NCAA Overall (12-7, +2 units)
2-2 Last week but hit a 2 game parlay with Maryland and Bowling Green to put me up for the day. Didn't post it b/c it was a latenight drunk decision, and I like to play it sober on the board here. Liking a lot of the favorites this week. Will post my early picks for now with additions later, but I wanted to get these lines before they moved. GL to all!
Bama -12.5 Gotta Roll with the Tide this week. Facing a lackluster Ole Miss squad with no offense but a decent defense. Many look for this to be a letdown game for Bama, but the Rebels won't be able to score (see last week's 7 points they put up in the first half against the powerhouse known as the Citadel and 27-7 victory) Bama has the better athletes, pure and simple, not to mention that about the most enthusiasm that Orgeron has been able to drum up lately is a fistfight between him and OC Noel Mazzone. I look for a 17-21 point victory, with the Bama scrubs possibly scoring a late TD.
F$U -7 Being a Virginia alum, my Wahoos suck this year. Sure, this game is in C-ville, and UVA always plays hard there, but FSU's stout defense combined with Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker and all their supreme athletes will just be too much for UVA. Also of note is the possible suspension of UVA starting right tackle Brad Butler for a cheap shot he threw last week on Mathis Kiwanuka that got caught on national television and called out by the announcers. UVA's best defensive player, Ahmad Brooks, is also still nursing an ankle injury that's slowing him down.
Louisville -7 Petrino's Cardinals are looking like their old selves again after last week. Granted, this is an away game, but WVU doesn't have the offensive firepower to keep up with Louisville, and their tough defense will only be able to do so much against Petrino's offensive genius.
Auburn -7.5 Everybody is so down on the Tigers this year and expects them to have trouble with Arkansas in Fayetteville. The Tiger defense is among the best in the country, and their run defense will be able to hold off the Arkansas running attack, and we all know the Razorbacks can't pass. Auburn will regain public notoriety with a sound road win this weekend. 2 TD's sounds about right.
