PHX/LAK over5 1/2...........................Kings have great offense this season. They also have some very capable offensive defensemen. What they don't have is discipline, D or goaltending. Should be a very different Kings team than under Murray previously. Lots of up and down the ice. PHX and VAN combined for 29 first period shots last night before settling down. Looking for more of the same tonight.

I don't know what to make of the NYR or MON. STL is really, really going to struggle this season, just don't like picking against a team in BB games after losing the first.

I have a question for you.... how much juice did you pay for the 5.5 ? I paid -118 for -6... my thought process is this (correct me if i am wrong)... since there are no ties anymore, the only way the "hook" comes into play is in 4-2, 5-1, or 6-0 games.... i guess what i am saying is, as far as total are concerned, overtime only comes into play if your total is 5 or 6, but NOT 5.5 (since you can't go into overtime with 5 goals being scored in total)....

Iguess my question is this... i have accounts at several books.... and sometimes one book has had 5.5 but juiced to -145 or so, and another book has it at 6, and juice from -110 to -120 or so... dooesnt it make more sense to take the 6 in this instance? the price is lower, and you can only lose out in this situation if the final score is 4-2,5-1, or 6-0 (lose out as compared to taking the 5.5)

anyhow, would be interested in your th oughts, if what i said even makes sense!

I am betting differently now than i will in 3 weeks. I am betting next to nothing on these games. I used to bet anything from 4 units to 1 unit on a game. I am now just flat betting 2 units on everything in the NFL, NCAA and NHL. As my bank roll incresaes, i may bump my unit play, but it will still be flat. Right now, i am only betting about 1/2 unit on games in the NHL. You saw what happened last night. So, with that being said, i took the 5 1/2 -150 tonight, just trying to build some momentum. If i were placing my normal 2 unit wager, i would definitely take the 6 -110. 6 gets you a push, and a push is better than the risk of an L at -145, IMO. So yes, i would agree with you and will be betting as such in the future.

Tonight's Rangers/Habs game is a perfect example of wait and see. I mean are the Rangers that good, or did they just catch an overconfident PHI team. How good is MON? They went 16 minutes without a shot. Is their O that bad or BOS D that good. Who Knows......that is why i am treading very lightly.

Anyway, great point on the O/U. Hope my explanation makes sense

I was away for most of the day couldn't post any plays. But I was thinking, I saw some of you got Over 6. Even though with the new rule changes goals were up around 1.5 or something goals a game first day. But still, in order to win, a total of 7 goals must be scored. That is still pretty hard to do in my opinion. But I guess I have to get use to it and just watch how it turns out for next little while before I play the O/U's.

Drigger- teams are averaging about 8 PP's per game right now. I agree that it still isn't a slam dunk, but with some teams getting as many as 12 PP's per night (MON had 11 tonight) and somewhere around 18 PP's combined in these games, there are going to be some goals.
