Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Chad Campbell to win 33/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Avoiding anyone who played in last week's President's Cup as team matchplay events can be rather draining and also avoiding anyone making their course debut, so that leaves Campbell at rather generous odds. He finished 3rd in his previous appearance in 2002 and while his form this season has been patchy, he did shoot 65-65-68 over the last three rounds to recover from a very poor opening and finish in the top-20 last week.

Shigeki Maruyama to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
A similar story in terms of form with Maruyama, for whom finishes of 28th and 26th in the last two weeks can best be described as a sign of an improvement in his form. If his form is returning, this should be a very good week for the Japanese player. He finished 8th on his debut in 2000, won two attempts later in 2003 and finished 19th as defending champion last year.

Dudley Hart to finish in the top-five 25/1 @ Centrebet
Hart is another with good course form: apart from finishes of 3rd and 4th in 1999-2000, he has finished in the top-30 in six of seven visits to Forest Oaks. So with finishes of 5th, 10th, 36th, withdrawal when 27th (back spasms) and 17th, he is clearly showing enough form to be competitive on this course and against this field. Odds of 100/1 to win are available, but it has been five years since his last win, so the place-only terms are preferred.

Cheers spitfire ... close, but not close enough!

FINAL RESULT: 1-2; +3.75pts

Campbell 45th
Maruyama 2nd
Hart 17th

Good performance from Maruyama, but the only time that Choi looked as though he might wilt on Sunday, he holed form out of the bunker! Small profit on the event with Hart never really doing enough all week to convert his top-20 position into a payout place.

PGA Tour ytd
Outrights: 14-92; +14.32pts
Matchups: 16-15; +3.41pts

Nice write-ups Stanley!

So close I was cheering for you. I have faded Choi and Shigeki for previous events but I played them this weekend!

Thanks for that! I was thinking, Korean and Japanese, just had to pick the right one.

But still got some money!

Just wondering how did you make money? Is it cause he finished 2nd that you get some of it back?

Virtually all of my bets are "each-way" (e.w.), which is basically two bets, one to win and one to be placed (normally top-5). At books like Five Dimes and Olympic, you can bet these separately, but most golf books offer this as a combined bet.
