Cam Ward, Carolina Hurricanes - Ward is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Penguins, reports the Raleigh News-Observer. The talented rookie will be filling in for injured Martin Gerber and could end up stealing his job outright. He's not a recommended starter in fantasy leagues just yet, but desperate owners may want to pick him up.

Nikolai Khabibulin, Chicago Blackhawks - Khabibulin is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Sharks, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Antero Niittymaki, Philadelphia Flyers - Niittymaki is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Devils, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. Robert Esche is still the #1 goalie but he will undoubtedly have to play better than he did on Wednesday if he wants to hold off Niittymaki for the entire season. For the record, regardless of how Niittymaki plays tonight, coach Ken Hitchcock has apparently already decided that Esche will start next Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, according to the Philly Burbs.

Sebastien Caron, Pittsburgh Penguins - Caron is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Hurricanes, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Jocelyn Thibault, who was unspectacular on Wednesday against the Devils, will get the nod Saturday against the Bruins.

Vesa Toskala, San Jose Sharks - Toskala is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Evgeni Nabokov will start Saturday against the Blues.

John Grahame, Tampa Bay Lightning - Grahame is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Panthers, reports the Florida Sun-Sentinel. If this holds true, we expect veteran Sean Burke to start tomorrow. According to the St. Petersburg Times, coach John Tortarella hadn't made up his mind which goalie would start which game.

Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils - Brodeur is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Flyers.

Mike Dunham, Atlanta Thrashers - Dunham is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Capitals.

Olaf Kolzig, Washington Capitals - Kolzig is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Thrashers.

Miikka Kiprusoff, Calgary Flames - Kiprusoff is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Blue Jackets.

Marc Denis, Columbus Blue Jackets - Denis is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Flames.

Roberto Luongo, Florida Panthers - Luongo is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Lightning.

Andrew Raycroft, Boston Bruins - Raycroft is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Sabres.

Ryan Miller, Buffalo Sabres - Miller is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Bruins. Take this one with caution as it's likely that Martin Biron will split starts with Miller this weekend.

Kari Lehtonen, Atlanta Thrashers - The Thrashers placed Lehtonen on injured reserve yesterday due to a groin injury, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He will be out for a minimum of seven days so expect Mike Dunham to start the majority (if not all) of the games in his absence with Michael Garnett serving as the backup. Dunham makes a good temporary pickup in all fantasy leagues, whereas Garnett has no value.

Mika Noronen, Buffalo Sabres - Noronen appears to be the odd-man out in the three-headed goalie situation that the Sabres are currently in, reports the Buffalo News. Not only was he scratched for the opening night match against the Islanders, he doesn't even have his own dressing stall and thus changes all by himself in another room. The Sabres, who recently acquired reserve Michael Leighton from the Hawks, will desperately be trying to trade one of their three goalies. Noronen is obviously at the top of the list but there's a chance Martin Biron could also be traded.

Chris Osgood, Detroit Red Wings - Osgood, recovering from a groin injury, will try to skate sometime next week, reports the Detroit News. Manny Legace has played well in his absence but we expect Osgood to get a shot at starting once he is healthy.

Jason LaBarbera, Los Angeles Kings - LaBarbera stopped 27 shots to lead the Kings to a 3-2 victory over the Coyotes on Thursday. LaBarbera, last year's AHL MVP, is expected to battle Mathieu Garon for starts this season and his showing last night is not a good development for Garon and his fantasy owners.

Curtis Joseph, Phoenix Coyotes - Joseph is expected to start Saturday's home game according to coach Wayne Gretzky, reports the Arizona Republic. Just FYI for people who like to know this information beforehand.

Brent Johnson, Washington Post - Johnson is expected to start Saturday's game against the Thrashers, reports the Washington Post. Another FYI.

Maxime Ouellet, Washington Capitals - After a poor preseason and the club's acquisition of Brent Johnson, Ouellet was demoted to Hershey of the AHL yesterday, according to the Washington Post. The twist is that Ouellet must first pass through waivers and because he is still young and was once a highly-touted prospect, there is a chance that another club could claim him. The deadline to pick him up is Friday noon.
