game if the team can't cover the spread......

However there are times at least in baseball when laying 250 might be a cheap price....

As hard as that seems to believe it's the truth because huge ML favorites get little to no action.

You're probably right, ML favourites often aren't a great bet but if they really are getting little to no action surely that means there could be value in it. What I mean is the book will put the 'juice' into the underdog line the public are betting on while the big favourite is getting a nice price to try and attract action.

What you might find is that books kind of give a probability price and the higher the ML is the more the price is seprated........

You start on a dime line then after a favorite becomes to big of a price it moves to 15 cents then 20 cent and sometimes higher maybe even 30 cents....... so if your saying you might get value in the favorite line because the dog should be a better payout you probably are not right in that line of thinking. Of course I'm answering this quick but if you want a detailed explanation I sure could provide one for you..........let me know and I'll take the time to really show you the depth at which the ML's run on. The quick answer is if the book knows it will not get any action on a favorite for the ML bets because of the publics opinion despite the numbers they may lower the price to induce some betting and balance the dog action out. With 20 cents or more they have some good built in protection.
