This is supposed to be morbidly humorous, but what I found
interesting is that there are several professions that are
even more dangerous than wearing a U.S. uniform in Iraq
and being a citizen of Washington, D.C.

Did you know, for example, that in 2004 there were 92.4
deaths per 100,000 logging workers? The exact same number
applies to aircraft pilots, 92.4. And get this...there were
over 86 deaths per 100,000 fishers and fishing industry
workers!

Of course, the actual number is a bit smaller. More like
38 actual deaths. But if the total population of fishing
industry workers is less than 100,000 then the percentage

I Could be wrong, i dont think he is trying to get around those people, i think he is just refering to the arguements here in the states about the war. the critics here dont include people in iraq or troops from other countries in there critiquing(sp), so i think when rebutting the arguement, he is comparing apples to apples is all.

any loss of life in any war is tragic, regardless of ethnic background .

but in refering to the civilians, when the kurds got gassed by, saddam killed over 100,000 of them, to date the red cross says 10k have been killed since the iraq war started(by friendly fire and the terrorist that have no disregard for there fellow muslims as they say), at least that was the last figure i heard.

NOT stating im for or against the war, right now there are so many stories from so many people, from so many govt's, from so many journalists, from the troops who has come back, from the civilains in iraq, al-jahzeer(sp), it hard to figure exactly where it all stands right now. bottomline is tho, i think to leave now would make it a terrorist haven with little or no law/GOVT. there really fucked if they stay or leave. double edged sword.

I just meant that you have to count all of the deaths in the area for the statistic to be an accurate assesment of which place you are more likely to be killed. You can't say there are this many deaths in Washington (counting all people in the city for the death ratio), and then say there are this many "american" deaths in Iraq (only counting one part of the people at risk in the area for the death ratio).

Point taken though....and I didn't want to get political, as that never gets pretty!
