View Full Version : 2 team 7 pt teaser
let me preface this by saying I meant to lay -120 to win 100 originally. But in my drunken stupor I picked the to win $129.40 option :bang:, thus risking $50 more than I meant to. I'm still confident with these picks & a tie isn't a loss, luckily.

How about Houston +17 vs Cincy and Detroit +14 vs Tampa.
I used to tease a lot of 7 and 8 point favorites thus making the spread 0 or 1 but never could turn a profit. It wasn't until after the Super Bowl when the Rams were 14 point favorites against New England and struggled the entire game that I realized teasing dogs was more valuable than teasing favorites. New England +21 would have made for a very low-stress Super Bowl, of course I had it the wrong way.
Anyway, your Cincy play looks good but I think Detroit will come out strong after having a bye week. That 38-6 loss to the Bears looked much worse that it was because Joey Harrington threw 5 interceptions that day. And the Bears followed that game up with a 24-7 loss to Cincy thanks to 5 interceptions thrown by Bears' rookie QB Orton. The Bears are actually a decent team this year. Getting back to Houston, I just noticed they are also coming off a bye week and also turned the ball over 5 times back in Week 1. Struggling teams often show vast improvement following a bye week early in the season.
Good Luck, hope you nail both easily!
Good perspective man... but I learned not to tease underdogs from last weeks MNF debacle.
I had about two bills riding on an 11 pt 5 team teaser, I took 4 favs and 1 dog (KC +14). The favs all easily covered, with the exception of Dallas... KC ends up getting blown out by 20.
I'll take the home teams in this scenario over the two crappy (hopefully) road dogs.
If Det can lose by 30 @ the Bears I don't trust them. Plus the Texans have shown NO sign of improvement at all.
But you're right, typically in the NFL 3 possessions is safe.

and the reason why I chose these two home teams is that they're the only ones I saw with value this sunday. Cincy and TB have been stellar lately. I was going to do a two team ML parlay, but the payout was atrocious. Therefore the teaser makes a lot more sense. IMO, they both win SU, but that's why they play, eh??? :)

Might have been a close call but a win's a win!
Remember that the line is built around which team is at home. The linemakers give the home team in the NFL 3 points. So a 7 point home favorite would be a 4 point favorite at a neutral site and a 1 point favorite on the road versus the same opponent.
Don't forget to give dogs and road teams a look when playing a teaser.

Good advice Johnny I appreciate it.
GL to you next week!

edit : I just made the stupid mistake tonight by taking GB for the game and trying to win money back with Carolina at the half!
It's so unnerving to play both sides LOL
AT Least GB covered if they were going to ruin my halftime bet!
