Proper money management, according to all the pros, says you should not bet over 2% of your roll on any one game.
In addition, you should not be varying your bet sizes. If you win 56% of your bets, you are not guaranteeing yourself $$. Instead, by varing bet sizes you could be losing money in such a manner.

Don't even bother reading that crap!!!
Stick to what wiesman is saying. That 3-4-5 system is garbage. Adjusting your bankroll after only only 8 wins or 5 loses is a good way to set yourself on a path of going broke.
Flat bet until you have picked up 20 bets then take the same percentage of your now current bankroll.
1000 - 4%= $40
Bet 40 a game untill your broke or untill you hit 2000.
$44 to win $40
that gives you 22 bets to go broke......... for decreased risk of going broke use 2% or 1%.
2% will give you over 45 bets and 1% gives you over 90 bets. With the standard deviation in games the more bets you make the closer to 50% you will be which is perfect if you have a winning expectation of 55%.
Football I use higher betting size of 4% but other sports I crank it way down.
